Nikki A.S.H. speaks on the detractors to her current character and who would be in her Superhero stable

The RAW Women’s Champion Nikki A.S.H. is having a great few weeks so far as champion. On this week’s RAW, she picked up a big win in a No Holds Barred match against Charlotte Flair in the main event. Despite being a champion and in the main event scene she still has some doubters.

Over the weekend, Nikki spoke with DS Shin from Ring the Belle. She had a message to those that may not be sold by her character right now. “It might just take little time to warm up.”

“When we approached this and when we came up with this, we put a lot of thought and love and a lot of time and energy into this. For me, I’m so happy to spread this message, and I’m so happy to show this character because it’s something I’m so proud of and satisfied with, and feel really fulfilled with. So for me, for the fans who are still warming up to it, that’s okay. That’s the joy of coming to a WWE event. That’s the joy of tuning into Monday Night Raw every week. You can resonate with the message, and it might be something you resonate with right away. Or it might just take a little time to warm up.”

Nikki is far from the first woman to fashion a cape in the WWE or in wrestling in general. She was asked who she would love to have in a Superhero stable.

TO THE NIKKIMOBILE!

“Mighty Molly and Super Stacy. I think we would be a formidable team. We also have the Hurricane. We have Shane Helms, the Hurricane Helms overseeing us. With Hurricane, Super Stacy, Mighty Molly, I think we would be quite a trio in the women’s tag division. I’m ready, let’s go. Let’s get in the Nikkimobile!”

As already mentioned, Nikki recently became RAW Women’s Champion. The night after winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, Nikki cashed in on newly crowned champion Charlotte Flair. The two along with Rhea Ripley are geared for a Triple Threat coming up at SummerSlam. DS asked Nikki what she did after she won the championship.

“My husband was on Facetime and I called, you know, my mom and my family. It was just so wonderful. Because of the time difference in Scotland, it was the middle of the night you know. So I’m calling my sister and my mom and tears were in my eyes. But I was also so happy, so they were happy. Joyful tears. I was just over the moon.”

Nikki talks about being back in Chicago and in front of the fans again for the first time in a long time. She speaks highly of the city as she worked many shows for the SHIMMER promotion before joining WWE. She speaks on the evolution of her gimmicks starting from her time in SHIMMER all the way to being Almost a Superhero.

“For me, there’s always a part of me in every stage. I think if you’ve been on this journey with me. Whether it was in SHIMMER at the Berwyn Eagles Club coming to cheer me or boo me, and then the NXT Nikki, and then the Nikki that was a tag team with Alexa, and then Nikki when me and Alexa parted. And then you’ve got now. And I think it’s all been different parts and different layers of the personality. We’ve just spent the last five years exploring that, developing that. So I think if you’ve been on the ride with me, and this roller coaster ride with me, buckle up! Because we’re about to go to even more amazing heights.”

No matter what Nikki is doing she always continues to have a smile on her face and her fans are loving it.

Top 5 women wrestler’s that inspired Jake Atlas

WWE’s first openly gay signee Jake Atlas recently sat down with DS Shin from Ring the Belle to divulge his top five women that have inspired him. Atlas recently made his debut on NXT in a losing effort to Dexter Lumis. Just like most gay men growing up, Atlas idolized the women of WWE through admiration and intrigue. He spoke to Shin about how it was the women of the company that inspired him to become the wrestler that he is today.

Generally from a young boy you would hear them say idols such as The Rock, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold influenced them to want to become a wrestler. For Atlas, and many gay youth, this was quite the contrary.

Let’s go through Atlas’ top five and see if these women were ever inspirations to you.

5. Maryse

Credit: WWE

Atlas starts off his list with the French Kiss herself, Maryse. Maryse was definitely a powerful heel during her mainstay with the company. He praised the fact that she came in green without wrestling experience and turned herself into not just a Diva but an in-ring presence. She also came into this without knowing English very well. Atlas explains how when he has been a heel character, Maryse’s portrayal is one he admired.

