The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection should retain at WrestleMania

77

Sasha Banks and Bayley will compete in their biggest title defense this Sunday at WrestleMania. Their opponents in the fatal four-way are the IIconics, the returning Divas of Doom, and the team of Nia Jax and Tamina. Any of these talented teams could possibly win this match.

So who should win? The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection should retain the titles because their championship run has just begun. Banks and Bayley have only held the championships for a little over a month. A short title reign would seem foolish and unnecessary, after all the hype behind it.

Recently, Sasha spoke to Sky Sports. In the interview, she revealed that they were essential reasons why the Women’s Tag Team Championships finally came to fruition.

“It felt like the whole of last year we were asking, like we would be knocking on the door of Vince’s office every week,” Banks said.”Me and Bayley would go up to him and some weeks he’d say no and some weeks he’d say yes and then bam, it’s here.

You could see the real tears of joy in their eyes when they won them at Elimination Chamber. It was clear how much this meant to them.

As far as the other competitors in the match, it’s hard to imagine them winning the belts at this time. Beth Phoenix came out of retirement just recently and chances are she won’t stay for an extended period of time. This could potentially be a one-off.

Nia Jax and Tamina would make great heel tag team champions but they don’t have in-ring ability to produce stellar matches. Jax should return to singles action, where she is a better fit.

The IIconics, on the other hand, are a solid team who will eventually make great tag team champions. They have the on-screen chemistry of tag teams of the past. The two will wear those belts around their waists soon enough.

If the Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection retains the championship, it could set up a nice feud with the IIconics. Both of these teams can put on a solid showcase on the mic and in the ring, in a feud that could carry on into the next pay-per-view event.

Sasha and Bayley have been lost in the shuffle, taking a backseat to Ronda, Charlotte and Becky Lynch. As the Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection, winning the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Championships has given them both a much-needed boost.

Luna Vachon to be inducted into Hall of Fame Legacy Wing

According to WrestleVotes’ Twitter account, Luna Vachon will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a Legacy Award recipient on Saturday night.

Vachon’s in-ring career spanned across three different decades, from her start in Florida Championship Wrestling in 1985 to her retirement in 2007.

Vachon is best-known for her work in WWE, both as a competitor and as the valet to stars like Goldust and Gangrel.

Her noteworthy opponents include Alundra Blayze, with whom Vachon had a history dating back to their time together in FCW. While putting up fierce competition, Vachon was never able to wrest the WWF Women’s Championship away from Blayze.

Although, she did hand-pick Bull Nakano as an opponent for Blayze, who would eventually defeat the champion. Vachon also feuded with the likes of Sherry Martel and Sable, who Luna would compete in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania XIV involving Goldust and Marc Mero.

She’s took part in the first instance of intergender wrestling in the WWE on an episode of Monday Night RAW in 1998. She was also the first female wrestler to be featured in a WWF video game with the release of 1994’s WWF RAW.

Is Luna a worthy Hall of Fame honoree? Should she have gone as a normal induction, as opposed to the Legacy Wing? Sound off in the comments below.

Five wrestlers we’d like to see in Stardom

Stardom is in the midst of an attempted expansion into the western market. Mayu Iwatani, formerly of the dominant stable Threedom with Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai, is enjoying a run as Women of Honor World Champion, and will defend her title at G1 Supercard. Other Stardom performers on the card include World of Stardom Champion Kagetsu and High Speed Champion Hazuki. Stardom will also be running a show in New York on WrestleMania weekend, and their streaming service was recently overhauled to make it more attractive to viewers. Obviously, increasing their international fan base is a major priority.

One avenue that Stardom will surely continue to pursue is importing western wrestlers for tours with the company. Several such gaijin – including Toni Storm and Bea Priestley – built their careers in Stardom and made themselves into scoutworthy stars in the making. Half or more of the entire NXT UK women’s division have worked or currently work there. These women took things to the next level in their careers while Stardom added some variety to their roster. But the imports also serve an important function in attracting western audiences who might find Stardom alienating in the same way that comic books can be difficult to get into because of their dense, unfamiliar history. The gaijin wrestler’s existing fans are more easily lured into trying out Stardom than those without a reference point.

