Maryse Surgery Update: “Everything is Perfect”

21

Former Divas Champion Maryse recently received good news recently, as she has now recovered from her abdominal hernia surgery.

Maryse wrote on her official website:

I met with my surgeon today and she said everything is perfect. There’s a little bit of fluid inside by the incision and where the repairs were done, but its totally normal apparently. The scar healed really good and there is no infection. So the surgery was a total success. I’m sooooooo happy!!!

Good to hear. Hopefully Maryse will be back on TV soon.

Earlier this week, TNA Knockout Rosita was featured on NBC’s “Children of 9/11” documentary marking the 10th anniversary of 9/11 today.

You can watch the segments featuring Rosita below:

Today is of course the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Our thoughts are with all of the friends and families of victims, including Rosita and her family. We hope you will all keep them in your prayers too.

I’m sure Rosita’s father would be very proud of all that she’s accomplished as an Impact Wrestling star and former champion.

In Pictures: Stacy Keibler Stuns in Black at George Clooney’s Movie Premiere

10

New Hollywood couple George Clooney and former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler nonchalantly confirmed their relationship yesterday in Toronto when Stacy attended George’s movie premiere for Ides of March.

The leggy blonde looked stunning on the red carpet in a gorgeous black dress with a shredded back, and her hair neatly styled to one side.

Despite the show of support from his new girlfriend, the couple were careful not to walk the red carpet together. Instead George and Stacy walked the carpet separately.

The pair were, however, later spotted together at an intimate dinner.

Check out pictures of Keibs at the premiere below:

Okay, so now we need a couple name for them — Georcy? Steorge? Tell us your ideas! We need them badly. Ours are horrible.

SmackDown Redux (September 9th, 2011): Score One for Team Candy

62

After Beth Phoenix picked up a victory for Team Vegetables on Raw this past Monday, Divas Champion Kelly Kelly evened the odds on SmackDown last night by picking up a point for Team Candy. That’s if you’re keeping score.

Check out the Divas Champ taking on Diva of Doom, Natalya, below:

Out first is Kelly Kelly, looking fabulous in blue (Note to Kelly: This is your color.) while Natalya is out in black, with Beth by her side.

As the Glamazon and Hart Dynasty Diva make their way to ringside, Beth gives a Kelly a very sinister glare. What ever could Beth be thinking?

In the ring, Kelly is unphased as she quickly turns up the sass, saying something inaudible to Natalya while looking rather pissed off.

As the bell rings, Nattie runs at Kelly, attempting to get a jump on things by attacking her but Kelly cleverly scouts this and moves out of dodge, leaving Nattie to eat ring rope. Kelly then fires away at Natalya with forearm shots and then hits her with a bulldog. Kelly tries to pin Natalya but the Diva of Doom kicks out at one.

Kelly then jumps up on Natalya’s shoulders and positions herself over the top rope, locking in a tarantula position a la Tajiri. The champion impressively manages to choke out Natalya until the referee reaches the five count, at which point she must break it up. As Kelly jumps up on the apron to get back in the ring, Natalya viciously knocks her off sending Kelly flying off the apron and onto the floor outside. Kelly really does take those bumps to the outside well!

As Kelly struggles to her feet, her opponent for Night of Champions perches herself on the steel ring steps watching the champion with a smug look. Oh, we love it!

Natalya, continuing her aggressive streak, launches at Kelly from behind axing her across the back and sending her back down to the floor as Beth looks on approvingly. Natalya then adds in a hard slap across the face, humiliating Kelly further, before rolling her into the ring.

Back in the ring, Natalya revels in her handiwork as Kelly struggles to catch her breath and rise to her feet, but she isn’t going to give her the chance to — Natalya lays in a big boot to the stomach and sends Kelly reeling. Natalya again is relishing in the pain she has caused. Nattie talks trash to Kelly, getting right in her face.

Natalya now shows off her technical prowess, locking in an abdominal stretch on K2 who screams in agony as only Kelly can. Kelly, however, finds a second wind and begins elbowing her way out of the move but Natala is one step ahead, slamming her against the mat by the hair. On the outside, Beth applauds her partner.