“I’ve always been a fan of heels. I’ve always been about the bad girls, the mean girls. It just looks so effortless for her. So sometimes whenever I have done a heel character I have done the hand gesture, like get out of my face, and it has always been a tribute to her.”

4. Gail Kim

Credit: TNA/IMPACT Wrestling

Atlas believes that Gail Kim is one of the best women’s wrestlers to exist. He mentions her move to TNA and is glad they were able to show why she is one of the best.

“I’m glad that TNA gave her the platform to acknowledge that she is one of the best. Her match with Tessa Blanchard was phenomenal. You know, I think I saw this on Twitter. Gail Kim vs. Tessa Blanchard was what Trish and Charlotte was for WWE at SummerSlam. That’s just generational. Gail Kim was ahead of her time, she was so good, I enjoyed her work at WWE. It was really awesome to just see her win the Women’s Title in her debut, because she is just so good,”

3. Sasha Banks

Credit: WWE

Atlas attributes Sasha for his psychological aspect of wrestling. Her sayings and thought process behind the art of wrestling is what he admires from her. He has adapted this into his own career and his own way of thinking about loving what he does.

“Again, just the heel character in her is what really drew me to her, but more than anything, she is just so passionate about this…..The one line I always say when I am about to go through the curtain is ‘I was born to do this.’ And maybe other people have said this in the past, but I got it from Sasha.”

“Another quote that she says is ‘be so good that they can’t ignore you.’ And that can’t be anymore truer for her. Mentally she is just so good at wrestling and you see that through her matches. Through the psychology of what she does. The Sasha and Bayley match, one of the best matches I have ever seen.

2. Aj Lee

Credit: WWE

Aj Lee is one female wrestler that Atlas believes was relatable to him. Through her advocacy on mental health and from her passion she showed for wrestling. He talks about her book and how she was meant to do this. He also recalls her FCW days and how he enjoyed her matches with Naomi.

“I remember at Payback when she won the Divas Title and when the referee handed her the belt, you could just see her face as she is receiving the belt. This was her moment. This was her crowning moment. Her whole life’s work into finally winning the top championship of WWE. I just connected to her from her FCW days when she would have the matches with Naomi, they would kill it.”

1.Trish Stratus

Credit: WWE

Let’s be honest, Trish Stratus was an idol for many people. She predominately was an idol for all of the gay youth growing up, myself included. She was also that way for Atlas. He recalls the story of not being able to see her main event match on RAW against Lita when it took place because he was punished by his mother. He recalls a funny story of how he blamed his mother for Trish losing the title that night.

He had the following to say on why she means so much to him:

“I remember before I came out, I would always say she was my girlfriend and that I would marry her one day. I just wanted to be her. She is the best of all time I think of the women. When it comes to the overall package. She had it. She was a superstar. She was the standard of what you needed to be.”

“She just made me feel everything about pro wrestling. She made me feel it all. She made me cry, I cried at her retirement match. I cried in her return, I cried for the Trish and Charlotte match. This was my person, my go to wrestler. You made me feel this about wrestling.”

Voices like Atlas’ are good for the community. Him speaking on his top five women’s wrestlers who have inspired him to do what he does is inspiring of itself. The women that we have grown to idolize whether it is in WWE or any other organization means a lot to those who feel as though they don’t have a voice.

What did you think of his list? Do you share any of the same women? Who makes your top five? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

Eve Torres fought to pass the Divas Championship on to Kaitlyn

Former three-time Divas Champion Eve Torres sat down with DS Shin from Ring the Belle and discussed her top five fan voted moments of her career. Eve started her career as a Diva Search contestant where she was crowned the winner in 2007. From there she began her training as she was completely green coming into it.

During the interview, Eve relished in the fact that the list that was put together was definitely the peaks of her career. One match, in particular, was a surprise match when Eve was inserted into the Divas Title match at the Royal Rumble in 2011. What was originally a handicap match for Natalya’s title between her and LayCool turned into a Fatal 4-way.

