STARDOM star Kairi Hojo has announced that she will be leaving the promotion shortly. The news comes after it was previously reported that Kairi had signed a multi-year deal with the WWE.

Kairi Hojo is regarded as one of STARDOM’s biggest staple, having held multiple championships from the STARDOM promotion. In November of last year, Kairi, Io Shirai and Mayu Iwatani all made a one-time appearance on Lucha Underground, joining forces with Black Lotus during her feud with Pentagon Dark.

There is still no word as to whether Io Shirai has signed any deal with WWE although she was temporary mentioned on WWE’s website during their March 2017 tryout trials before all mentions and photos of her attendance were subsequently removed.

What are your thoughts of Kairi Hojo’s leaving STARDOM? How would you book her WWE debut? Who would you like to see her feud with? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Great for her, but I hope they don’t rush her into the spotlight over girls who’ve been there for a while. And if they do, she better be good in English cause I’m not here for Asuka #2.

    • Gato_wiska

I dont think she will be a monster type character. She have this cutesy pirate gimmick. Which appeals to children. She is most likely a sexier less childlike Asian Bayley.

      • YonceLuvsDivas

Hopefully Bayley could take notes cause home girl is just not cutting it no more.

        • Joseph

Maybe for you but not for others.

I hope her WWE name will be Rei!

Askua will win the 4 way then…….Kairi appears

    • Aaron

She probably will be in the front row during the match.

Asuka should do a promo in Japanese and she should respond and then slap Asuka for disrespecting her!

        • Angelica Marie MoNae

Yea let’s do a promo in Japanese so no one watching knows what we are fighting over. How about asuka does an English promo that the only line isnt “no one ready for asuka”

  • Aaron

Whoever has no idea who she is, will fall in love the first time they see her wrestle. One pf her best assets for NXT is she is great at working with inexperienced wrestlers.

  • HEELHornet

Sorry I find her overrated, I don’t get here “she wrestles like a man!” no she doesn’t. There are better in WWE. She’s only getting talk is because Meltzer has a japan boner again and she’s japanese.

    • She’s truly one of the best wrestlers man or woman in the world today, I respect your opinion but I’m finding it difficult for her name and the word “overrated” to correlate on the basis that she’s had a number of amazing high-rated performances, particularly over the past couple of years that’ve fallen under the radar in favor of “revolutionary” mainstream television and people unwilling to give anything other than WWE a chance, especially when it comes to women’s wrestling. Meltzer praises them but sadly doesn’t even rate their matches when they’re delivering them so beautifully:

      • Pedro Miranda

Awesome match! Most people who wanna say Kairi or Asuka is overrated never seen there matches in japan or have some kinda weird basis cause they are japanese. Hopefully Io comes too.

    • THOMAS

      upgrade your taste level, thanks.

    • howie_ruhl

And I think you’re only saying that because so many people like her now because of her skill and looks and you want to come across as someone different and special by dismissing her. And much like all those dismissing the likes of Charlotte for petty reasons, your points will soon be made INVALID. Live with it. ;)

I am all for more women being signed, and especially international stars…however, currently NXT is barely able to utilise the women they have properly as it is. We have not seen a five star or competitive fued in NXT in over a year for the women.

  • Monkey Tennis

It’s always an odd situation when a successful independent wrestler signs with the WWE. In some cases, it feels like simultaneously both a step up and and a step down.

For Kairi, signing with the WWE gives her a chance to wrestle to bigger crowds (when and if she hits the main roster) and for a huge international TV audience. However, it also means that she’s going to wrestle a whole lot less and generally in considerably shorter matches. Plus, as others have pointed out, NXT hasn’t been making the best use of it’s current female talent for a good year or so now.

Obviously this is Kairi’s choice and she deserves any and all success that’ll come her way. But as a fan, it’s frustrating that success for so many women in wrestling ultimately means that we get to see them in action a lot less frequently.

