It is June, and that means the LGBTQ community gets to celebrate extra hard about being ourselves every day for the whole month! Because of that, every day throughout the month, we are going to spotlight one LGBTQ+ wrestler. These names will not be in any order, so this won’t be a countdown but more of a highlight to celebrate.
- June 1 – Toni Storm
- June 2 – Sonny Kiss
- June 3 – EFFY
- June 4- Mercedes Martinez
- June 5 – Sandy Parker
- June 6 – Anthony Bowens
- June 7 – Cassandro
On June 8, we are going to chat about Gisele Shaw.
Gisele Shaw has been wrestling for the past decade. She came out publicly in 2022, stating she is living her life as a trans woman. She was 22 years old when she first came out privately. Shaw started her career in Canada and moved on to the British wrestling scene, where she had wrestled for RevPro and PROGRESS, winning championships for both promotions. She also wrestled with Pro Wrestling EVE, winning the tag titles with Emersyn Jayne.
Shaw made noise in the United States when she joined TNA/IMPACT in 2022. She worked with the company for two years. In those two years, she wrestled the likes of Jordynne Grace, Tasha Steelz, Trinity, Deonna Purrazzo, Killer Kelly, Masha Slamovich, and more. She headed the SHAWntourage, which included fellow LGBTQ talent Jai Vidal as well as Savannah Evans.
In 2024, Shaw asked for her release after a two-year stint with TNA. She would help start Maple Leaf Pro in Canada, where she is the current and inaugural MLP Women’s Canadian Champion. She defeated Kylie Rae to win the title.
Shaw is a strong light for the transgender community and hopefully we will continue to see her name shine.