“It was a surprise to me too. Literally that morning, I find out and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, okay this is happening.’ And you don’t always know the reasons why things turn out the way they did, but I’m glad it did. It was a part of my career, it was a really meaningful match and there were some meaningful stories that were going on for that time.”

Another top moment on the countdown was Eve finally turning heel. For the first half of Eve’s career she was baby face. She felt that once she turned heel she found her element and that is when she really started to enjoy what she was exuding.

“Turning heel was so much fun for me. I was so over being a babyface. I was like no one’s buying this. Let’s just get over it! And having a meaningful story that people connected with a good babyface like Zack Ryder to work with. This was everything to me, and I really started having fun with wrestling.”

Eve’s exit from WWE was during a time where she seemed like she was at the top of her game. It was quite a surprise to many that after she lost her third title reign to Kaitlyn, she quit. She had the following to say about her exit:

“I honestly felt like there was a ceiling for me that I was not able to break. We’ve come so far. Where the women’s division is now if you had told me when I was there that women were gonna headline WrestleMania. I would have said, ‘get out of here. That’s never gonna happen.’ I felt like I was being controlled by other things that weren’t just me or my skill set or my work ethic, and I didn’t like that.”

Speaking of Kaitlyn, Eve was supposed to win a number one contender Battle Royal that ended up not happening due to a slip-up. As a result, Kaitlyn won. This allowed their feud to get heated and eventually lead to their feud.

“Sometimes the best stories come from mistakes. It was basically a botched spot where I was supposed to win and she did. She won the battle royal, and I was in tears afterward. I was like, ‘oh my god I ruined everything.’ But honestly, it created a more interesting story. Had that not happened, it probably would have been a very cookie-cutter Women’s Title experience. It just made it more interesting. So in hindsight, I’m so glad that happened.”

Kaitlyn was the one that took down Eve’s third title reign, but it was a fight to make that happen. She wanted to make an impression and go out by passing the torch. In the end she wanted the title to mean something, and didn’t want to just go out not defending it.

“I told them that I was gonna be moving on from WWE. At the time, they were not investing in women’s stories, and it was gonna be one of those things where I just went away. One thing I wanted when I left was to make this Divas Championship mean something a little bit more than what it did. And to pass that on [to Kaitlyn], I had to work very hard for that. I fought for that moment because they weren’t gonna give it to us. I wanted this title to matter, I wanted women’s wrestling to matter. And it’s a drop in the bucket of where we’re at now, but for me, it was really meaningful that I was finally able to pass something on. That was just special to me.”

Eve comments that she is still a fan of the product and highly invested in the current women within the company. Earlier she mentioned how she felt she wasn’t able to break the glass ceiling. However, one person she would love to get into the ring with has and that is Becky Lynch.

“I am obsessed with the women’s roster right now. There are great talents, but there are so many different characters that I’m just loving. Obviously, I love Becky Lynch. She’s The Man, right? So I would love to face her if I came back. If I stopped having kids, then maybe that will happen.”

Alundra Blayze talks on the pay gap and fighting for gender equality

WWE Hall of Famer, Alundra Blayze (also known as Madusa) recently sat down with Ring the Belle’s DS Shin for an incredible interview. They went over her fan-voted top five moments, which included the gap between what male and female wrestlers make as far as their wages. The topic was brought up as they were reviewing her WCW Scaffold match alongside Billy Kidman vs. Torrie Wilson and Shane Douglas.

After commenting on the bump she took from the scaffold she had the following to say:

“That is a crazy bump. That’s off the scaffold. A woman jumping and doing that and getting paid jack. Don’t even get me started, when it comes to money in my industry and the women and equality. That situation needs to come up more. Let’s talk about equality. I understand it’s still and always has been a male’s business. But now there’s more and more women and now they are making it, a woman’s done WrestleMania. Top billing, pay-per-views, ladder matches, okay it’s like we have all of that out there. Put it in my paycheck.”