Stardom tours, then, are an opportunity for talented young wrestlers to raise their game and for Stardom to make themselves more widely marketable. Given that, I have a few suggestions of wrestlers that Stardom should actively target to bring on tour, wrestlers ready to elevate their work and elevate Stardom at the same time.

Alicia Atout named backstage correspondent for AEW

On the new episode of The Road to Double or Nothing, All Elite Wrestling announced their broadcast team for Double or Nothing. First, Alicia Atout will return as the official backstage correspondent.

Atout was also a part of All In. She recently finished up her contract with Impact Wrestling, where she had been conducting interviews as a backstage host since last June. She will make a tremendous addition to the team.

The commentary team will consist of Alex Marvez, Excalibur, and most notably WWE Hall of Famer, Jim Ross. Ross signed a lucrative three-year deal with the promotion, where he will also act as a Senior Advisor. He will make his first appearance at Double or Nothing

“I’ve been part of the wrestling community since I was 7 years old, and there’s no greater thrill than welcoming the voice that I grew up with, Jim Ross, to our AEW family,” said Tony Khan, President of AEW.

On the news Ross said, “I’m moving on in a very positive way to this timely opportunity to be on the ground floor of one of the most exciting moments in the history of pro wrestling.”

Brandi Rhodes brought Justin Roberts back as the company’s ring announcer to round out the crew. He is best known for his work with WWE from 2002 to 2014.

Joshi Puroresu to be showcased during WrestleMania weekend

0

World Wonder Ring Stardom have announced the full card for their American Dream in the Big Apple event, taking place in New York City this Friday. It is the promotion’s first-ever event as part of WrestleMania weekend. The matches were tweeted out today by the promotion’s official English-language account.

The opening bout will see Stardom’s JAN (Jungle Kyona and Natsuko Tora) take on Sonya Strong and Violette of House of Glory (HOG). JAN previously held the duo tag titles, the Goddesses of Stardom Championships, and twice held the trio tag titles, the Artist of Stardom Championships.

The event will also see a three-way tag match between the team of Brittany Blake and Britt Baker, Queen’s Quest’s Bea Priestley and Konami and occasional tag team partners Bobbi Tyler and Oedo Tai’s Hana Kimura.

The first of two title defenses taking place at American Dream in the Big Apple will see High Speed Champion Hazuki face off against Dust, also known as Zoe Skye. Hazuki is a four-time tag champion in Stardom and has held the High Speed belt for 100 days at time of writing. Dust is the reigning Heart of SHIMMER Champion, approaching a year with the title.

The second title defense will feature the defending Wonder of Stardom Champion Momo Watanabe face off against her tag partners, the upstart Utami Hayashishita. Hayashishita currently holds three of Stardom’s titles, the SWA Undisputed World Women’s Championship, the Future of Stardom Championship and the Goddesses of Stardom Championship with Watanabe. Utami is also the EVE International Champion, having won both that title and the SWA belt from the previous champ, Viper aka Piper Niven. She will surely seek to add Watanabe’s title to her collection as she continues her quest to become Stardom’s most dominant champion.

The final announced match will see Oedo Tai, represented by World of Stardom Champion Kagetsu, Andras Miyagi, Jamie Hayter and Session Moth Martina battle for tag team supremacy in an elimination match. Their opponents will be STARS, consisting of Women of Honor World Champion Mayu Iwatani, her trios partners Yam Nakano and Sami Kashima (with whom she holds the Artist of Stardom Championships), and Arisa Hoshiki.

Stardom performers will also appear at G1 Supercard, where Iwatani will defend her title against Kelly Klein, and Kagetsu, Hazuki and Hana Kimura will compete in a six-woman tag match.

What do you think of the card for Stardom’s NYC event? Will you be tuning in to watch? Let us know in the comments.

Alicia Fox to make first appearance since live event incident

47

Alica Fox is scheduled to appear at WrestleMania Axxess during this Saturday’s morning session from 8-12 This is the first appearance from Fox since the incident that resulted in the firing of long-time producer Arn Anderson.

Alicia Fox had shown up to work for a live event intoxicated and Anderson, the agent who was the producer for the match, allowed Fox to wrestle. Not only was this against company policy, but a huge risk to the safety of both Fox and her opponent.

