It is June and that means for the whole month the LGBTQ community get to celebrate extra hard about being ourselves every day! And because of that, every day here throughout the month, we are going to spotlight one LGBTQ+ wrestler. These names are not going to be in any order. So, this won’t be a countdown but more of just a highlight to celebrate.

On June 6 we are going to celebrate AEW’s Anthony Bowens. Here at Diva Dirt we do not highlight men very often, but some men can be Divas too
Anthony Bowens
Bowens made his wrestling debut in 2013 and worked his way through the indie scene from 2016 until he signed with AEW in 2020. He is currently the only openly gay man in a major wrestling promotion in the United States. While in AEW he was in a tag team with Max Caster known as The Acclaimed. Together they have previously won the AEW Tag Team Titles and also the AEW Trios Titles along with Billy Gunn.
At the start of this year, Bowens sided with Gunn over Caster which broke up The Acclaimed. Bowens is currently trying to climb the ranks as a singles competitor. His currently going by the name, “The Pride of Pro Wrestling” and wants to become the first openly gay male wrestler to become world champion in AEW.
While speaking with WrestleZone, Bowens said the following –
“I’m focused on becoming a singles competitor and achieving my goals. I am fully, fully prepared to do everything I can to work hard to continue to earn everything I have in the singles division. I fully intend to win gold,” Bowens said. “I’d love to be AEW’s first gay singles champion. So I have a lot of things I would like to accomplish, and that all starts right now.”
