Another Former Knockouts Champion Gone From TNA

Former Knockouts Champion Winter, aka Katarina Waters, has parted ways with TNA.

The Knockout’s contract expired yesterday, September 5th, and it has not been renewed.

Her official fansite reports that Kat is available for bookings, writing: “[She] is free to do DVDs, bookings, iPPVs, and whatever else! If interested please send emails to”

Winter joined TNA in October 2010 following her release from the WWE. In two years with TNA, Winter became a two-time Knockouts Champion and a one-time Knockouts Tag Team Champion with Angelina Love.

Her storyline with Angelina began with her TNA debut and continued until it was abruptly dropped in January 2012. Angelina was granted her release from the company on July 1st.

Between January and now, Winter had been used very sparingly, prompting many to question her future with TNA.

As reported last month, Winter will team with Maria Kanellis against the reunited Beautiful People, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, next month for FWE.

Damn it! :( I really hoped that she will return one day.. Its sucks that i wont see her in any Top promotion again… I still hope we can see Katarina matches from WILD and FWE on youtube or something… KAT4EVER

  • YouCanLookButYouCan’tTouch

What a shame! But it is kind of understandable since TNA hadn’t used her in a while. She’s so talented, yet her talent always ends up being wasted…

  • WWFoverWWE

Not surprised at all. Can’t even remember the last time she was used.

    • JillianHallTNA

Last TNA match was on Xplosion – Winter vs Tara
Her last match on iMPACT was on six pack Knockouts challenge

  • OJ Von Erich

This is such bad news to hear, shame really as I feel she never got a real decent run… I mean she was at the forefront of the division for a good time and featured in the main knockout storyline, but as with others I feel she had so much more to give, I wish her all the best with her career in the future…

But in all honesty, we all saw this coming didn’t we? :/

Thanks for the memories Katarina Leigh Waters… Katie Lea… Winter!!! =D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! she Sarita and Rosita are my favourites.Stupid TNA,Angelina,Velvet and Winter,ok . The division is getting worse than summer 2010, with the great divide that had when finish 2011 = (

  • redsandman99

Not surprised at all. With as little as she was used it was only a matter of time before it became official.

  • SherriShepherdWWE

No surprise what so ever, she hasnt been used in forever, poor Katie lea she had poor runs in both WWE and TNA”, it’s just a matter of time now before Sarita and rosita are gone, the knockouts have really gone down hill and fast

  • shameronstar

Wow, tna doesn’t really fire people it just makes people quit or they don’t use them until their contracts expire! tna likes to use Miss Tessmacher, Madison Rayne, and Gail Kim the most followed by the occasional use of Tara, Mickie James, and ODB, and then the underutilized Sarita and Rosita, and Taylor Hendrix is a developmental talent while Brooke Hogan is the knockout gm and Taryn Terrell is the knockout referee!

I know people are unset but I still like the knockouts division. It currently reminds me of a throw back to the pre-golden era of divas where wwe only had like half a dozen of less divas on the roster which meant that 3 of the women were the main attractions stars which made them seem more important! Right now tna are very high on Tessmacher, Madison, and Gail while they occasionally like to use Tara and Mickie interchangeable with them. While they keep ODB around for some comic relief!

  • Ryan

    No good bro!! :(

    Knockouts are shrinking in size!!!

  • JillianHallTNA

Hopefully Winter will return back if we tweet or do something about this situation!
I really loved her theme song but since it mentions Velvet and TNA doesn’t want to fix it or add new theme that fits her… Thank you Winter for everything, can’t wait to see what happens next! :)

    • jcarcano12

      I doubt it
I love her theme song to!

    • AfroJack

it says “her velvet touch, preys on the weak.” it’s velvet, not Velvet lol (if that makes sense??)

  • Rhawk

Not suprised considering they are only using 4 of their women right now. Jesus Christ the Knockouts might actually be becoming worse than the divas right now, dare I say it.

  • kreece

Expected this sooner rather than later. And I think Rosita Sarita and Mickie are next out. Why do I have a feeling they’re going to go for models now?