Pin attempt by Natalya but no three count. Natalya then applies a chin lock and backs K2 into the ropes where she talks smack directly in Kelly’s face trying to intimidate her.

However, the intimidation doesn’t work as Kelly begins to fight back with a big slap to the face. But before she can continue the momentum, Natalya hoists her over her shoulders and begins spinning on the spot before tossing K2 over the top rope, but Kelly manages to hang on to the apron. Kelly with a shoulder tackle through the ring ropes and then a sunset flip attempt but Natalya manages to roll through and is in perfect position for a Sharpshooter. But before Natalya can lock in her signature submission, Kelly manages to roll her up into a small package and takes the victory.

After Kelly gets the win, Beth runs into the ring and begins laying in some vicious strikes but Kelly manages to flee the ring to safety. Meanwhile, Natalya is furious with her loss.

Thoughts: Loved this match! Natalya and Kelly really do have great chemistry. Natalya’s viciousness in this match shows was very well done. She was just the perfect level of vicious to live up to the ‘Divas of Doom’ nickname. Like the Beth/Kelly match at SummerSlam, the logic here was solid, with Kelly playing the underdog and eventually taking the victory in a surprise outcome. I would love to see what these two Divas could do in a 10 minute pay per view match.

Big props to Beth also, who I think added a nice wrinkle to the match from the outside. She came across sinister and menacing on the outside, perching herself on the steel steps watching on and clapping at Natalya’s viciousness. That definitely worked also.

One concern I would raise, however, is that I truly hope Natalya and Beth are booked as equals in Divas of Doom and that Natalya isn’t just booked as Beth’s subordinate a la Layla and Michelle. Both of these Divas are incredible, and I think it would be a shame if they made Natalya the ‘weaker’ of the two. I would like to see Natalya vs Kelly for the title, perhaps.

What did you think of this week’s Divas match? Tell us below…

Impact Write-Up (September 8th, 2011): A Little Life Blood Does the Body Good

33

Last week on Impact, we saw the crowning of a new Knockouts Champion, much to the dismay of many, and the promotion of a new VP for the Knockouts divison. I wasn’t aware that there was ever a standing VP for the division but hey, this is a Bischoff move here. We also saw a disgraced Traci Brooks, who had apparently demeaned herself to unspeakable actions just to get that so-called VP position but that’s a whole other Jerry Springer episode that we aren’t programmed for. This week is the first official week for the new VP in action and she’s pitting two teams against one another and the results are dastardly. Not to mention, we get a preview of wicked ways yet to come.

The first glimpse sees us backstage with the new Knockouts Champion, Mickie James and her adorable, oh my gosh cuteness pup, Elvis. She’s chit-chatting with Velvet Sky, who is congratulating her on the win last week. But I think Vel Vel has ulterior motives, messing around with the belt like that. She says she one day wants to know what that piece of history feels like, wrapped around her waist. According to Mickie, sure, one day she might. One day. But as of right now, they have a tag match and they have to prepare themselves for it. But that inner chi session will have to wait because Karen Jarrett just walked in the room.

First words out of her mouth are in regards to the living situation of the Knockouts locker room. Although, considering all the kids she has, I’m sure she’s used to making that observation. Karen, obviously not an active PETA member, sticks her face down at Elvis and he instantly makes the assessment that she’s evil, thus the growl. Good job, boy. Mama Mickie needs to give you multiple treats for that one. “Does this look like a kennel to you?!” Um, no. Actually, it looks like a locker room that just happens to have a dog inside of it. But, thanks for trying, Karen.

“Two dogs are enough in this room, we don’t need three.” Then I guess you might want to see yourself through the door, eh Karen? Sorry. I’m not bitter. Not at all. Regardless of my personal opinion on the matter, the new VP goes on to congratulate Mickie on her win and inform her that in three days at No Surrender, she’ll be defending her title in a rematch against Winter. Oh boy. As for Velvet, she better go out there and bring the house down because there is more to Knockouts wrestling than just shaking your ass. Obviously. Speaking of which, it wouldn’t hurt if Velvet dropped a few pounds. That comes from management so lay off the cupcakes. I is dead.