Credit: WWE

She further agrees with Shin that there is always room for change and wants the women to not only get paid more but there is still a fight for equality as a whole.

Blayze also discusses her iconic move from WWF to WCW at the time with her infamous trashing of the WWF Women’s Championship into a trash can. This was most recently brought up again as a joke when Blayze won the 24/7 Championship at the recent RAW Reunion in July. She mocked throwing it away before Ted Dibiase would instead buy it off of her.

Credit: WWE

She discusses how she felt that the move to WCW was going to be a focus on women’s wrestling, however, this wasn’t the exact case.

“When I was coming over and that happened I was ready to kill it. I was serious. If they’re (WWF) not going to do anything with me then I need to say, hey, this is where the big girls play. Let’s do something. That was the idea. They were going to want to do something, bring women’s wrestling, and get the whole thing going. And again it laid flat because we had a bunch of men in the damn back in their circle-jerking office booking the thing. It just didn’t happen. There was no women in that booking.”

She wanted to make a statement with women’s wrestling in WCW because she felt that it was deserving and was needed. It worked well for a while but after the competition faded out it was hard to continue.

Shin brought into the discussion her return to the ring at Evolution where she participated in the battle royal match. Blayze would explain how and why she was eliminated in the fashion that she was.

“So you know why I went out like that (how she was eliminated)? I just want to tell everybody, there’s a lot of things that people don’t know. So people will put you down, they’ll do negativity, but no one knows the backstory of anything that’s going on in anybody’s life. I just want you to know, that in that match, I was only seven months post-surgery. I had a double knee replacement. Nobody knew that, and there you go.”

To check out the full interview simply click on the video above. They go over all of her fan-voted top-five moments. This includes her thoughts on intergender wrestling, the trash can incident, and her seeing Vince McMahon for the first time since that incident at her Hall of Fame induction.

Ring The Belle discusses potential Evolution 2 predictions

DS Shin and Paloma Starr of Ring The Belle discuss on their show this week the possibility of Evolution 2 still being talked about.

As the year continues to fly by there is less and less chance that a second annual all women’s pay-per-view is going to happen. For at least this year. It was announced last year in July and took place in October. July has come and gone, but there is still a slight chance it could still happen in October.

WWE has their Hell in the Cell event scheduled for Oct. 6 and then Survivor Series on Nov. 24. In the middle is Crown Jewel on Oct. 31. As we all know, women are not permitted during the Saudi Arabia event so there will be a large seven-week gap between events that the women will not be featured.

From an anonymous source to Tom Colohue via Sportskeeda the following was said about a potential Evolution 2.

“Talks never really ended but they were always brief. Some people were fiercely for it but the logistics didn’t iron out. Things are looking very different now. People higher up are starting to listen.”

DS and Paloma speak on rumors why originally Evolution wouldn’t happen again this year. Many people were saying that big names such as Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins being out hindered the chance. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch was a fan favorite over Rousey vs. Nikki Bella so that opinion could be argued. Now with Sasha Banks back in the fold and Trish Stratus vs. Charlotte Flair being a hit from SummerSlam, it is turning some heads.

Credit: WWE

Possibilities for Evolution 2 could be Brie Bella and Lita receiving retirement matches just as Trish just did. The thing with Lita is that the retirement match she had didn’t pan out so well for her. She came out on the losing end against Mickie James. That match took place at Survivor Series and Lita lost her title.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Trish won her original retirement match against Lita where she became a seven-time champion. Of course, both Hall of Famers have had a few matches since those retirement matches but maybe Lita winning her “final” retirement match could make everything come full circle.

Credit: WWE

DS and Paloma discuss potential opponents for both Brie and Lita. For Brie such names as Ember Moon, Asuka, Liv Morgan, Alicia Fox or even Maryse. For Lita big names such as Becky Lynch and Asuka were discussed.

