IMPACT wanted to have The Beautiful People return to face Fire ‘N Flava

Fire ‘N Flava have been history makers when it comes to the revival of the Knockouts Tag Team Championships. Since last losing the titles, the team has now gone their separate ways. Tasha Steelz is with IMPACT teaming with Savannah Evans, and Kiera Hogan has moved on from the company and has been working with AEW and participated at NWA EmPowerrr.

While tag team champions, Fire ‘N Flava faced many teams but according to Tommy Dreamer, there was one team that IMPACT had hoped to bring back – The Beautiful People.

One can’t talk about the Knockouts of IMPACT without mentioning the importance that was The Beautiful People. Dreamer mentioned during his House of Hardcore podcast with Tasha Steelz that it was IMPACT pitched to have Angelina Love and Velvet Sky return to the company to challenge Fire ‘N Flava.

“With you and Kiera, I’ll tell you this, there was a pitch to bring back The Beautiful People to go against you guys. It didn’t work out. There was contract stuff involved and a lot of other stuff, but it was being discussed. If people only knew half the stuff being discussed right now about what talent to bring in, what talent you shouldn’t bring in. The behind the scenes of pro wrestling is amazing. Anyway, that was probably one of the biggest acts that IMPACT has ever had from TNA to IMPACT and one of the highest rated segments of all time. Those two women always brought it. That would have been an interesting feud in the ‘what if?’ category,” said Dreamer. [Transcription credit: Fightful]

When Dreamer delivered this information, the reaction from Steelz was both surprised and disappointed that it didn’t take place. She discussed her and Hogan winning the titles being her favorite moment in IMPACT so far. The history of their victories made them the first African American team and the only duo to win the titles twice.

Steelz stated, “I feel like Fire N Flava made the Knockouts Tag Titles relevant again for more tag teams to come in and chase for it because we brought a lot more to the tag titles. No disrespect to the previous owners, but I feel like we were the most entertaining because of the passion and fight we had to want to bring the tag titles back and want to keep them. I feel like we made it much more relevant and to give these girls the opportunity to fight for what we had.”

Currently, Angelina Love is with ROH and has participated in the Quest for Gold Tournament making it to the semi-finals. Velvet Sky is doing commentary work with NWA and has not wrestled since 2016.

What would you have made of a return from Angelina and Velvet? Would you have liked to see them face Fire ‘N Flava? Leave your thoughts below.