Finally onto the match, in a near main event status, comes the pair of Winter and Angelina Love. They’re looking pretty fierce, Winter especially, in their matching black and blue which is what, I’m sure, they’re looking to turn Velvet and Mickie. Speaking of, ahem, let me clear my throat. HARDCORE COUNTRY!!! I wish I could burn both of those outfits they’re wearing because I am not a fan. But regardless of how I feel or how Karen feels, for that matter, Velvet isn’t shy about her skinny fatass and LETS THE PIGEONS LOOSE!

Starting things off, it seems to be Vel Vel and Winter but a little conversating with her lady lush and the hold up begins. This gives Velvet just enough of a window to sneak a tag into Mickie, who pops in, ready for a fight as usual. But Winter isn’t having it and she tags in Angelina. A lock-up and an unceremonious hair toss across the ring does nothing but piss Mickie off. She comes back, taking a huge handful of Angelina’s hair, knocking her back with a full left hand. Ring around into the corner, throw a harsh elbow and up she goes, spinning Angelina around like a top. A swing at Winter, who is quick to drop to the floor leads to a rebound off the ropes. A blind tag from Velvet and Mickie catches it, setting Angelina up for a sliding dropkick from an incoming Velvet. But Vel’s momentum is horribly short lived when Angelina drops her with a harsh jawbreaker. That’ll lead to a call from the dentist.

Here comes the tag to Winter, going for the brutality but Velvet fights back, slamming the wicked one’s face against the turnbuckle. Across the mat and up she goes, MONKEY FLIP back around and Velvet is on fire. She looks to set Winter up for that bulldog but Angelina is in. Quick like a whip, Velvet jumps up and locks those feet on her shoulders and rolls them both around like a stick in a cotton candy maker. Gather up that sweetness for just enough gumption to whirlybird Winter about the ring. Oh hai, Velvet’s wrestling skills. Where you been hiding? I guess it would in the closet, away from Angelina’s outside interference that lands you on your face.

It gives Winter the space to slam Velvet’s momentum down the sewer, trapping her in the corner. She purposely baits Mickie into the ring and gives Angelina time to choke Velvet back, giving into the double team. Vel Vel tries to fight back, scrambling to her corner but that hard hitting bridge suplex from Winter stops it all. A tag in to Angelina and she slaps a cheap shot across Mickie’s face. But the champ is feisty and comes barrelling back in, getting pushed back out by the senior official. This leads to some odd work of a would be double team that just didn’t happen. I don’t know what happened here. All I can say is that it ended with an awkward side slam of some kind from Velvet. I can’t describe it.

Taz makes a good point here, about Earl Hebner. He is the senior official and he ALWAYS referees the Knockouts matches. Huh. Anyway, the match is still going on and Velvet has just tagged in Mickie James. She’s up top and flying down with a Thesz press, dropping Angelina and Winter like a couple of dead weights. She gets the upper-hand on Winter, goes for the pin but Angelina is back in, breaking it up. However, Velvet is true to her colors and goes on the defense, nailing her former best friend. I’m starting to get dizzy again. There’s so much going on. Two women in opposite corners, Winter and Angelina try sending their opponents crashing into each other but we get a little do-si-do, if you will. This leads to a double whammy on Winterlina and the wicked witches are sent flying backwards for a moment. Yep. Definitely dizzy now.

Velvet gets right back up, going back to Angelina who sends her nails down Velvet’s face. She immediately goes after Mickie, who is trying to go after Winter and then Angelina gets speared by Velvet. Oh for cheese sake! Can we get some order in this mess?! It’s like trying to describe chaos in three words or less. You just can’t. But now that Velvet has taken out Angelina, it leaves the two who will face each other this Sunday. Mickie and Winter, who are back in the corner. Mick goes for the shot but gets slapped back, doing some kind of little dance and then…

BLOOD IN THE EYES!!!

This match just took a turn for the horror movie. Mickie screams like she just witnessed someone being brutally murdered and falls to the mat. I swear, her optometrist must be making a fortune. Winter, the opportunist, immediately goes for the cover and gets the three count. She slides backwards out of the ring, eyes staring a hole through Mickie as Angelina comes back around. They creep back up the ramp, arms raised in victory, blood seeping from the corners of Winter’s mouth. Is it Halloween yet? I’m ready for it.