Vince McMahon got word of Anderson’s lack of foresight and fired the Hall of Famer. There hasn’t been any sightings of Fox on television or live events since this incident occurred. Fightful had reported that WWE offered Fox rehab but she declined and went “AWOL”. Whether or not she has since entered rehab is not yet known, but her appearance at Axxess indicates she may be getting another chance.

Fox has been a mainstay with the WWE since her debut in 2008. Prior to her debut, she wrestled in WWE’s developmental territories, OVW and FCW. The appearance at Axxess may suggest Fox is returning to the ring soon. There’s even an outside chance we might see her enter the Women’s Battle Royal, which is scheduled for the WrestleMania kickoff show.

Are you looking forward to seeing Alicia Fox back on television? Leave a comment below and let us know!

Top ten women’s WrestleMania matches

In the last five years, the WWE women’s division has grown leaps and bounds from the way it used to be presented. The drastic change in the impact and quality of their appearances at the company’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania, is a definite indication.

WrestleMania 35 is this Sunday and it will feature the biggest women’s storyline in the history of the event. Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch will make history as the first women to headline The Showcase of the Immortals.

It’s a seminal moment for WWE and all the talent who’ve worked to legitimize women’s wrestling over the years. To tell the truth, the journey to this point has been filled with highs but there have been just as many excruciating lows.

There wasn’t a women’s match on seven WrestleMania cards, while other times they were the shortest match of the night. Then there were the more embarrassing moments like the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal.

That said, there have been some monumental women’s matches on The Grandest Stage of Them All too. Here’s our list of the ten best women’s matches in WrestleMania history.

Triple H is ‘thrilled’ for Chyna’s Hall of Fame induction

32

After many years of being passed by, Chyna is finally being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as apart of DX. Triple H appeared on CBS Sports’ “State of Combat” podcast and spoke candidly about Chyna’s induction and why it took this long to happen.

“It’s not a time-limit type thing …. I’m thrilled that it’s this year, partly because finally the time has passed where everything can just happen and it can be right for her where the moment of putting her in the Hall of Fame for this manner is about her accomplishments and not about anything else. That was always my bigger point of this. You can’t do it when [the negative] becomes the conversation. The conversation needs to be about her accomplishments and what she did here.”

Although this induction is being done posthumously, Chyna would be overjoyed that she is finally being appreciated by the company and sport she so loved. Chyna, along with the rest of the DX stable, will be honored this Saturday evening at WWE’S Hall of Fame ceremony.

What do you think of it taking this long for Chyna to receive an induction? Leave a comment below and let us know!

Lana and Rusev to co-write comic book with Jason Starr

In the latest episode from their vlogging channel, Lana and Rusev revealed that they will be co-writing their first comic book together. The comic book will be called Dark Country. Keeping the project under wraps, they declined to divulge anymore information apart from the title.

The WWE couple will be working on it with Jason Starr. Starr is perhaps best known for his work with both DC Comics and Marvel on works such as Wolverine Max and Punisher Max. Starr has also produced novels based on Marvel’s Ant Man character and DC/FOX show, Gotham.

Furthermore, the real life couple announced that they are holding a contest for aspiring comic book artist. In search of designers and artists to illustrate their story, Lana and Rusev suggest curious viewers to submit their portfolio to [email protected]. Winners for the paid opportunity will be chosen on May 15.

Considering the couple’s recent vocal frustrations with the company, it’s interesting to see them invest in non-WWE opportunities such as this. Perhaps it’s an attempt to add to their stock in case they do decide to walk away from WWE.

Stay tuned with Diva Dirt for future updates regarding winners for the contest and more details on the couple’s comic.

Post-Mania plans for Women’s Title picture already in place

Stephanie McMahon announced last night on RAW that this Sunday’s main event between Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair will be a “Winner Takes All” match for both the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Titles. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, per a Wrestling Inc. report, plans for the title picture post-WrestleMania are starting to take shape.

Meltzer has speculated that after the dust settles and a double champion is crowned at WrestleMania, the angle leading out of that would focus on the person who would have lost their championship without taking a pinfall or submission loss. The champion is expected to feud with whoever wasn’t pinned in the match.