  • Angelica Marie MoNae

Hopefully she is not one dimensional like asuka! I saw her in lucha and her match was awesome so I know she can go like asuka but hopefully she can speak and actually participate in an actual Fued.

    • howie_ruhl

I don’t think Asuka’s one dimensional at all. Asuka has shown that she can be a cocky heel; she has shown that she can be playful in matches, and she has been shown being irate, irrational and vicious. She has also been shown being sneaky (and slightly funny while doing it.) Also, she can speak. She’s not fluent in English but what little English she does know she has maximized albeit being vastly clunky due to her accent. Point of the matter is, despite her SERIOUSLY AWFUL build, she has shown her capacity and commitment.

      • Angelica Marie MoNae

Again her being committed doesn’t equal her being multi dimensional. repeating “no one ready for asuka” isn’t maximizing her English it’s minimizing it lol. Yes she has charisma and yes she can wrestle as face it heel but again her wrestling is the only thing she is good at which in turn makes her one dimensional.

    • Pedro Miranda

Asuka one dimensional? You must be new to her because she has wrestling way before she was in NXT and she has been a champion many times in Japan. Joshi are some of the toughest women on earth period. Go youtube her matches as Kana. She deserves the push she got not her fault NXT has not been able to bring someone who can credibly beat her. I can not wait to see Kairi in person she will be fun to watch her Diving Elbow Drop is the best.

      • Angelica Marie MoNae

So someone that can’t speak or act and can only wrestle isn’t one dimensional? No one said she wasn’t tough or a beast in the ring but that doesn’t change the fact she hasn’t been in a single fued (20 filler Fueds don’t count as a fued). She is a one dimensional wrestler as of right now.

        • Pedro Miranda

I am ok with her promos being in japanese but that probably cause I am used to hear them that way. ( I watch way to much Stardom lol.. ) IMO the promos she has done in english have been fine I point to the ones she did for TakeOver Orlando (the pool side promo and the contract signing.) I do get your point because there will be people who can’t understand her cause of her accent. Having myself parents who barely speak a lick of english I have trained myself to understand people with accents.

          • Angelica Marie MoNae

It’s not even that they aren’t fine. I’m ok that she isn’t a great actor the problem is in her year as champion she has only had maybe a handful of opportunities to grow as an actor. She can be a good actor but she never will if they only time she shows up is to defend her title or the one of time she comes in and says “no one ready for asuka”. Don’t get me wrong I’m not blaming asuka for holding herself back because that’s not the case, NXT is holding her back by not giving her a chance to grow. What I mean is I hope this woman comes in already well versed in English so she can perform a promo off the bat so she doesn’t suffer from the same silent booking as asuka.

      • Angelica Marie MoNae

Her past isn’t relevant to her now at nxt. Also you are talking about her wrestling ability which I have already said is her only dimension.

        • Pedro Miranda

Well her past is relevant because that is how she got to where she is in NXT. The point is calling her one dimensional because her english isn’t the best is a condescending term and not at all reflects how good she is. She acts well and the crowd loves her she is good in the ring and that what matters most to me.

          • Angelica Marie MoNae

The crowd didn’t love her at all when she interrupted the battle royal. In fact they haven’t reacted to her all that well since her and Nia fueded. It’s been forever since she got asuka’s gonna kill you chants. And no her career previous to NXT is not relevant to what she is doing now on NXT. If she can’t act then she is not a well rounded performer. And I’m sorry but I don’t think wanting a performer who works for an American performance company to be able to perform in the national language. Hell it would be different if they threw subtitles on her bits but they only use subtitles in foreign countries and even then the subtitles are (speaking Japanese) so no one understands what she is saying except peoe who speak Japanese which I’m pretty sure are the minority of people across the world that watch WWE.

  • ?K . A . T ?

I’m excited for her! Can’t wait!!

  • THOMAS

she’s super cute and an awesome and stiff wrestler, i think the fans will respond really well to her! ugh i love her.