I think this week was a pretty good prelude. Not a bad showing from the Knockouts this week. I’m glad that Winter hasn’t been pushed to the background after losing. I’m glad she has a rematch this Sunday and doesn’t have to compete in a number one contender’s match for it. It should definitely be interesting to see what she has in store. Anyway, until that time, my lovies. xoxo

Mickie James Comments on Possibility of a WWE Return, Being Inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

55

In a Q&A on her official website, Knockouts Champion Mickie James was asked whether she would consider returning to the WWE in the future, and her thoughts on possibly being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame one day.

Mickie says that she wouldn’t rule out a return to WWE and that she never intended on leaving. She responded:

I can’t say that I never will or would go back to the WWE. I honestly never intended on leaving until I retired. However we don’t choose our destiny. We just live it. I am very happy at TNA and am enjoying my time here for as long as it lasts. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to grow inside and out as a performer, artist, and a woman. One really never knows what tomorrow holds. That’s why you make the most of every moment. Good, bad, or indifferent, and own it like only you can.

On one day being inducted into the Hall of Fame, James says:

To be inducted in to the Hall of Fame is a huge honor for any one person in this industry. It not only gives you credibility as the mark you made n the pages of history to the fans, but notoriety for the path you paved for everyone who followed in your footsteps.

Read more here.

Thoughts: Despite how her WWE run ended, and this probably goes for Melina too, I think there’ll always be a door left open for them to return to the WWE family. It probably won’t be as full time Divas, but perhaps sporadic appearances, promotional work etc. And I could certainly see both ladies in the Hall of Fame in the future.

Naomi on the Road with Raw Again

61

Former NXT Season 3 rookie Naomi is on the road with the Raw brand this weekend in Canada.

Naomi appeared at the Barrie, Ontario live event last night working the ‘guest hostess’ gimmick.

Of the NXT 3 girls, she’s the only one not yet called up. AJ, Aksana and Kaitlyn are all on SmackDown, while Maxine is back on NXT.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean a call-up is imminent as Naomi has traveled with both the Raw and SmackDown brands extensively since her season of NXT ended last year. Hopefully she’ll be debuting soon, though. She’s definitely the brightest Diva prospect athletically.

Aksana Discusses Her Agenda with Teddy Long… Or Rather, She Doesn’t

12

Since making her comeback to WWE a few weeks ago, Aksana has shown off a whole new look and attitude with her jet-black Russian spy-like hair and her new love for sexual innuendo. She seems to be working her way into SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long’s heart, but does she have an agenda?

Well, if she does, she’s not telling. WWE.com tried to interview Aksana, but didn’t get much in the way of responses. Read below:

WWE.COM: Why do you keep surprising SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long? What’s going on with you two?

AKSANA: What are you talking about, what is going on? Nothing is going on. What’s going on, you can see on TV, that’s all.

WWE.COM: He gave you his personal phone number. Have you called him yet?

AKSANA: That is private. This is not business-like. You are very personal.

WWE.COM: We don’t want to get too personal, but the last time the WWE Universe saw you, you were in that disastrous wedding with Goldust. So what do you have in store for Teddy Long?

AKSANA: I don’t look to my past. Everything is in my future. So I don’t even think about Goldust.

WWE.COM: So what do you have planned for yourself with regards to SmackDown?

AKSANA: I will take it step by step and … Well, I don’t like to talk about it. You will see.

Read the full piece here.

Speaking of Aksana, she also now has a WWE.com profile page which you can see here.

Thoughts: 1) There should be a rule that all Aksana interviews are audio interviews, and 2) What is going on?! I haven’t been convinced that this storyline is actually going anywhere, but perhaps it is? More Aksanaisms, please.

PWI Female 50 2011 Revealed

181

This year’s Pro Wrestling Illustrated Female 50 list has finally been revealed!

The magazine is due to go on sale later this month, but LordsofPain.net has obtained a copy.

Earlier this week, it was reported that SHIMMER Champion, Madison Eagles, had claimed the top spot, but now you can see who else scored big.