Dave Meltzer proclaimed that no matter what happens, Becky Lynch is expected to walk out of Metlife Stadium with both the RAW and Smackdown Women’s Titles after WrestleMania.

The WON journalist also added that whoever takes the pin or submission on Sunday will depend on whether or not Ronda Rousey is going to be taking a break from WWE after WrestleMania. She’ll be taking the pinfall/submission to put Becky over if she were to leave. If she’s sticking around, then Charlotte would be the one to take the loss.

Who do you guys think will be standing tall at the Showcase of the Immortals? Tell us in the comment section.

Stephanie McMahon makes Mania main event Winner Takes All

The last episode of SmackDown Live saw Charlotte Flair unexpectedly win the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Asuka. That was enough to throw the entire main event of WrestleMania into a whirlwind. Since then, people speculated where this puts the Raw Women’s Championship match, now that another champion is in the mix.

At the top of the hour, Stephanie McMahon addressed the situation on Monday Night Raw. Without wasting any time, the Billion Dollar Princess declared the main event to be Winner Takes All.

That means that both the Raw Women’s Title and the SmackDown Women’s Title will be on the line. The winner will hold both titles. Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair could walk out of WrestleMania with another belt over their shoulders. Meanwhile, if she wins, Becky Lynch could be walking out of The Show of Shows with two shiny new belts.

With the new stipulation in place, who do you think will walk out of the triple threat match this Sunday as a double champion? Let us know in the comment section below.

Natayla details bringing “The Anvil” to WrestleMania 34

2

We are less than a week away from WrestleMania weekend and WWE’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This year’s class is stacked with legends who are highly deserving of the accolade, including Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Neidhart is being inducted alongside Bret Hart as their duo, The Hart Foundation.

Sadly, “The Anvil” won’t be at the ceremony as he passed away August of last year. WWE announced the induction on this past Monday night Raw after his daughter Natalya‘s match.

In a blog post she wrote for the Calgary Sun, Natalya spoke about how she brought her father to WrestleMania 34 last year and how much that trip meant to him.

“Last year, I brought my dad to WrestleMania 34.  I had this feeling that he needed to come as I wanted him to be around his old friends, family and our WWE Universe, and to have everyone make a fuss over him like I knew they would. And they did indeed.  My dad felt like the belle of the ball! Shane McMahon made a mad dash to my dad to hug him and tell him what he meant to him.  He also ran into … so many others who he greatly respected and shared moments in and out of the ring with. My dad knew the WWE family was his family and he was right where he belonged: home.

Natalya also took the time to discuss how badly her father longed for a Hall of Fame induction. You can read the post in full at this link.

Charlie Morgan injures ankle at Shimmer taping

10

Earlier we reported, Mercedes Martinez suffered a rib injury during a tag match at the Shimmer 112 event in Berwyn, IL. It turns out Charlie Morgan also injured herself at the event.

Morgan made her Shimmer debut on Saturday at Shimmer 110 in a match against none other than Mercedes. Last night, the UK native had to be helped to the back after she landed wrong on a dive attempt.

The injury in question happened in a tag team match, where Charlie teamed up with Kris Wolf for her last match at the Eagle Club against Charli Evans and Jessica Troy. Fans at the taping noticed Morgan randomly disappeared at some point and Wolf had to finish the match alone.

Commentary explained it away as an attack on the outside by her opponent, but she was actually aided away after the dive.

Shimmer provided an injury update for both Morgan and Martinez on their Twitter account. “Charlie Morgan has torn ligaments, but not a broken ankle.” It’s unclear how severe tear is but at least they ruled out the possibility of structural damage.

We wish Charlie Morgan a quick recovery. Check back with Diva Dirt for more news on the Shimmer tapings from this weekend.

Mercedes Martinez suffers bruised ribs at Shimmer 112 event

6

Former Phoenix of RISE Champion, Mercedes Martinez, appeared to suffer an injury today in a tag team match at the Shimmer 112 event in Berwyn, IL.

The taping was delayed while onlookers waited to see if she could get up on her own volition. Eventually, Martinez had to be carried out on a stretcher.

Shannon Walsh reported, “This looks bad. Shimmer has been delayed. It was Mercedes Martinez and Cheerleader Melissa vs. DASH Chisako and Hiroyo Matsumoto. Matsumoto powerbombed Melissa right on top of Martinez. DASH was waiting to come off the top with a frog splash but Martinez was clearly hurt.

