WSU Results & Videos (December 11): Alicia Wins WSU Title Shot, Kristin Astara Victorious in Debut

WSU original Alicia successfully won the open contract match for the WSU World Championship on Saturday night defeating Nikki Roxx. Elsewhere, Kristin Astara successfully made her debut defeating Niya. Results below:

“Alicia vs Roxx II” started off with WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage coming to the ring in an impromptu fashion. Savage stated that she had fractured her wrist, but it didn’t matter because the fans in Dunnellen, NJ didn’t deserve to see her wrestle anyway. Savage said she was going to do something she’s never done before in WSU and that was join the WSU commentating team! Savage called the entire night on DVD with WSU’s Robert Sternberg. Make sure to check out the DVD of this show to hear commentary of the entire show by the WSU Spirit Champion!

After Savage got to the broadcast booth, ring announcer Destiny was ready to start the show. However, she was interrupted by the WSU “All Guts, No Glory” Champion, Angel Orsini. Orsini, who recently had her belt sanctioned, has been on a tear in WSU defending her championship against all comers.

Angel Orsini announced that her scheduled opponent, Athena, had flight problems and was not here as scheduled. Orsini put out an open challenge to anyone in the locker room. Orsini’s challenge was quickly answered by Rick Cataldo. Cataldo said that his opponent Melissa Coates also was not here as scheduled. (Details on Athena/Coates, in our BACKSTAGE NEWS section below.) Cataldo said that Melissa Coates was off getting a vasectomy, but her loss was his gain and said he wanted to add some holiday weight, in the form of the All Guts, No Glory Championship, to his waist.

ANGEL ORSINI d. RICK CATALDO in 30 seconds to retain the AGNG Championship
Orsini made quick work of Rick, putting him away with a Kiss of Death.

Orsini said she wanted a real match tonight and asked if there was anyone else in the back. Jamilia Craft, not scheduled for the show, came out to accept.

ANGEL ORSINI d. JAMILIA CRAFT to retain the AGNG Championship
In a competitive match, Orsini put away the newcomer. However the story of the match was that Craft did hold her own against one of WSU’s best.

Results & Pictures from River City Wrestling (December 11th): Alissa Flash & Mercedes Martinez in Intergender Action

10

River City Wrestling held a show yesterday in Texas with Alissa Flash and Mercedes Martinez on tap. Results and pictures below courtesy of Brandon.

Last night, everyone expected some intergender action from Alissa Flash as she was suppose to take on Jax Dane and Ray Rowe for the RCW title. Frankly, that wasn’t the case. The night started off with RCW founder Brandon Oliver, and co-commissioners Jeremy Sage and Ray The Voice the ring. Ray the Voice, along with Ray Rowe, announced that Alissa Flash was removed from the title match because he want no “broads” to represent the company as champion. He had paperwork to where Flash can’t compete for the title. That enraged Sage, and he turned heel, quit his job as commissioner and stormed out. Oliver agree to make the match “No Countouts and No DQ” for Jax Dane vs. Ray Rowe. BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

After the first match, Ray the Voice was in the ring, and out comes Alissa Flash, all pissed off. She said that Ray screwed her out of the title, twice now, and either demands to compete with any male talent or Ray himself. Ray responded by having a team of male wrestlers fight Flash and a partner of her choosing, but claims that there is no one in the back that wants to pair up with her. Correction, there is one – Mercedes Martinez! Her music started playing and she got the mic and told Alissa that she had some great matches with her, and it would be her pleasure to team up with her, and face two MEN in a tag match. She also stated that “women are the stronger sex” and whoever Voice picks for them will step in the ring with the best wrestlers in the world.

Fast forwarding to the match, Mercedes and Alissa (sidenote – came out to “My Chick Bad” by Ludacris. lol) wrestled the team of “Mr. Beautiful” Rudy Russo and his partner “Playboy” Andy Dalton. Lots of comedy spots in this match. Dalton struts like Ric Flair and shows his body to the crowd (insert puke). They had a “Sex Off” to see who shows more sex appeal, and obviously Alissa and Mercedes won that battle. Then they had a knip-up battle to see who kips up better. Flash did hers flawlessly, but Dalton stumbled twice, until Russo came in and assist him, but the women haters got double clotheslined by Flash. The girls then struck the boys in the back with chops, which sails them out to the floor, then come charge at them, pump the brakes, and chop them to their backs. The girls tried it again, but Alissa slides out to the floor, which scared the boys back in to the ring, where Mercedes is right behind them, and double chops them to the back, and give them a double clothesline.