Speaking on the list, PWI revealed how they chose who to represent them with the main spot: “This year’s list was unlike any other in the four-year history of the Female 50. For one thing, there was no obvious frontrunner in either WWE or TNA. Last year’s number one, Michelle McCool, retired after a few lackluster months. The WWE Divas title dropped in prominence and was held for a significant amount of time by Brie Bella who, while improved, doesn’t exactly conjure thoughts of Sensational Sherri or Trish Stratus.”

“So we made a bold decision. We looked to the indies. Two possible candidates were SHIMMER champion Madison Eagles and WSU champion Mercedes Martinez. It was a difficult choice to make,” the magazine explains. “Fortunately for us, Martinez and Eagles faced off in March for Eagles’ SHIMMER title. Eagles managed to win a terrific match, which proved to be the deciding factor in our decision.”

“While being on WWE’s or TNA’s global platform helps your chances, it doesn’t mean you get a free passage onto the Female 50.”

Check out the list below:

1. Madison Eagles
2. Mercedes Martinez
3. Mickie James
4. Natalya
5. Madison Rayne
6. Cheerleader Melissa

Female Wrestler Faye Palmer Enters Big Brother UK House

19-year-old female wrestler Faye Palmer, sister of former WWE developmental talent Jemma Palmer, has entered the UK Big Brother house.

The series started tonight on Channel 5 in the UK.

Faye wrestles under the ring name Darcy Steele.

Faye’s sister Jemma was linked to a WWE developmental deal in 2009. Jemma grew to fame in the UK through Sky One’s revival of Gladiators, which is the UK version of American Gladiators, in 2008. Jemma was one of the Gladiators on that show going by the name Inferno.

Diva Dirt Promoters Season: Behind the WSU Curtain with Sean McCaffrey – November iPPV, Melina, Steel Cage WarGames, Becky Bayless & More

With several big independent events coming up in the next couple of months, Diva Dirt has reached out to the head honcos in charge of various promotions for our first annual Promoters Season. Over the next couple of weeks, you will hear from the creative minds behind NCW Femmes Fatales, Pro-Wrestling: EVE, SHIMMER Women Athletes and Women Superstars Uncensored.

We aim to pick their brains about their upcoming events, their rosters and on current events. Plus, we look for answers to the questions that fans have wondered about…

In the first Promoters Season interview, we talk to WSU promoter Sean McCaffrey about the upcoming November 19th Internet pay per view, Breaking Barriers 2, which will see the debut of Melina, the return of Becky Bayless (formerly Cookie in TNA) and a major six-woman main event match set inside a steel cage.

Melina coming to WSU has been big news. What has it done for the company’s exposure?
It has helped a great deal. Since announcing Melina, our website hits went up, our Twitter following grew, and our pre-sale for both iPPV and ticket-wise is the highest its ever been. We are still over two months away from the show and Melina has garnered us a huge buzz.

One of the reasons we booked Melina so far out was to have three months of people talking about it, so when 11/19 comes around, everyone is aware that Melina will be here.

A lot of people are discovering WSU through Melina. Obviously she was a huge, popular name on TV. How do you plan to take advantage of that?
We have already started. We have already started releasing videos promoting the match. We also have just announced a new DVD at WSUWrestling.com called “PASSION: The Hardest Working Women in Wrestling” that fans just finding out about WSU can purchase for $5 when they pre-order a ticket or the iPPV. We are hoping to gain new viewers with Melina and based on the pre-sale, our plan seems to be working. While Melina is wrestling Serena on the iPPV, you can bet we will have her interacting with other people on the WSU roster to help other names on the show as well.

Does this new found audience increase pressure at all to deliver on November 19th in order to keep those newer/casual fans coming back?
Not really. Every show we present, we always pressure and stress ourselves out to have the best event possible. Just because a big name is coming in doesn’t mean we change what we do. Of course this is a huge show for us, but for us, every show is a grand event and we always want fans coming back. It’s obvious to anyone that while we are hoping Melina vs Serena brings in new fans initially, we are hoping they stay around after seeing the rest of the roster, especially the people involved in the WarGames match.

After this show, our next iPPV is the 5 Year Anniversary Show in March and the anniversary show is always our most important show of the year. So of course we will be going all out here to make sure that anyone who sees this show will be back with on March 3rd for the 5 Year Anniversary Show.