  • Rhawk

I can definetly expect Sarita & Rosita on their ways out in the future since they haven’t been used in ages, possibly Mickie also, but I have a feeling TNA will do anything not to lose her much like they trued with Velvet. Hopefully this isn’t the case since all those 3 are my favs in TNA right now.
They seriously need to start paying more interested in their Knockouts Division again, remember when we had nice fueds like Taylor & Daffney, Kong & Gail, and women like Hamada, Roxxi & Alissa Flash? Going from then to this just makes TNA look so bad…

  • LadyGoDiva

I find it funny that certain Superstars & Divas jump ship to TNA when they weren’t used in the WWE and when their in TNA they get pushed but for a short time.

But I’m also not suprised that the KO’s division isn’t in the same condition it was when it started with very little women in their division leaving. I really hope that Katrina keeps wrestling.

  • charleshp

TNA is in full cost-cutting mode. Expect to see a lot more KO’s and others leaving.

    • Ed

If they’re in cost-cutting mode, getting rid of the Knockouts doesn’t make much sense since they’re among the lowest paid talents in the company. More likely this was just a case of doing away with someone creative had no plans for.

  • Flitzy

Ugh. So many Knockouts not being used. I agree that it seems like they’re clearing house too. I mean they haven’t even used Taeler Hendrix once since she actually won the Gutcheck thing and we don’t hear from Sarita or Rosita. :\

It makes me wish WWE would just work out some sort of deal with Shimmer or hire Dutch back to take over the Divas division just to spite TNA.

Why are they trying to kill the one good thing they actually had going for them?!

    • Ed

Taeler Hendrix is training in OVW under a developmental deal. They’re not using her because she hasn’t been called up to the main roster yet.

      • IRuleMe

Then what was the point in using her in the Gut Check Challenge and “giving her a roster spot” if she’s rotting away in developmental? KO division sucks. Same 4 girls, swapping the title, with stupid storylines like Henber and Terrell (who just stands there). Half the girls didn’t get used and were either shown the door/quit while Brooke Hogan gets to come in and get TV time. It’s a joke. The only “ex WWE” girl being used is Madison.

        • IRuleMe

I meant to say the only non “ex WWE” girl being used is Madison.

  • MickieJamesluvslave

Not surprised but sad to hear. TNA used to have WWE beat in really 2 areas: tag teams and women wrestling. Now both have dropped severly. Not sure where the KO division is headed except south

  • Raekon

Not surprised at all since it was a matter of time she would either leave or the will let her go after she wasn’t used at all.

That’s good for Maria though since she had said in her inteview that she want’s to build a good womens division and with the 3 she got together already I think she is doing a good start. :)

  • Nostalgia

I’m sorry but TNA has completely lost their edge over the divas… They now have Brooke, Tara, Mickie, Gail, Madison, Rosita, and Sarita and oh ODB… I don’t know what’s wrong with TNA but this Gail/Madison/Brooke and now sometimes Tara direction they’re running with sucks. We’re seeing the same matches over and over again. TNA is sucking while WWE is rising

    • Kessuki

that’s true. it does seem like the divas division is rising with all the signings lately whereas the KO’s are getting shown the door. what is goin’ on? lol

    • perceval

Do Rosita & Sarita really count as active KOs? We’ve seen Kelly Kelly wrestle on TV more often than them. Hell, we’ve seen frickin ROSA wrestle on TV, more often.

    • flash1086

But the KOs is still providing much better quality match than the Divas.

      • Nostalgia

        not these past few weeks

  • Arakas

I think the next one is Sarita.

  • wl75

Not shocked at all- and still ticked off that she won the KO Title twice and never was able to do anything with it….

  • divaindemise

Unsurprising. Though her TNA profile was significantly larger than her WWE run, Kat just seems to be the unique kind of talent management struggle to market. I’ve always found her rather beautiful and underrated, even if she wasn’t the flashiest of performers. Whatever she does next in wrestling, I hope she tries to reinvent herself to prove that she can be something that isn’t altogether offbeat.

  • VelvetLoveFan

Next is Sarita than Rosita than the 4 maybe 5 that are aurally used will be leaving (Mickie) it’s a shame it really is and I never thought the divas are little by little becoming the KOs last year and before (07-10) :/ sad story tho..

    • perceval

If, just a year ago, we were told that Sara Del Rey would be rejected by one company for not having the “right look,” while the other company would sign her, we’d never have guessed she was Diva bound.

    Eh. No surprise there…