New Queen of FCW Crowned

On tonight’s episode of Florida Championship Wrestling which just aired moments ago, SmackDown Diva Rosa Mendes became the new Queen of FCW.

Rosa defeated former NXT Rookie Diva, AJ who had held the crown for quite a while.

The Queen of FCW crown is not to be mistaken with the FCW Divas Championship which is still held by Naomi.

Diva Dirt’s Stars of the Week: Week of December 6th, 2010

28

It’s time to hand out some proverbial gold stars! Based on the week’s TV and news, each of the Diva Dirt team members have picked one female who they deem to be their ‘Star of the Week’. Read below…

April: I am going to be unbiased in my opinion here and give Mickie James huge props for her determination. I may not be her biggest fan but she put on a hell of a show this past week on Impact. She and Tara both gave the cage match their all but I think Mickie really stood out. It isn’t everyday that we see female wrestlers in a cage match. The match kept my attention, in spite of the slow moments and the high risk Lou Thesz from the top of the cage was the perfect exclamation point. Major thumbs up to Mickie James for her presentation this week. I applaud her aggression and again, her determination as a wrestler.

Cryssi: Is it possible to have two stars of the week? I make my own rules, haha, so yes. I’m picking two. Lets call it a tie. Anyway, we often gripe about TNA and accuse them of turning into the WWE in regards to their Knockouts division. We have seen crappy short matches in the past and rather pointless happenings that basically mean nothing to the division. But as of late, they’ve sorta picked things up and this week on Impact, two highly respected Knockouts headlined the show and competed in the main event. Mickie James and Tara faced off against each other in a steel cage match which saw some vicious spots and one hell of an ending that had Mickie leaping off the top of the cage. For the fact Mickie would go for a bump like that and Tara would take it makes them both stars in my beautiful hazel eyes. So yes, here’s to you Mickie and Tara. May the Knockouts division continue to deliver action like this.

David: My Star of the Week is Mickie James. After a deflating loss to Tara at “Final Resolution”, Mickie exacted sweet revenge on this week’s TNA Impact. First she broke up Tara’s brutal performance of “Broken” (which could have won her my award all by itself) and then she defeated Tara in an exciting steel cage match. I thought it was cool this was the main event of the show and it featured some solid wrestling action. I feel badly that Tara got injured in this match; hopefully she’ll be OK soon. In the end, Mickie’s Lou Thesz Press off the top of the cage was incredible, proving for one week at least that she is indeed…Hardcore Country.

Serena Heading to Japan

9

Former WWE Diva, Serena Deeb will be heading to Japan in January to compete for the promotion, SMASH which is run by former WWE star, Tajiri.

Tajiri made the announcement via his Twitter page that Deeb will be part of the January 29th show.

Thanks to John Hyperion for the tip.

Tribute to the Troops Spoilers

Spoilers for next week’s Tribute to the Troops show below:

Spoiler
* Natalya, Kelly Kelly & The Bella Twins def. Lay-Cool, Alicia Fox and Melina. Melina worked as a heel in this match. Kelly Kelly picked up the victory.

Judging by these spoilers, we can probably expect WWE to make Melina’s heel turn permanent on Raw this coming Monday. This show will air 6 days later.

Tribute to the Troops Pictures & Notes, Divas to Appear on ‘The View’

WWE taped its annual Tribute to the Troops special today in Ft. Hood in Texas. The special will air next Saturday on NBC.

As usual, the Divas donned their sexy Santa outfits for the annual event. Pictures can be seen below via Joey Styles’ Twitter.

Styles also confirmed that Eve Torres and Rosa Mendes taped a segment with special guest Sherri Shepherd which will air on ‘The View’, the show she appears as co-host on.

‘Diva of the Year’ Slammy to be Determined with Battle Royal

56

Monday’s Slammy Awards special episode of Raw will see a Divas battle royal to determine who wins the ‘Diva of the Year’ Slammy.

Elsewhere, Beth Phoenix eliminating Great Khali from the Royal Rumble match in January and Mae Young defeating Lay-Cool on ‘Old School’ Raw are both nominated for ‘Knucklehead Moment of the Year’.

Full nominations here.