Melina is considered somewhat controversial. Were you at all wary of working with her?
I don’t know how controversial she is. She speaks her mind. So do I. I don’t call that being controversial. I call that being stand up and not afraid to voice up. I respect that. I’m not worried about working with her at all and I think this is a great deal for both her and WSU.

Many Internet rumors about Melina’s booking fee. What do you say?
The number reported is nothing close to what we are paying, but if we were, I guess it shows we got a lot of money to afford that price!

I don’t like to really discuss booking fees with anyone, but I will say for what we paid, we are already seeing a return in our investment.

Next: What has Melina been like to work with? Will Jillian come back? How will WSU tackle presenting a cage match on iPPV?

WWE Superstars Redux (September 8th, 2011): The Quick and the Defeated

It’s been almost a month since the last time we’ve been treated to a Divas match on WWE Superstars, but we’re back. On deck is a rematch of the last Divas bout to air on Superstars: Alicia Fox vs. Tamina. Alicia’s been racking up quite the winning streak, taking out babyfaces and heels alike on this web show. Will she add yet another victory to her column? Let’s see:

The match begins with a bit of rough handling by Tamina, shoving Alicia by the back of the head and punching and kicking her in the corner. She backs off to charge into her, but Alicia gets her elbow in the way and pulls herself into a split above Tamina, rolling her from the top turnbuckle to the mat into a pin attempt. Tamina kicks out rather quickly and is immediately back on the attack, running into two consecutive armdrags by Alicia. Alicia turns the last into a submission, wrenching Tamina’s arm backwards. Tamina eventually battles out, but Alicia maintains control, setting her up for a neckbreaker. However, before she can hit it, Tamina grabs two handfuls of hair to keep her on her feet, then pulls her over her head by said hair. Ouch. Her scalp likely screaming, Alicia gets back to her feet, only to receive Tamina’s boot full in the face. Hey, at least it distracts her from her scalp pains.

Tamina goes for a pin, but Alicia kicks out at 2. Frustrated, Tamina keeps the punishment going. She pummels Alicia her in the corner, irish whipping her away and back into said corner, and continuing to pummel. Tamina eventually drags Alicia to the center of the ring (but not without a desperate grab at the ropes by Alicia) and goes for another pin. Alicia kicks out again at the 2-count.

Tamina immediately hoists Alicia onto her shoulder, holding her there like a doll and punishing her back. She stomps on the mat a few times for emphasis before letting Alicia down, delivering a suckerpunch to the chin as a punctuation mark to the attack. However, Alicia battles back, hitting Tamina with a quick kick to the stomach to stop her in her tracks. Her next attack is just as quick, wrenching Tamina arm as fast as lightning before regaining a decent distance between them. She seems to decide on a strategy, using her speed advantage to duck away from an attack from Tamina and quickly hitting her with a succession of dropkicks and kicks. She tries to whip Tamina into the corner but it’s reversed. Before she hits the corner, though, Alicia leaps onto the ropes, ceasing her momentum before sending it in the other direction, leaping backwards just in time to land an elbow in Tamina’s face.

Alicia goes for a hasty pin, but Tamina kicks out. She pulls Tamina to her feet but her hesitation costs her, as Tamina gains control and knocks her loopy with a headbutt. Tamina keeps the leisurely pace, hitting a legdrop before setting her up for a splash. This slowness costs her, though, because be the time she gets in the air Alicia is rolling out of the way, leaving her with nothing but mat. She stumbles to her feet, setting herself up perfectly for Alicia’s scissors kick. Alicia hits it, and it’s good enough to earn her the pin and the win.

Yet another win for Alicia! This was a rather short and simple match, but it played off the two Divas’ strengths quite well: Tamina’s brute force and Alicia’s quickness. When Alicia was in control, the match’s pace was quick, with fast attacks that allowed her to hit a move and keep a safe distance from Tamina. When Tamina was in control, the pace screeched to a halt, allowing her to methodically punish Alicia. In the end, the quickness won out and Alicia notched another mark in her ‘W’ column. I wonder if this streak will amount to anything–I’d love to see her eventually confront the champion and demand a title match, citing her numerous wins on Superstars and providing YouTube links to corroborate her claims. All jokes aside, it is an impressive streak she’s built up, and even if this show isn’t televised, all of these wins should amount to something.

