Tay Conti avoids the rabbit hole and beats the Bunny on AEW Dynamite

This week’s AEW Dynamite played host to a grudge match between Tay Conti and the Bunny. The two have been scrapping for several weeks ever since the Bunny got involved in her match against Nyla Rose.

Last week the Bunny teamed with Rose to face Conti and Hikaru Shida. The Bunny got a sneaky kendo stick shot in on Conti before hitting Down the Rabbit Hole for the win.

Before the match started, the Hardy Family Office clashed with the Dark Order on the stage. The standoff resulted in Conti flying at Allie and executing a double leg takedown followed by a barrage of fists.

Tensions were still running high when they got in the ring, and fists went flying as the bell rang. Conti took control of the match with a big catcher’s suplex followed by a vicious pump kick. The Bunny returned the favour with a snap suplex outside before hitting a brutal running dropkick that sent Conti crashing into the barricade.

The Bunny cranked up the pressure grinding down her opponent down with stiff strikes and submission. Conti fired back with several Judo throws and Tay-KO, but the Bunny shockingly kicked out.

The Bunny rolled outside and took out Shida, who was watching from ringside. Allie then used the kendo stick on Conti. The Melee distracted referee Aubrey Edwards, which allowed Shida to get revenge on Allie with a swift punch to the face. Conti then hit a superplex before beautifully transitioning into the DD-Tay for the win.

Tay Conti’s star has risen dramatically over the past few weeks. She has picked up win after win, which has resulted in her standing tall at the top of the women’s rankings and the number one contender spot for the AEW Women’s World Championship.

It is excellent to Allie finally decent run in AEW as she seems to have found her groove in the crazy and demented Bunny character.

On the show, Britt Baker requested Tony Khan give the people what they want, a title shot for the Doctor. Baker then took shots at the women’s ranking system and called it bullsh*t. She stated that title shots should be based on star power, of which she is at the top and not wins and loss records. Therefore, Baker states she will fix the broken system and climb the rankings with wins on Dynamite, Dark and Dark: Elevation.

Finally AEW announced that next week Jade Cargill and Red Velvet will go one-on-one. This match has been brewing since Cargill pinned Velvet in their mixed tag team match in March.
