On this week’s NXT, Ember Moon once again confronted Shayna Baszler, leading to a pull apart fight.

TM61 were being interviewed about their loss to the Authors of Pain in the Dusty Rhodes Classic. However, as the interview was happening, Shayna Baslzer was seen arguing in the background with newly hired Performance Center coach Serena Deeb. The argument drew the attention of Ember Moon. Ember would shove Shayna down, which then led to the two getting into a fight that had to be separated by officials and fellow wrestlers.

Later on in the program, Dakota Kai was scheduled to have a match. However, the bout with Kai never took place, as cameras cut to Andrade Cien Almas ambushing Aleister Black. Zelina Vega was spotted at the side of Almas as he viciously attacked his TakeOver: New Orleans opponent. The segment ended with Aleister laid out in the middle of the ring, as Vega and Almas stood tall.

Thoughts: I’m a little torn for this week’s episode. Sometimes it feels like it may have been better to not have a segment at all. Other times I feel like having a small segment is better than having no segment at all. In this case, I’m leaning more towards the latter.

The continuous brawls between Baslzer and Moon further their feud perfectly. I don’t think promos necessarily align with either women’s characters, especially Shayna. Both women pride themselves on being fighters. Based on that, I feel it’s much more effective to have the women keep brawling with each other, rather than hurl insults at one another. Even if the segment may be short.

Since next week is the last episode before TakeOver: New Orleans, I am hoping that there is one last segment that will develop the rivalry between Baszler and Moon. Regardless if a segment is aired or not, I am pulling for Baszler and Moon at New Orleans. Their last encounter focused more on storytelling, with Baszler focusing on Ember’s arm. This time around though, I hope a different kind of match takes place.

In regards to Zelina, her associate Andrade made a huge statement tonight. Even with the segment from two weeks ago, it’s tough to say whether or not Candice LeRae will get back involved to counteract Vega’s ringside antics. Regardless, I have no doubt Zelina will interject herself one way or another come New Orleans.

On a not necessarily related note, it’s great seeing Serena Deeb again on television. Even if it was for a short television segment. I’ve had a girl crush on that woman for years. I was pumped to see her participate in the Mae Young Classic this past summer. I’m also glad that she could continue working in the wrestling business as a coach. You go ma’am!