Female Wrestler to be Big Brother UK Housemate

30

A 19-year-old female wrestler from Britain will be one of the 14 housemates to appear on this year’s UK version of Big Brother.

Though the housemates identities will not be revealed until tomorrow night when they enter the Big Brother house during a live broadcast, the series’ producer has given some teasers about the housemates.

Digital Spy reports the producer as revealing: “Female, 19, from Tamworth. A keen wrestler, she says she goes to the gym twice a day and eats six or seven times a day, and spends all her money on food and protein.”

Big Brother starts on Friday night at 9pm on Channel 5.

Thoughts: This is just me speculating, but I think the girl may be Faye Palmer, the younger sister of Jemma Palmer who was linked to a WWE developmental deal and was on the UK version of American Gladiators as Inferno a few years ago. Jemma and Faye are from Tamworth.

There were rumors of Jemma’s sister appearing on Big Brother last year.

Madison Eagles Lands No. 1 Spot on PWI Female 50

66

SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles has taken the #1 spot on this year’s Pro Wrestling Illustrated Female 50.

Eagles beats out competition from WWE and TNA stars as well as independent stars to claim the #1 spot this year.

Last year’s top ranked female was Michelle McCool.

Madison is also the first independent name to claim the top spot. Since inception in 2008, the list has predominantly been ruled by WWE and TNA talent in the #1 spot. In 2008, Awesome Kong (Kharma) ruled the roost while part of TNA. In 2009, Mickie James — then a WWE Diva — was #1.

The official PWI website has a preview article for the next issue, which will feature the full top 50 list.

Read an excerpt below:

[notice]Madison Eagles is not a household name.

She’s not a Diva. She’s not a Knockout. To a large portion of wrestling fans, she is completely unknown.

But that’s about to change.

The 6’1″ Australian has been selected by the editors of PRO WRESTLING ILLUSTRATED as the top female wrestler in the sport, and she heads the 2011 “PWI Female 50.”

The reigning SHIMMER champion has had a tremendous year, successfully defending her title against the cream of the crop of the independent circuit, including Mercedes Martinez, MsChif, Cheerleader Melissa, and Ayako Hamada. She has competed in Japan, Canada, and her native Australia (where she also holds the PWA Australia Women’s title) and has dominated competition worldwide.

She may not be world famous, but she has enjoyed worldwide success. And our editors took notice.

“I am honestly very surprised and honored,” Eagles said when she was informed she had landed the top spot. “There are so many great wrestlers, and being recognized at the top of this list is an epic moment for me.”[/notice]

Congratulations, Eagles!

What do you think about Madison taking the #1 spot?

Stacy Keibler/George Clooney Update

9

Former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler recently hit the Hollywood jackpot when tabloids everywhere reported that she was dating A-list actor George Clooney.

Despite reports that the pair had split up, People magazine now reports that they are still very much together.

They report: “Both stars are expected to be in L.A., before Clooney jets to the Toronto Film Festival later this week.”

Meanwhile, Keibler didn’t directly respond to questions about her romance at an event in LA last week, but did tell People: “Anybody that knows me knows that I’m definitely a guy’s girl. I just can really adapt to any kind of environment. So I can get all dressed up and have a great girls’ night out, and then can also be playing beer pong with the boys.”

NXT Watch (September 6th, 2011): We Can’t Let Them Come Between Us

19

Welcome to another fun-filled week of NXT action. We had some pretty interesting advances made to the ongoing love saga that pits couple against couple, as this week we saw Derrick Bateman & his seductive soulmate, Maxine, team up in mixed tag team action, battling the team of AJ, and her boyfriend’s rookie, Titus O’Neil. Without any further ado…let’s get started!

As we head back from a commercial promoting another sure fire blockbuster film of Triple H’s, the commentary team plugs the article that started World War III over the weekend, and informs us that we can now read responses from the culprits involved. From there, we head to the arena, as AJ (yellow plaid included) and Titus make their way to the ring, Hornswoggle following closely behind. The trio enter the ring and pose for the fans.