“Dash waited up on top then came down to carefully go for a pin, but Martinez brushed her off. The match ended in a DQ when Melissa hit DASH with a chair. Mercedes was not moving but holding her side. Rise owner Kevin Harvey and Lexie Fyfe came out very concern to see what was going. Lenny Leonard sounded somber and said they were going to a break instead of focusing on the situation.”

Afterward, Squared Circle Sirens disclosed that Martinez’s diagnosis was bruised ribs. She will make a speedy recovery.

We here at Diva Dirt wish Mercedes Martinez a swift recovery.

Bea Priestley set to make US debut with Stardom

Bea Priestley recently interviewed with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. They discussed All Elite Wrestling and her first US appearance with Stardom. The 23-year-old Brit is one of the hottest commodities on the independent circuit.

Recently, All Elite Wrestling announced that Priestley signed with the new promotion on an episode of “Road to Double or Nothing”. Since, Priestley also wrestles for Stardom and other promotion, Sapp asked her how she will split her time.

“It was great being acknowledged on Road to Double or Nothing. I’m so excited to see the plans for AEW unfold! I have a big surprise that I will be announcing soon that will answer any questions about (how I will divide my time),” Priestley told us.

Priestley makes her U.S. debut this Friday in Queens, NY for Stardom during WrestleMania weekend.

“This will be my first time wrestling in USA,” Priestley told Fightful.“I’ve had the opportunity to wrestle in America before, however, I always wanted it to be a special debut, so Stardom is the perfect place to do it.”

If you haven’t heard of Brea Priestley yet, you most certainly will soon. At such a young age, the sky is the limit for her to achieve greatness in sports entertainment.

Ronda Rousey surpasses Alexa Bliss’ title record

Ronda Rousey has had a tremendous first year with WWE and her list of accolades continues to grow. Rousey has officially surpassed Alexa Bliss as the longest reigning RAW Women’s Champion.

Alexa Bliss previously held the record at 223 days. The Baddest Woman on the Planet just made 224 consecutive days as champion.

Rousey has held the title since she beat Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. Bliss still holds the longest combined tenured reign at 398 days. Charlotte Flair is second with 242 days.

With WrestleMania just a week away, her reign could end at MetLife Stadium. She will put her title on the line in a triple threat match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in the main event.

It has previously been reported that she is not scheduled for any appearances after the event. Also, rumors have circulated that she will be taking time off, which could be a sign that she will lose the title.

Additionally, her undefeated streak in singles competition is at stake as well. She has only lost one televised match since her debut at last year’s WrestleMania. Her only losing effort was a tag team match on RAW where her partner Natalya was pinned by Sasha Banks.

What do you think about Ronda Rousey becoming the longest reigning Raw Women’s Champion?

Tenille Dashwood announces she’s a free agent

28

Tenille Dashwood is officially a free agent. The now-former Ring of Honor star made the announcement on her social media accounts, with the caption “Free agent. Happy, healthy, & healed.”

As previously reported, Tenille’s ROH contract expired at the end of this month, but it’s unclear if she is still in negotiations with the company to sign a new contract. In addition, the Aussie native confirmed she has been given a clean bill of health.

Dashwood made her return back in January after she was forced to take time off to deal with a reoccurring skin condition and undergo shoulder surgery. She hasn’t competed in a match with ROH since she unsuccessfully challenged Sumie Sakai for the Women of Honor Championship at Death Before Dishonor XVI on Sept. 28, 2017.

Initial reports suggested she was still in negotiations with Ring of Honor to sign a new deal, but Dashwood’s posts imply she has chosen to become a free agent. We will provide an update when more information is available. For now, it’s reassuring to know Tenille is healthy and ready to compete again.

What do you think? Where would you like to see Tenille Dashwood end up? Drop a comment below.

Taya Valkyrie sports a black eye in injury update video

Impact Knockouts Champion, Taya Valkyrie, took to Twitter this afternoon to update fans on an injury she suffered during an intergender tag match yesterday. She initially posted a picture of the bruises and swelling last night.

