Exclusive: Trish Stratus Speaks on Autograph Signing Tour, Retirement of Women’s Championship & More

Diva Dirt had the pleasure of being joined by the legendary 7-time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus for an exclusive interview as she gears up for ‘The Stratusphere Tour’, which begins next Friday. Trish will be signing autographs and meeting fans for three days in New York and Connecticut from October 1st through October 3rd.

We spent nearly an hour chatting with Trish about that autograph signing tour, the latest on her movie debut in ‘Bail Enforcers’, her thoughts on the WWE retiring the Women’s Championship as well as getting her thoughts on the women’s division today. Trish also spoke on some of the highlights of her career, including how she feels about the ‘Trish vs Lita’ debate that continues on amongst Internet fans. Plus, her thoughts on being considered a ‘legend’ and possibly being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Big thank you to Trish and her team for the Stratusfying experience. Turns out she’s also a fan of us and we deeply appreciate her seal of approval!

Can Diva Dirt get any better?!?!?!
Trish Stratus is just amazing and I’m beyond excited that you ladies got to interview her. She was really wise and insightful. The way she talked about the Divas and the titles being unified, I totally understand. I wonder if she would come back as like a female agent?
    Best Interview Yet!!!!!!!! =)

Trish Stratus, is legendary, she is a future Hall of Famer, and she is historic, i loved this interview, she is so real and understands, everything, but I love how she mentioned Tamina and Nattie, matches and what she thinks of them,
Would love a Nattie Vs Trish or Beth Vs Trish would be great, however, i have always wanted to see Sable VS trish. them two got some of the biggesr pops, the womens division ever got.

Trish Vs Lita greatest womens wrestling feud ever!!!!!!!!!!!, Ya Trish as a heel, was really really great, she cut some really awesome promos and matches and segments that when she really shined for me.

Just me Trish you are definatly worthy of the Hall of Fame,

I feel like a proud mama when I see DivaDirt doing so well. I’m glad that I discovered this site so early on and followed it growing and evolving to what it is now. Also happy to listen Erin again. And of course Melanies always lovely to hear as well. Well, Trish is just simply…Trish, and DivaDirt interviewing one of the most influential women in the history of wrestling gives me goosebumps. Can’t even imagine how nervwrecking it’d be to hear her voice and respond to her without freaking out. So proud of y’all, keep the great job <3

What a Stratusfying interview! haha. But seriously; wow! What an amazing interview with probably the number one diva in WWE history. She seems like such an amazing person. My personal favorite WWE diva of all time. Trish was the reason I got into professional wrestling. She was the total package in my honest opinion. She had the look, she had the in-ring abilities, she had the mic skills, she was the perfect person to fit WWE’s image of a “diva.” What a milestone in the history of Diva-Dirt for sure. I remember earlier this year Melanie said on one of the audio shows that one of her dreams was to get a interview with Trish Stratus; well you’re wish came true! I’m sure the whole Diva-Dirt team is completely thrilled with this somewhat historic moment. Congrats Diva-Dirt on getting the opportunity to have an interview with the great, Trish Stratus.

I would love to see Trish Stratus and Lita team up to teach LayCool a lesson!

And I’ve always wanted to see Lita vs. Sable – that to me is one very interesting match. They were arguably the most popular divas of all time. Imagine a mega face Sable vs. a mega face Lita? Who would the crowd side with? Wrestlemania worthy match if built right.

  • http://great1s.wordpress.com Prescott

    ^Sable!? Haha. Wow.

Trish is arguably one of the best they ever had; she could teach many of these Divas a lesson about learning from the crowd, growing with the crowd and learning to work the mic in the line of fire. What so many forget is that Trish was once not over, on the mic at least, and was the poster child of the “fitness model gone bust” thing that they thought of Torrie Wilson too. Then, with some determination and incredible training plus a long-term commitment by WWE (the key), she grew into being one of the best ever.

I still remember her getting booed down, as a face, long before the Hardy or Y2J/Christian storyline broke her open bigtime. She really earned it. I used to comment on Message Boards – I’ll take my lumps – that I didn’t know if she would pan out on the mic. The trick was, I think, being willing to pause and talk back and having stock phrases to deal with stuff. She was one of the first. She was also such a pro that she re-turned heel when she didn’t need to just to get faces over. That’s paying it back and that’s why she left on top. Kudos for giving the interview! -P…

Ahhh Love this interview :)!!!!, Trish you need to write a book :D! Love ya!!

  • Goodvibes

Wow great interview, Ive seen Diva Dirt grow from strength to strength over time and this is just a testament to what amazing work you girls and guys do , especially Melanie and Erin ,you two deserve all the kudos coming your way .

On the interview, Trish if your reading (and im sure you are since your a fan of the site ) keep being the way you are! Fantastic insight from one of the greatest. Im actually astonished that Trish was able to shape her own career persay, with input and direction in storylines, it makes me think about the Divas today and how much backstage influence or pull they do or dont have. Preparedness meets opportunity is such a great motto to live by, and hopefully these new girls take that on board.

Diva dirt needs an interview with Lita next! get Sable and Chyna after that and were good!

I loved this Interview so much. I’m so happy to hear from Trish & all the wonderful thing she is up to. I admire her so much for everything she did for women’s wrestling. I love the questions you girls asked her, they were all great. I love that she is a fan of NATALYA & I would love to see them both in a match. I also love to hear what she thinks about the women in wwe. She is just so great :D. I also agree with Goodvibes I would love to hear from Lita and other Women’s Champions

  • donnie darko

@Prescott – Whatever dude, they were both interesting characters. As Trish implied, if they’ve got character and personality, the fans care. If they’re awesome wrestlers and have no character developed, then it doesn’t matter.

I don’t think Hogan and Rock’s match was valuable in terms of the moves and whatnot..the match was interesting because they were the greatest stars(characters)ever. So yeah..

Anyways, Trish Stratus IS a LEGEND. So young and beautiful and retired a 7 time Champion! Amazing person outside the ring as well. Thanks Melanie! And Erin, your very good interviewers! You don’t leave any stone unturned! Great interview and can’t wait to see Bail Enforcers. Wouldn’t it be cool to see Trish play a supporting role in the next Resident Evil(5) movie? Id love to see her in action/horror movies as a kick ass chick gunning down zombies and killers and whatnot.

You guys should try to get one with Lita next =)

  • ilovelita

It’s good to see WWE putting Victoria in one of those spots to remember the Women’s Title.

Great interview girls! Congratulations on how far you guys have come!

Trish, as always, is amazing. It’s always great to hear from her.