After a recap of the match AJ & Maxine had two weeks prior, both the sneaky she-devil and her curly haired temptation strut down the entrance ramp together. Once the duo make their way inside, the bell sounds and this match is underway. The male counterparts get things underway with a lock up, as Derrick strikes O’Neil from behind. Bateman cowers in the corner to get Titus off of him, as Maxine applauds in support.

The males lock up again, as Titus takes control with a big bodyslam. An elbow drop follows, with a kick up next, as he then sends Derrick flying into the corner. O’Neil simply beats on Derrick, before tossing him to the other turnbuckle and…

…taking DB down with a huge powerslam, garnering not even a one count. Derrick charges over to his corner and makes the tag out to Maxine, as the ladies now enter the mix to a pop! Maxine goes for a strike, but AJ blocks it and begins punching her until she falls back into the ropes. She Irish Whips Maxine into the ropes, but Maxine stops herself on the way back and kicks AJ in the face. She runs off the ropes again, only AJ manages to connect with a sick roundhouse kick.

A running elbow sends Maxine down, but as AJ goes to pick her back up, Maxine counters with a jawbreaker. Maxine goes for a bodyslam attempt, but AJ escapes out the back and kicks Maxine in the back of the leg. She falls to her knees, allowing AJ to run off the ropes with a dropkick to the face for a near fall. She tries to send Maxine into the corner, but Maxine reverses it and AJ finds herself there instead. Maxine charges forward, but she is met with a few boots to the chest. AJ ascends to the second rope and goes to leap off with a Thesz Press, but Maxine manages to lift her boot up and kick her square in the stomach to send her down.

Maxine drags AJ into the center of the ring and gets a two count, seeming to infuriate her. She applies a chin lock to a downed AJ, adding a knee to the back for extra pain. The crowd wills AJ on to a vertical base, but as she runs off the ropes, Maxine hits an atomic drop and throws AJ down by the hair for another close call. She snapmares AJ over and plants another knee to the back. The two then get up and fall towards the ropes, as Maxine goes for a kick…only AJ moves out of the way and she trips herself up and falls backwards.

The two Divas now crawl towards their respected corner for a tag, as Maxine is the first to do so. This peps AJ up enough to tag in Titus O’Neil as well, and he cleans house with a variety of takedowns on Bateman. Titus picks Bateman up and hits a sick shoulderbreaker for a two count, but Maxine breaks the pin up. AJ then runs in and takes her down with a clothesline, as Derrick proceeds to roll Titus up from behind. Titus escapes though, and drills Bateman with a lifting sitout spinebuster for the victory!

Maxine and Derrick are seen walking backstage, not pleased with how things went down. Maxine says that Derrick should have listened to her, but his blood is boiling and he begins blaming her. The two continue to argue, as Bateman proclaims they should have watched Roadhouse last night instead of Dirty Dancing so that he would have been more prepared to fight. This sparks Maxine to scream that Bateman should have been preparing instead of perming his hair this morning!

He proclaims that it is au natural, but Maxine says that the natural thing around here is her! She sees what is happening after this comment, and tries to calm the situation down by saying that they are letting Hornswoggle get to them. She derives a plan to separate Hornswoggle and AJ since they don’t stand a chance together. Derrick then proclaims that scheming against leprechauns makes Maxine look hot, as the two then make out hardcore backstage.

Thoughts: Haha, I continue to love NXT. The mixed tag match was pretty much what could be expected. I figured AJ & Titus would take the win to even the score after Maxine won the singles bout, but I enjoyed it overall because it wasn’t limited to 2 minutes. I thought all four worked well together and overall produced a pretty fun match. The backstage segment is where I loved tonight’s episode. I went in spoiler free so I wasn’t expecting to see anything more, but from the perm, to the roadhouse, to the au natural, all the way to the make out session at the end, it was insanely entertaining.

I’m glad they found new way to keep this story going by having Maxine and Derrick now plot to separate Hornswoggle and AJ, because I was worried this was going to be Katie Lea/Paul Burchill vs. Alicia Fox/DJ Gabriel all over again, in the sense that we get a singles match with both genders, a mixed tag, and then that’s it. I, personally, can not wait to see where else this goes.
