Diva Couture: Wrestling’s Female Trios (Every Group Has a Michelle Williams)

I think we can all agree that Beyoncé put on one of the greatest performances of all time at the Superbowl this past Sunday. Who am I kidding? THE greatest halftime show of all time. I mean seriously, just look at her.

Not only did Queen B look fierce, sexy and classy all at once, she brought some of her friends with her. I think one of the highlights of the performance was the surprise reunion of Destiny’s Child.

It was wonderful. The girls all looked hot. Okay, well, maybe just Beyonce and Kelly. Michelle, though, kind of looked out of place and lost as usual.

That’s not to say she didn’t do her best to be as fabulous as the other girls, but she just didn’t have it. This isn’t entirely Michelle’s fault. If anyone knows anything about Destiny’s Child they know there were several other members before Michelle was the third girl. Hell, there were even four members at one point. She tries, but she’ll never be Beyonce.

Why am I talking about Destiny’s Child? Well, I really just wanted an excuse to illustrate the fact that every female trio has had a Michelle Williams: someone who just doesn’t have the flare (or the fashion sense) of the other two. This, of course, includes trios in the wrestling world.

Does anyone else think Victoria looks like Sherri Martel in her picture?

  • kio3j2

I love any article that mentions Beyonce

  • MaccaJack

Didn’t notice Jessicka Havok has the same gear as Tara in TNA.

    • Kayfabe!

It’s the opposite! Tara has the same outfit as Jessicka Havok!

  • Mr. AJ Lee

I don’t think we can really judge Michelle’s outfit for the super bowl. Didn’t Beyonce’s mom make all the clothes?

    • k2evecrew

I think it was more about her overall apperence with the way she sung & how she moved then just the clothes.

  • Raynex

Beyonce’s Baby Boy was flawless, yes.

As for female trio’s. I really wanted LayCool to add a third member to clean up after them, kind of what Angelina and Velvet did when they brought in Madison.

Current WWE/TNA rosters dont have enough female talent to put 3 of them together, but in the near future I see WWE putting 3 diva’s together again.

  • Raynex

    And, I miss Lacey.

  • Nostalgia

I loved Meat and his meat… Hehe

  • Mr. Asstastic

    Madison was definitely the Michelle.

    • Mr. Asstastic

Actually, maybe Lacey is the Michelle and Madison’s the LeToya Luckett.

      • DjayDay

Nah, Madison did her thing and had other success, unlike LaToya Don’t get me wrong I love Lacey, but she’s without a doubt the Michelle. I’d say Madison is the Solange. Associated with the group, but does her own thing.

      • 09DHK

In terms of wrestling ability, Lacey would definitely be the Michelle of the group since (dare I say) her skills are Rosa Mendes bad, but in terms of actually looking like they belonged in the group, Madison would be the Michelle of the group.

        • Looking Glass

Oh please there’s a whole new category for what LVE called wrestling! And looking like they belong in the group? I understand Michelle is the third wheel but in terms of appearance why did Michelle look out of place following years of exposure to Kelly’s ratchet red hair?

  • DarknessRuler

Sorry but Madison was the Michelle of the group and Lacey fitted in perfectly with the dumb blonde act even if it wasn’t intended

  • JJ

Michelle was always my favourite in Destiny’s Child when I was younger. I thought she was the prettiest and her solos were always my favourite part of their songs.

    • http://facebook.com/mykael.kennedy mykel1990

What solos? She mostly had like the lead up to the bridge or chorus, except for solider, I can’t recall hearing her alone for more than a couple seconds.

      • Lancerboi1986

Those are still considered solo’s, no matter how short. She did song by herself on almost every song and sang the majority of the verses on some album tracks. She was my favorite too.

  • K2Evefan

Excuse me but michelle can outsing beyonce anyday and michelles outfit was my favorite. Can she dance like kelly or beyonce no but go watch “through with love” live and then tell me she doesnt blow beyonce out of the water! I bet none of you noticed when michelle and kelly came out the sound quality was different. Those of you that did notice probably still dont know why. When the girls cameout they werent near as loud as when beyonce was solo and the reason why is because beyonce does what she does best and lip sang along with one of her famous “live” vocal tracks. Michelle wouldnt be caught dead lip syncing.

    • K2Evefan

The main thing that kept michelle down was beyonce and not because of her talent but because who managed destinys child again? Oh yeah thats right Mr. Knowles….

      • GailKim95

You’re just mad because Beyonce surpassed anything Michelle could ever dream of attaining

        • k2evecrew

I feel like Michelle voice didnt fit with Beyonce & Kelly’s . I remember me my best friend and my sister would always song their songs and we’d argue over who should sing Michelle’s part lol. But I do feel like there may have been a little favoritism with her father isn’t that why the first two girls left?

        • Raekon

          @GailKim95
You should better check before you say things like that cause you obviously have no clue about Michelle or Destiny’s Child in overall.

          - Michelle was and still is a business woman.
Even Beyonce and Kelly confirmed that.

          - Singing was a side thing for Michelle and not her main career so she can care less what Beyonce accomplished on TV.
Most of all since she accomplished as much and even more outside or behind the stage or tv.

3 Quarters of the Destinys Child caree, dear Daddy kept all the others girls as back vocalists to Beyonce so the other girls barely got to shine.