Thoughts: Although the Slammys mean very little in terms of actual recognition (they are storyline devices), WWE did a great job in giving it to Beth in 2008 and incorporating into her character and making her seem that much more important. Yet this year as well as last year are pretty much a joke. The Slammy could be used to enhance storylines as it did with Beth, but nope.

Live SmackDown During Christmas Week

12

WWE will be serving up a live episode of SmackDown during Christmas week, according to PWInsider.

But that’s not the only change: the day, time and network will also be different.

SmackDown will go live on Tuesday, December 21st at 9pm on USA Network instead of Syfy. Airing the episode a few days early means that it won’t have to have a first-run airing on Christmas Eve when audiences are generally lower for television shows.

With a live pay per view on the 19th, a live Raw on the 20th and now a live SmackDown on the 21st, it’ll be a fun few days for WWE fans before Christmas.

SmackDown Redux (December 10th, 2010): Lay-Cool Humbled. For Now.

So this week on WWE television we were treated to a double dose of Lay-Cool (Layla and Michelle McCool for those of you who are new to WWE wrestling…) as the former co-Diva Champions appear on Raw and their home show, SmackDown. On Raw, we were privy to their innermost thoughts as they joined the team of Jerry “The King” Lawler, Josh Matthews, and CM (God) Punk for commentary. Post Natalya/Melina match, Lay-Cool treated the champ to a beatdown. Typical Lay-Cool, eh? Well on SmackDown, Natalya made sure the same fate didn’t await her as she took on Layla in a singles match. The hot Canadian Diva brought a partner down to the ring with her.

Beth Phoenix, the Glamazon. Lets take a look at what went down.

Lay-Cool head to the ring first and can I just break kayfabe here for one second and say, my damn Michelle looks fierce tonight?! At times, she truly does put other women to shame. But anyway, Lay-Cool are walking to the ring and up on the Titan Tron a video package highlighting what went down between Lay-Cool and Natalya at the conclusion of Monday’s match against Melina started to play. Lay-Cool were quite proud of their actions and Layla even started to stroke her imaginary beard as the girls got settled inside the ring. Natalya’s music hits and the WWE Diva’s Champion makes her way onto the stage. She pauses and smiles (while she wears my favorite outfit of hers) and she looks down at the ring. That smile gets even brighter when Natalya’s music fades and the Glamazon’s music hits. Beth walks out and joins Natalya, much to the chagrin of Lay-Cool, and both blonde beauties walk down to the ring.

More TNA Impact Spoilers

More spoilers from tonight’s Impact taping. Unsure when this will air as they’re taping so much out of sequence; it will either be December 30th or January 6th.

Impact Write-Up (December 9th, 2010): A Hardcore (Country) Main Event

We are pleased to welcome new Diva Dirt writer, April, who is taking over the Impact Write-Up.

This week on Impact was just saddlebags full of Knockout action. First, we saw the vacating of the Knockouts Tag Team Championship, the return of the Scream Queen, Daffney and a first for TNA: a Knockouts steel cage as the main event, between Mickie James and Tara. Take a deep breath, you’re gonna need the oxygen…

Our first glimpse of the TNA Knockouts on this episode of Impact comes via video package from August 05, 2010 where Taylor Wilde and Hamada win the TNA Knockouts Tag Titles. Mike Tenay announces that Hamada has left the company due to passport issues. With Hamada gone, the titles are obviously up for grabs and their new owners will be determined tournament-style. It is announced that Sarita will be teaming with the returning Daffney (odd team, much?) against The Beautiful People, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.

Later, Tara is seen backstage, tuning up for what is meant to be Tara: Live in Concert. Pray to whatever God you pray to because this is going to take some major miracle workmanship. Generation Me is with her. All means of importance go out the window here. True, they may appear to look like Knockouts but they, indeed, are not. Tara’s attempt to one up Mickie James is up next.

TNA Reaction Watch (December 9th, 2010): Watch Out Madison, Mickie’s Coming

WWE Superstars Redux (December 9th, 2010): Eve Moonsaults to Victory

The Knockouts weren’t the only ones in the main event picture last night. Though obviously less prestigious (this is WWE Superstars after all!), former Divas Champions do battle this week on Superstars, Alicia Fox takes on Eve Torres Watch below:

Oh hey there, Ashley Valence! The short-lived NXT co-host has resurfaced and found herself on ring announcing duties on Superstars after a couple of months of brushing up in FCW. Not a bad job.

