Introducing “Hit or Miss?”: August 30th – September 6th

Introducing yet another new feature to Diva Dirt – Hit or Miss?! We’ll be examining the week’s news bits and deeming them hits or misses. These won’t be storyline-based – we won’t be judging by a character’s progression. Instead, we’ll be looking at the real-life drama. For instance, did a Diva develop some backstage heat? That’s a miss. What about a Knockout match receiving the highest ratings of the show? That’s a hit. I’ll rate each story by stars (out of 5) – more stars for a hit, less for a miss. Got it? Let’s dive in..

Story #1: Candice makes like Superman and “Returns”.
Candice Michelle made her long-awated return to the ring on this past Monday’s RAW, getting the win for her team and getting one-up on Beth Phoenix. However, her in-ring performance was highly debated amongst fans. The ending was even edited to cut out multiple botches. So, was it sloppy work or simply a case of ring rust?
Rating:
Hit or Miss?: 2 stars makes it a MISS. Yes, she was returning after a year away. Yes, she has every excuse to be a little rusty. However, if you saw the unedited footage, you can tell that it was pretty damn sloppy, and there’s no excuse for that kind of work. We can debate the reason for this until the cows come home, but the bottom line was that she wasn’t ready to wrestle on live TV. The WWE should have given her more time to wrestle at house shows to work off the ring rust. Is that her fault? No, but one would think she’d have prepared herself better for her big return. I’m just hoping she’ll put on a much better performance this coming Monday – after all, this one will be live, and that means no editing!

Story #2: Maria gets all cam-whore for the Fan Nation.
Maria added a few photos to her WWE Fan Nation profile, and the results were nothing more than a few vain pictures that harkens to a 13-year-old girl’s MySpace page. We got the “digitized” photo, the black-and-white hoodie photos, the trout pout, and the “flatttering angle” photos. All in all, it shows that even a WWE Diva has too much time on her hands every now and then. (See the original post.)
Rating:
Hit or Miss?: 1/2 a star makes it a MISS. Really, all this shows is that either Maria has the mentality of your everyday camera whore (meaning they take a billion photos of themselves, not meaning they’re stripping or anything) or she had a serious lapse in judgment. Honestly, looking sexy in photos you obviously took of yourself is best left in high school. Maria, clearly, is long graduated – but is she really? I’m just glad to see that her famous trout-pout is her own move, not the photo director’s. Now I can aim my hate solely on her for unleashing such a horrid facial expression onto WWE.com and beyond.

Michelle’s Ready For Some Football!

Michelle McCool must be one of the many people who are psyched for the start of both the college football and NFL seasons, because her new photoshoot “Touchdown!” is shamelessly football-themed. It’s a little Maxim magazine for me, as it’s sorta cliche, but she does look quite good. At least she’s not wearing a tiny … Read more

Scream If You Want Itttttttttt…

She’s fightin’ mad! Okay, so maybe that’s not the case, but Natalya always seems to be intense – whether it be in photoshoots or in the ring. Her new photoshoot, “Fired Up”, sums her up perfectly: She’s never one to stay mellow. I really don’t like this ring attire, so the fashion aspect of this … Read more

It’s Always Fun to Meet New People..

If you don’t know who Tiffany is, don’t feel bad – I’m not too familiar with her myself. She’s been largely unnoticeable on ECW, serving as Theodore Long’s assistant. WWE.com has finally decided to let her onto the photoshoot wagon, posting this new one, entitled “Having Fun”. I’m not quite sure I understand the relevance … Read more

Oh Hey There, Gail Kim!

Marketing gaffe or just poor timing? The poster for TNA’s Bound for Glory Pay-Per-View, which doesn’t take place until October, features one Gail Kim, whom we all know has recently made an exit from the company. Obviously, the poster holds no bearing towards her status with TNA, but it’s proof positive that her departure was … Read more

You Get Me Closer To Goddddd

Yes, I’m referencing a Nine Inch Nails song with pretty much no relevance whatsoever. Sorry Eve, but when the most interesting thing about you is speculation that you may have dated Reggie Bush, then something’s wrong with your career. Case in point, Eve’s new photoshoot, entitled “Come Closer”. It’s pretty dull and uninspiring, and does … Read more

“Rock the Vote” With Candice & Batista

Can you hear the “Star-Spangled Banner” playing in the background? We’ve gone political! Following our post on Candice Michelle‘s appearance at the Democratic National Convention, we’ve received an e-mail from the lovely Jackie on behalf of AT&T regarding the Rock the Vote movement. She’s provided us with a few photos featuring Candice and Batista in Denver in front of the Rock the Vote bus, along with some interesting information regarding the Rock the Vote cause and how they, along with AT&T, are reaching out to young and prospective voters leading up to election day this November.

