Sasha Banks to defend her title against Carmella at TLC

The SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks has challenged Carmella for a match at the upcoming TLC pay-per-view. In a backstage interview where the women were separated during a “War of Words,” things got heated.

For weeks, Carmella has been attacking Banks from behind and saying how easy it has been to take down the champ. Last week she thought she was “calling the shots” and “giving the orders” until Banks showed up and locked her in the Bank Statement backstage. This resulted in the “separate locations” of the two women we saw this week.

Michael Cole provided the interview from the announce desk and wanted to start the interview with Carmella. Banks feels that Carmella has done enough running her mouth so The Boss wanted to speak first. Carmella mocked her by saying that she is going to say that she is “The Boss,” “The Blueprint,” and “The Standard.” Banks agreed and said she is also the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Cole brought up that these two women go back many years as they trained at the same time in the WWE Performance Center and were in NXT at the same time. Banks says she can give Carmella her props because she is a former SmackDown Women’s Champion and the first woman to win a Money in the Bank Ladder match.

Carmella corrects Banks and says she won the first TWO Money in the Bank Ladder matches. Banks doubles down by saying that Carmella always needed someone to help her win. First the man with no chin (James Ellsworth) and then R-Truth. Mella says that she can’t help that men are obsessed with her. Banks says that there is a reason the two of them have never gone one-on-one and that is because she is out of Carmella’s league.

Carmella fires back by saying that WWE was a dream for Banks. Banks had to work so hard to get to where she is to be the very best but that makes her jealous. Jealous that Carmella just walked right in and skyrocketed to the top. She throws it in Sasha’s face that she held onto the SmackDown Women’s Title longer than all of Sasha’s title reigns combined.

Carmella says she is going to take the title and Banks challenges her saying that she has never been in the ring with a “badder bitch” than her.

This is the second woman’s match that has been announced for the upcoming TLC event. The first was announced earlier today which will see the Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler defend their titles against RAW Women’s Champion Asuka and Lana. At the time of this writing, neither women’s match has any TLC stipulations added to them. There are still two weeks to build that in.

Team Shotzi earns the advantage at WarGames as Io Shirai rounds out the team

The main event of this week’s NXT saw Shotzi Blackheart and Raquel Gonzalez tear down in a ladder match. The goal? To earn the advantage for the WarGames match this Sunday.

Much like the men last week, the team members of each team were perched up top and isolated from ringside. Indi Hartwell pledged her allegiance to Team Candice and delivered a ladder where they could make their way down to help Gonzalez. Rhea Ripley and Ember Moon followed to help Blackheart. Hartwell continued to try and help as she set up a ladder in the middle of the ring but that just opened up the door for NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai.

Shirai made the leap to stop Gonzalez from making it to the top of the ladder to grab the briefcase. This led to the NXT Women’s Champion executing a moonsault that took out the entire WarGames field.

This opened the door for Blackheart to climb the ladder and secure the victory. Without saying a word, Shirai rounded out Team Shotzi as expected.

TakeOver: WarGames is this Sunday, Dec. 6, and will be Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Raquel Gonzalez, Dakota Kai, and Toni Storm) vs. Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai). This will be the second year in a row that Kai, Ripley, Shirai, and LeRae have partaken in a WarGames match.
