Lynch And Stratus Sign NOC Contract; Shotzi Becomes Rodriguez’s Tag Partner

Night of Champions biggest women’s bout has been signed on the dotted line. On the May 22 Raw go-home episode, Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus had a contract signing. Stratus made note that this is her first ever and vowed it would be Lynch’s last.

Lynch quickly signed the contract prior to Stratus making her way out to the ring. When Trish entered the ring she started the talk first. She continued to gloat that there wouldn’t even be contract signings if it weren’t for her. She adds that she has been number one since stepping foot into WWE and didn’t need a punch in the face to become so.

Lynch would eventually bite back and stated even with the badness in her head she has had a a career that Trish can only dream of. She says if Trish thinks barking like a dog was embarrassing, just wait until she beats her at Night of Champions. Becky added a bitch and a woof to the end of the segment which cause Stratus to dump the table on Lynch before running out of the ring.

Elsewhere on Raw we had two women’s matches. First we had Zoey Stark take on Candice LeRae. Prior to the match a vignette aired for Stark which was a nice touch to promote the newly called up talent. The match itself should have been twice as long as they gave it, but it served its purpose.

Nikki Cross did come out to ringside in an attempt to help LeRae but it would still be Stark to pick up the win. She delivered a Z360 and got the pinfall.

The second match was between Raquel Rodriguez and Sonya Deville. Rodriguez defeated Chelsea Green last week after finding out Liv Morgan was injured and the two couldn’t defend the tag titles. The titles have now been vacated and new champs will be decided next week.

This was another rather short match which Rodriguez would win off of a spinning senton in the corner and then the Texana Bomb. Post match, Green kneed Raquel in the head before Deville took her down with a running knee. Shotzi’s music hit and she came down to make the save.

Later it was confirmed that Shotzi would be the partner of Rodriguez in the upcoming Fatal Four Way on May 29. The other two teams involved are Shayna Baszler/Ronda Rousey and Bayley/IYO SKY.

Maxxine Dupri was on this week as the valet for the Alpha Academy. It seems she may have jumped shipped from the Maximum Male Models as they haven’t been too pleased with her absence. Dupri did have a run in with Valhalla ring side but she scared her away. This did help Chad Gable pick up the win.

New NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Crowned At Vengeance Day

We have new tag team champions in the women’s division of NXT.

The unlikely duo of Kiana James and Fallon Henley are the new champions as they defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter at Vengeance Day. This is the first gold for both Henley and James in WWE. This ended the reign of the KC’s at 186 days. This was the longest reign of any women’s tag team across both NXT and the main roster.

The final moments of the match took place when Chance went up top for her 450 splash finisher on Henley. James knocked Chance off the turnbuckle to avoid the splash. This allowed Henley to get a pin on Carter while James held the legs down under the ropes as the referee didn’t see it.

The new champs celebrated in the ring with Brooks & Jensen.

The other women’s match of the event had Roxanne Perez retaining her NXT Women’s Title against both members of Toxic Attraction in a Triple Threat. It was originally a pure handicap bout as both Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne would dominate the champion. This came to a halt a third of the way through when Dolin and Jayne realized only one could become champ. Although at one point in the match, both Dolin and Jayne almost had Perez in a double pin after headbutting each other and falling on top of her.

Despite it being a true Triple Threat throughout most of the match, in the end, we witnessed Dolin and Jayne teaming again to try and take out Perez. They even brought out a table and set it up on the outside. It would end up being Dolin that went through the table from the ring post as Perez would then hit a Super Pop Rox from the top on Jayne to get the pin and the victory.

During the show, there was also a taped promo of Lyra Valkyria issuing a challenge for this week’s NXT and it appears that Valentina Feroz has accepted. The two face off this Tuesday.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals Set For Tonight’s NXT

Tonight’s NXT 2.0 will have the finals for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The two teams that made it through to the last match are Io Shirai & Kay Lee Ray vs. Dakota Kai & Wendy Choo.

As a recap of how this final match came to fruition, the two teams that Shirai & KLR defeated to advance were Lash Legend/Amari Miller and Kacy Catanzaro/Kayden Carter. Kai & Choo defeated the teams of Indi Hartwell/Persia Pirotta and Raquel Gonzalez/Cora Jade.

If Shirai & KLR win the gold it will be Shirai’s second reign as champion (w/ Zoey Stark) and the first for KLR. Kai won the Dusty Tag Team Classic last year (with Raquel Gonzalez) and became the inaugural NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. They were awarded the gold by William Regal after they faced Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles and were cheated out of a win. This would be Choo’s first gold in WWE if she were to win.

The winning team of the tournament will go on to Stand & Deliver on April 2 and face Toxic Attraction for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. This event is the same day as Day One of WrestleMania 38 and will happen at 1:00 PM EST.