Apparently, this was the result of a missed moonsault, which left her with a severely swollen eye and contusions across her face.

“As you can see, my face is still super swollen,” Valkyrie said. “We got some x-rays and stuff done last night because the pressure on my eye was actually really bad, but I don’t have any fractures. Thank God. It’s just severe swelling on the whole right side of my face, so, it’s just putting pressure on my eyeball. And some contusions. I just have some eye drops and lots of icing and I just have to try to stay positive even though I look like this.”

Later, when asked who responsible was for this Valkyrie replied, “Nobody, it was an accident. This is pro-wrestling and accidents happen. I’ve executed 1000s of perfect moonsaults. Tonight, something just went wrong. That’s all.”

Luckily, the injury isn’t critical, but it did force her to cancel a booking this weekend.

We wish Taya Valkyrie a swift recovery. Hopefully, this won’t affect many of her engagements going forward.

Michelle McCool wants equal pay for women main eventing Mania

47

Former WWE Divas Champion Michelle McCool recently spoke with TMZ Sports. She spoke on topics that included fighting for match time during her tenure and current equal pay. Both topics were brought up as a result of the women main eventing WrestleMania in just one week.

On her retirement match with Layla, she said,“Gosh, you know it was so cool because when I was wrestling, we literally fought tooth and nail to get… I remember my retirement match, Layla and I truly fought for weeks begging for ten minutes and that was with our entrances so maybe like a six or eight-minute match.”

She continues to add that there are “not enough words” to describe where the women are today. She attributes a lot of the success of women’s wrestling in WWE to the “super fans.”

Regardless of the gender in the main event, McCool thinks the pay should be equal.

“A main event is a main event whether it’s the guys, the girls, or both of them in some mixed capacity, but I hope they do and I think they should.”

In order to see the full interview from TMZ Sports, you can click here. Transcripts were used from the report given by Fightful.

Allie written off Impact in controversial death scene

Last night, the latest AEW signee, Allie, ended her time with Impact in dramatic fashion. In her final appearance, her character was killed off when Su Yung stabbed her in the neck.

The “Against All Odds” special was the culmination of the Demon storyline. Rosemary brought Allie to “The Undead Realm” to save her soul. In the end, she sacrificed herself to save Rosemary, suffering a bloody death at the hands of Su Yung. The act of love reunited her with soul, making her whole again.

As previously reported, All Elite Wrestling confirmed Allie signed with the promotion in a recent episode of “Road to Double or Nothing.” This was the last of her tapings with Impact after they decided not to renew her contract. However, this goes to show there was no animosity here.

Allie even went to Twitter to express her satisfaction with how her time with the company ended.

There is some mixed reaction among fans, but this indicates how much Impact valued her contributions to the promotion. Wrestlers don’t always get a proper send-off, so it’s telling that they took the time to write her off and wrap up her story with Rosemary.

What did you think of “Against All Odds”? Are you excited to see what Allie will does next AEW? Drop a comment below.

Beth Phoenix to make her in-ring return on RAW

41

WrestleMania is just a week away and the go-home RAW is this Monday. The Women’s Tag Team Champions, the Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection (Sasha Banks and Bayley), are set to defend their titles in a fatal four-way match at WrestleMania. WWE have just announced a preview for this match that will take place on RAW.

Banks and Bayley will team up with Natalya and Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix against The IIconics and The Samoan Slaughterhouse (Nia Jax and Tamina). Phoenix is stepping out of retirement to participate at WrestleMania. Her participation in this eight-woman tag match will be her first match on RAW in over six years.

Phoenix last competed on RAW against AJ Lee in Oct. 2012. She originally lost the match as a result of an inside cradle victory from Lee. However, Vickie Guerrero restarted the match. Phoenix would then win after delivering a Glam Slam.

This upcoming match on RAW will also serve as the first time The IIconics will ever wrestle on the red brand.

What are your thoughts on The Glamazon returning to in-ring competition? Would you like to see the Divas of Doom take the titles at WrestleMania? Let us know in the comment section below.

WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal is announced

It has been made official by WWE’s WrestleMania Twitter account that there will be a second annual Women’s Battle Royal. The announcement comes just days after Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Asuka will be placed in the Battle Royal along with the other women of the RAW and SmackDown rosters. The announcement also includes the NXT brand.