Eve is out first and is referred to as ‘Steve Torres’ on commentary by CM Punk. Umm, I’m not even going to touch that.

After Alicia comes out, it’s go time as the Divas get off to an iffy start before Eve rolls across Alicia’s back in a back body drop attempt and counters into an armdrag. Nice maneuver by Torres. After another arm drag, Eve applies an arm-lock on Alicia as the Foxy Queen tries to fight out before eventually whipping Eve into the corner. Eve uses the bottom rope to help elevate her into a kick but Alicia ducks and then slams her against the canvas by the hair. Fox grabs her by the hair and again slams her against the mat before hitting her with knee strikes across the face and we see a near fall. Punk, meanwhile, cracks a joke that some days he wants to propose to Eve & others he wants to hit her with a shovel. Yikes!

TNA Impact Spoilers: December 23rd & 30th, 2010 + Upcoming Xplosion Spoilers

Spoilers for the December 23rd and 30th Impact below:

Spoiler
December 23rd:
* Backstage Sarita is beating up Velvet Sky and yelling at her. Sarita is using her belt to whip and choke her. Velvet makes some comebacks but is mostly beaten bad by Sarita. Sarita eventually hangs Velvet by the belt. Angelina finally runs in for the save.

* Finals of the Knockouts Tag Tournament, Madison Rayne & Tara vs. The Beautiful People. Velvet is nowhere to be seen. She’s probably too hurt from the attack. Winter comes out towards the end to be Angelina’s tag partner. She gets tagged in and cleans house. Winner via catatonic to Madison from Winter and new Knockouts Tag champions, Winter & Angelina Love.

December 30th:
* Strap Match, Sarita vs. Velvet Sky. Winner is Sarita. She was being choked on Velvet’s back and would hit the turnbuckles as Velvet made her way around. On the 4th one Sarita flipped Velvet over and touched the last turnbuckle. Sarita attacked Velvet after the match but Angelina Love made the save. Velvet was extremely upset afterwards and stormed off in a huff.

* Madison Rayne is out in an evening gown and has four guys in tuxedos with her. They’re carrying her to the ring and open the ropes for her. They all kiss her hand and leave. She screams at everybody to be quiet she has something important to say. She came out to all her adoring fans so they could see what a real champion is. Full of class and elegance, not like some corn fed, poor, country slut. Mickie James comes out and grabs the mic. She says what she’d say might go something like this and hits Madison. She beats her up and then rips Madison’s dress off. Madison bails and makes a run for it.

Xplosion:
* Sarita vs. Miss Tessmacher. Winner via sitout butterfly suplex, Sarita. (Source: Wrestling News World)

Another Knockout Gone from TNA?

78

While we know that Hamada is definitely gone, a new report in today’s Wrestling Observer suggests that her tag team partner, Taylor Wilde — real name Shantelle Malawski — may also be done with TNA.

The Observer writes: “Wilde’s contract may have expired as well. Was told for now she’s done, but they are open to bringing her back.”

During her time in TNA, Taylor made history as the first Knockout to have held both the Knockouts and Knockouts Tag Team Championships. She held the latter on two occasions: once with Sarita as the first ever champions and most recently with Hamada.

Wilde also recently announced her engagement.

Reported Plans for Melina on Raw

114

Though viewers will have gathered as much from this past Monday’s episode of Raw, there are plans for Melina to turn heel according to the Wrestling Observer.

WWE planted the seeds on Raw this week as the camera cut to Melina walking away as Lay-Cool beat down Natalya following their match.

It’s said that the heel turn will be a ‘slow burn’, resulting in her feuding with Natalya.

The Observer adds: “The idea was first talked about weeks ago and apparently she got heat because there were indications she was negative about it. They instead started a deal where she was going to get back with Morrison, but that was dropped after one week.”

Thoughts: I’m very excited to see where the writers go with this. I’ve been wanting to see Melina turn heel for a while now and honestly, the heel side needs strengthening because they’re relying far too much on Lay-Cool. Melina vs Natalya is a feud that many would like to see. I enjoyed the match this past Monday and think their work together could get even better. As for the ‘heat’, I find the word ‘indications’ to be telling. So she gets heat because someone thinks she’s being negative? I know WWE is less tolerant with its Divas but yeesh.