It was the last quarter of the Destinys Child in which Kelly and Michelle got to sing parts on their own.

In my opinion all 3 meshed very well together through their different voices and parts they could take on.

When they all had their first solo cds, Daddy that produced them all made sure that Michelle goes gospel, Kelly a little bit underground so Beyonce can keep the part she is best at and the group were known for.
          R’N’B.

Kelly started first getting successfull after she cut lose the strings Beyonces daddy had on her and Michelle moved on with her business career and kept being as successful as she was prior to Destinys Child and even more.

          @K2EVECREW
Yes, all girls (3 prior to Michelle and I think another one in between) left because they didn’t wanted to be Beyonces background singers in a girl group in which all girls were supposed to have their own parts.

    • shameronstar

I’m actually more of an Aaliyah person but Beyonce is very talented and beautiful! I’m surprised wwe never tried finding a diva that has that Beyonce/Tyra look with the caramel skin, brown sugar hair, and long fit legs!

      • http://facebook.com/mykael.kennedy mykel1990

Are we seriously arguing about Destiny’s Child on diva-dirt? Lol

        • shameronstar

Yes, lack of good diva material lately has made us very bored:P

      • Raekon

        @Shameronstar

        - Kristal?
        - Sharmell?
        - Alicia?
        - Caylee Turner?
        - Cameron?

  • Looking Glass

I actually think Torrie was the ‘Michelle’ of Ladies in Pink, Victoria might have looked out of place but wrestling wise she carried the group and while Candice seemed to be the leader, Victoria was the power lackey that put the dominance behind the group while Torrie was just…’there’.

  • k2evecrew

Even though they weren’t actually a faction u could say Madison Rayne was the Michelle of the group back when Karen Jarette and Gail Kim controlled the knockout division . You could tell Karen favored Gail over Madision

  • VelvetLoveFan

The Beautidul People- Angelina, Velvet and Madison! Loved their run as TBP

    • VelvetLoveFan

And as for the “Michelle Williams” First was Madison Rayne then the 3rd version of TBP it was Lacey imo

  • VarsityBaseDude

I like Michelle. I bet if we were talking about McCool, this would be a different story since LayCool and Vickie had a trio going too. Now who would you say is the Kelly of the group… hmmmm.

  • mikeparis18

Madonna was the best hands down, she killed it. Bey was OK nothing special

    • HoustonHomewrecker

AGREED and the ratings say the same.

  • Pat

    All haaaailll Queen B.

    Kelly was fierce.

    Michelle tried.

Definitely loved the Beautiful People. Lacey was the Michelle though.

  • DjayDay

I always though that Torrie was the odd one out in Vince’s Devils, she didnt do anything. I mean don’t get me wrong, she was a great addition to the group, but much like Michelle, she was talented and had her place and when people then of Candice and Victoria, they think of Torrie.

  • iLUVValets

Very Good article @JAKE, but how come you didn’t add Extreme expose?

  • 09DHK

Janet Jackson’s halftime performance was FAR better, but Beyonce’s performance was nice too. As far as who was the “Michelle Williams” of each trio, Madison was definitely the Michelle of the Beautiful People, Ryan Shamrock for P.M.S., twisting my arm, I’d have to say Victoria of Vince’s Devils since she was the only real wrestler of the group (super hard for me to compare Victoria to the likes of Michelle Williams since I’m a HUGE Victoria/Tara mark). Can’t really comment on the indies trio since I don’t really follow them.

  • Raekon

From the midwest militia I think that Sassy didn’t fit well in the trio.
    At least lookwise.
I agree on all the others. :)

  • Ace Of Base

I loved PMS! Also, perhaps Ivory, Stacy & Torrie should have gotten a little mention since they joined as a group for a couple of times…although not as long I suppose.

I loveeee my girl Beyonce, but I have to say…Madonna’s performance last year might be the greatest Superbowl Halftime show ever. There was a lot of variety and I think hers had more of an epic and grand feel to it. Either way, I loved both.

    • Lancerboi1986

Oh wow I loved Ivory with Stacy and Torrie. Ivory had never looked better!!

  • WildestDreams

Michelle has never been an entertainer. She has a amazing voice and range when she is allowed to show it but a dancer she is not lol. I dont think she was out of place i think she was in place but it looks awkward now because she is standing next to Beyonce who has always brought it and Kelly who finally found her groove. In my opinion the show was amazing but Kelly kinda stole the show. Am i the only one who got Super Excited to see her pop through that floor? lol Not because of DC but because Kelly is that Chick right now and she knows it lol

  • AJ Glee

Yaasss! Stan for King Bey! :-D

  • Kessuki

i disagree, beyonce sits just outside my top 5 best superbowl halftime performances, she gave a good performance, dancing, yes, singing no and the DC reunion was forgettable. I was more entertained by the smoke and mirrors as they say (lights, pyrotechnics, digital imagery, etc…).

i wouldn’t place her in my top 5 which is reserved for Prince, U2, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith and Janet Jackson – all who put on a show and SANG more than beyonce and madonna did

The Nitro Girls may not have been a trio but they certainly had a fair few michelles in there, I always thought Kimberley was the Beyonce. Whereas with Macho Man’s Team Madness i think Molly Holly was the ‘Michelle’ because she wasn’t given as much focus and attention compared to Madusa and Macho’s then girlfriend Gorgeous George.