The “first” Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania occurred last year on the Kickoff Ahow. The match hosted 20 women who fought for a trophy and bragging rights. Naomi came out on top and won that match by last eliminating Bayley.

A stipulation for the winner has not been announced at this time. With both main titles in the main event, it might be a nice reward for the winner of the battle royal to become no. 1 contender.

We previously listed our five moments that we would want to see at WrestleMania. Among the entries was hopes for a Women’s Battle Royal match this year. Could any of these predictions come to fruition?

Who do you predict coming out as the winner of this match? Could Asuka pull it off and seek some retribution? Who would you like to see involved that is not currently on the main roster? Let us know in the comment section below!

Alicia Atout leaves Impact Wrestling

It is being reported by PWInsider that Alicia Atout is leaving Impact Wrestling. Her contract is up with the company and her final tapings are all wrapped up. Atout had been serving as an interviewer since June. She is the second interviewer to leave the company recently. McKenzie Mitchell left at the start of the year. Her profile has been removed from the Host and Announcers section of Impact’s official website.

Other than her time with Impact, she is also known for her vlogging on her website –AMBY (A Music Blog Yea) – where she is known as The Interview Queen. She has most recently interviewed All Elite Wrestling’s Kenny Omega.

There is no current word on where Atout will appear next and what the future holds for her. She took to Twitter to promise that good things were coming.

With the great skill that Atout possesses and the success she has amounted to so far, the sky is the limit of where she could go next. Maybe she will make a trip to AEW?

Where would you like to see Alicia Atout next? Let us know in the comment section!

Sources say WrestleMania main event keeps options for Becky Lynch open

It appears that the picture regarding the women’s titles and WrestleMania main event is becoming clearer, especially in the case of the future of Becky Lynch.

This afternoon, Tom Colohue, a freelance writer for PWTorch, shared information he received from sources within WWE regarding the main event with Kristen Ashly of Diva Dirt.

According to Colohue’s first source, Vince McMahon likes to keep his options open for the Superstar Shake-up, leaving plans for Becky Lynch wide open.

“Vince always stays quiet around Shake-up time. He likes to keep his options open and this means Becky can stay on Smackdown.”

The second source hints at the idea that McMahon would prefer to keep Becky at SmackDown Live ahead of their move to FOX, but recognizes her need to hold a title.

“If it’s one-on-one, Rousey taps and Becky goes to Raw, or Becky’s dead in the water. Vince doesn’t like either of those options. Adding another title as well adds better options.”

During last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, Charlotte Flair faced Asuka in a title match, in what Fightful reported as a sudden change of plans. Flair won the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Asuka, adding a second title to the triple-threat match set as the main event in this year’s WrestleMania. The triple-threat, as of the time this article is being written, is for the Raw Women’s Championship, between Ronda Rousey, Flair and Lynch.

Thought it’s still unclear what, if any, stipulations will be added to the match to produce a desired outcome, it’s clear that Vince McMahon has very specific ideas for Lynch.

What do you think Vince McMahon has up his sleeve for Becky Lynch? What do you think the outcome of the triple-threat will be? Let us know in the comments below.

Torrie Wilson was surprised to learn of Hall of Fame induction

Current WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Torrie Wilson, spoke recently on The Jim Ross Report in reference to her induction. It was announced earlier this month that Wilson received the spot as this year’s female inductee; apart from Chyna‘s induction with D-Generation X, of course.

Wilson was shocked to hear that she was selected because she was not expecting to hear this news. She figured when she received the phone call she was just getting a general invitation to the ceremony.

“Yes, I was [surprised about the induction]! Actually, Mark Carrano called me and I was on a retreat. And I thought he was calling me to invite me to watch the show and he kind of threw me for a little loop there.” Wilson added, “yeah, I was definitely surprised!”

Wilson further comments on the important question that many fans think of when someone is announced as an inductee: Who is going to announce her induction? Presently, there is word that the ceremony will be shorter this year, so it may be possible for some to not have an inductor.

Further topics of discussion included Wilson’s take on the current talent in the women’s division and how the landscape has changed. You can listen to the entire podcast from Jim Ross by clicking here. Transcripts used are from the report by Wrestling Inc.