Would you be interested to see Brie Bella and Lita get retirement matches as Trish had? Do you think what Lita has already done is enough or does she need some retribution to go out on top? Discuss your thoughts in the comment section below.

Beth Phoenix on the restrictions that were on the Diva’s division

Ring The Belle receives a once in a lifetime interview with the Glamazon herself Beth Phoenix. The four-time champion and Hall of Famer sat down with DS Shin to go over the fan-voted top five moments. During these moments she goes over her feuds with Candice Michelle, Kelly Kelly, and Melina. She also discusses the wonderful friendship she has developed with Natalya.

Phoenix was a focal point during the Diva era of WWE. This time was filled with many obstacles and restrictions for the women to receive matches and to be taken seriously on TV. She explains how she made it around those obstacles and restrictions during that time.

“We just tried our best to work within our comfort zones. We had to do things that weren’t great. I had to do bikini shoots. I had to do bra and panties matches. I had to do a lot of stuff I didn’t love and didn’t want to do. But I knew at the end, I’m here to entertain and make people happy. And I knew it would change. I knew in my heart, someday if we don’t give up, it’s gonna change. And it has.”

As a result of how far women have come in the WWE, Phoenix recalls her tearful reaction to the first crowning of the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

“That was so special. It did mean a lot to me because the girls felt as passionately as myself and Nattie. It wasn’t always nice. It was always a battle. It was always a fight. Every week you knew it was gonna be a fight. So I appreciated that the girls continued to fight and they got a win. That felt like a win.”

As a result of the fans picking her match against Eve at Survivor Series as a top moment, Phoenix divulges some juicy details about that match. Most particularly her memorable Super Glam Slam spot on Eve.

“It was Madison Square Garden. The same place where Bret vs. Owen took place, which is the match that inspired me to become a wrestler. And also, this particular move, we weren’t supposed to do in the match. This is pipebomb, but we were not supposed to do that move. Eve and I were like, we’ll take the flack. Whatever flack comes from this spot, they were concerned of the danger aspect, it was too dangerous, which I get that. But Eve and I knew that that would be the moment from the match. This is what it will take to make the match memorable, and we’re in Madison Square Garden….We took a risk, and we believed in ourselves. Obviously, fans remember it.”

Phoenix also comments on the wild feud that has been happening between both her husband, Edge, and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch on Twitter. From this, she explains her thoughts on her bestie Natalya facing Lynch at SummerSlam.

“I’m looking so forward to Becky and Natalya at SummerSlam. My best friend against somebody that I feel has changed the business. So I am really excited for SummerSlam.”

Summer Rae comments on Sasha Banks’ WWE status

Former WWE Superstar, Summer Rae sat down with Ring the Belle’s DS Shin to countdown the top five moments according to fans. Rae, whose real name is Danielle Moinet, speaks on many topics while discussing these moments. She comments on her time in NXT, the infamous Rusev/Lana storyline, her feud with Layla, and her friendship with Sasha Banks and much more.

The formation of the faction BFF, which was listed as a top five moment, is where Moinet mentions she and Banks were and still are good friends. Shin capitalized from this moment by asking the hard-hitting question about the rumors circulating about Banks. Moinet seemingly confused was unaware of these rumors about her friend being unhappy and wanting to quit WWE.

While she doesn’t know anything about the aforementioned situation she says there were many rumors of herself going around when she was with WWE. After mentioning that everyone goes through things she mentions that she stays off the dirt sheets. Moinet feels a lot of information that is provided is hearsay and the dirt sheets aren’t right at all.

Her sentiment rings true in many situations. There are always two sides to every story. We certainly live in a world where a big game of telephone is what dictates the current social climate.

Watch the full video from Ring the Belle to find out the rest of the fans’ top five Summer Rae moments. She also speaks on the slap heard around the world on Total Divas and talks on if she plans to return to the ring. Thank you to DS Shin for making this exclusive interview happen.