Check out the photos of Candice below, and click here to see all of the photos of the “Rock the Vote” bus. Obviously, for more info regarding Rock the Vote, visit RockTheVote.com.

As you can see, Candice and Batista are in front of what has been dubbed the “Rock the Vote Mobile Election Vehicle”. Wondering what that is? Here’s some more info, courtesy of Jackie:

The RtV Mobile Election Vehicle, launching in partnership with AT&T, will be stationed at Youth HQ right outside the convention center. Vehicle features include:

· A PSA Recording Booth where visitors record their very own PSA/Rock the Vote message to share with friends online or via video text messaging (MMS)

· Two Voter Registration Bays with computer stations where young people can register to vote

· A Mobile Music Bay where concert-goers can download RTV-related content to their mobile device and sign up for an AT&T RTV text message short-code, RTVOTE (788683), to automatically receive voter registration and Election Day reminders, polls, political quizzes, celebrity messages, and mobilization alerts

· A Framerz Bay where guests can use a tethered camera phone to take photos with an RTV celebrity, presidential candidate or political icon

· A Convention Karaoke contest where political pundits and politicians are paired with Rock stars to sing (potentially bad) karaoke to urge young people to get out and vote.

Please please please at least look over the information we’ve provided, and if you are American, get involved! Don’t make me come after you with a steel chair. I swear, I’ll get Jillian Hall to warble a few patriotic tunes for you all.. This election is extremely important, as you obviously know – I don’t have to tell you that. To get more information on this great cause, including how to get involved with this election just by using your cell phone, read more.

Purple Rain, Purple Rain..

WWE.com is on a purple kick, because Katie Lea‘s sporting the color in her new photoshoot, “Purple Reign”. She looks very “American Gladiator” here, posing in her ring gear and having no shortage of intimidating faces. It’s definitely her schtick to do the grimaces and hand poses, but maybe she could lighten up on them … Read more

Candice & Co. Want You to SmackDown Your Vote

Candice Michelle, along with fellow WWE-ers Shelton Benjamin & Josh Mathews appeared Monday at the Democratic National Convention as part of WWE’s long-running “SmackDown Your Vote!” campagin. They posed for photos with the likes of CNN reporter Jessica Yellin, news anchorwoman Katie Couric, and comedian Mo Rocca. The trio will be there until August 31st. … Read more

Michelle Perfects the Art of Sideways Glances

Michelle McCool must be taking tips from that Audrina girl from The Hills, because in this photoshot, “Pretty Purple”, it’s quite obvious that she’s going for a more mysterious look by way of looking anywhere *but* at the camera. I can’t say she achieved this, because she looks more bewildered than sly. That Ed Hardy-ripoff … Read more

Maria’s a Mad Hatter

Maria must be crazy about accessories, because she’s practically drowning in them in her knew photoshoot, “Hat’s the Ticket”. All of it looks pretty tacky, IMO. I mean, a chain-covered fedora? And sheesh, it’s studs and stars galore! All of this begs the question: if Maria were to produce a clothing line (which she has … Read more

Hello, Kitty!

The combination of bright yellow, orange skin, and platinum blonde hair usually makes me think of one of those cheap “boutiques” in the mall (or an Oompa Loompa), but as much as I want to hate this shoot, Maryse manages to pull it off. All of those factors, combined with a dress that hangs unflatteringly … Read more

Que Está Indo Sobre Aqui?

I’m going to be honest with you – whenever I do a Candice post, I’m always mentally skating the line between speaking my mind and holding back. You see, this Diva is probably one of the most “controversial” topics on Diva Dirt, and it’s tough to get in an honest opinion when there are people … Read more
