TNA Against All Odds 2011: Madison Rayne is Last Knockout Standing

33

It seemed like tonight would be the night for Mickie James, but nope! Madison Rayne is still Knockouts Champion.

Mickie seemingly had Madison’s number tonight after ripping her loaded glove off of her hand and wearing it herself. What she didn’t count on was that Rayne had a pair of brass knuckles tucked away in her ring attire. An interference from Tara set the stage for the closing moments, allowing Rayne to clock Mickie and have her counted out to become the last Knockout standing.

The shock finish followed a highly energetic match that saw the two Knockouts brawl all around ringside and take hard bumps. Though April will have more in her review tomorrow, personally I felt this was a strong match between the two.

Are you happy to see the feud continue? Did you think the belt should’ve changed hands tonight? Sound off in the comments.

TNA Against All Odds 2011 Discussion

The TNA Knockouts Championship is on the line tonight in a Last Knockout Standing match. Will Mickie James end Madison Rayne‘s title reign?

In Pictures: Lilian Garcia at the Grammys

6

Former WWE Diva, Lilian Garcia hit up the Grammy awards red carpet tonight.

Lilian, who released her debut album iQuiero Vivir! in 2007, is currently recording her second album due for release later this year.

Garcia noted on Twitter that her dress was designed by Nurielle. Are you feeling it?

PPV Predictions: TNA Against All Odds 2011

Who’ll be the Last Knockout Standing tonight? The Diva Dirt team weigh in…

April: Given the considerable amount of loaded glove usage in recent weeks, I’m going to have to say Mickie. I’ve stood behind my opinion that TNA needs a new Knockouts Champion. It isn’t that Madison doesn’t deserve it, she’s great at what she does but she’s stale. Her title defenses are few and far between. I’m pretty sure her reign has focused more on her partnership with Tara than Madison as the actual champion. I’d like to see Mickie take it and perhaps feud with Sarita over the gold. Their chemistry in the ring impresses me and I think Sarita has it coming. She’s done a lot in TNA and she grows on me more and more each week. So it is time to switch things up and give us a new champion.

Cryssi: It seems like I say this every time Mickie gets a championship shot. She’s going to win the belt. This time, it’s actually going to come true despite the fact I think it shouldn’t. Mickie’s been trying to win the Knockouts Championship since she arrived in TNA and finally in this Last Knockout Standing match she is going to achieve what’s probably been her goal since day one. I expect herself and Madison to tear each other shreds and after some botched interference from Tara, Mickie is gonna land the knockout (no pun intended, haha) blow. Madison will be down for the ten count and the Hardcore Country Queen, Mickie, will begin her reign as the Queen of TNA.

In Video: Shaul Guerrero Wrestles at FCW Live Event

As well as the fan report and pictures posted earlier, there’s now good quality footage of Shaul Guerrero wrestling last night at an FCW live event in Punta Gorda, FL.

This was Shaul’s second live pro:

Fan Report & Pictures from FCW Live Event in Punta Gorda, FL (February 12th)

Long-time reader Bobby Lea Burchill sent in the following report and pictures from an FCW live event last night:

I attended the FCW Live Event on February 12th with Vickie Guerrero as the special meet and greet guest. I’ll try to go in order and remember everything I can so bear with me lol. After we go inside, the line for Vickie was already huge as I had stopped to meet some of the FCW stars before she came out. Then out of nowhere everyone starts clapping and out she walks! Vickie looks insanely skinny in person, which was a topic of conversation from a lot of the fans. She’s really lost a lot of weight and looks great. As the line started moving, I could start to hear some things Vickie was saying, which interested me. She said how she almost didn’t make it out to the show due to a SmackDown live event but how she loves to give back to the fans because they are what has kept her in WWE as long as she’s been there. She even added how thankful she is for each of the storylines she’s been in.

FCW Watch: Kaitlyn and Naomi vs AJ and Rosa

On the most recent episode of FCW Wrestling, the NXT 3 top three, plus Rosa Mendes, took the stage in a tag team matchup. Watch below as the FCW Divas Champion, AJ, teams up with the Queen of FCW, Rosa, to face off against Naomi and Kaitlyn:

Thoughts: Honestly, I wasn’t really feeling this match. It started off well between Naomi and Rosa, but it really broke down and got sloppy when AJ and Kaitlyn got involved. I have seen much better from all the ladies involved. One good thing I will say is that Rosa’s time in FCW seems to be paying off. She seems to be progressing in the ring, which is a good thing considering some of the matches she’s had in the past. What did you guys think of the match? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Shaul Guerrero Competes in First Match, Vickie Comments

FCW’s Raquel Diaz aka Shaul Guerrero, the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer, Eddie and current WWE personality, Vickie, had her first match on Friday night for the Florida-based promotion.

Shaul teamed with Naomi against the team of AJ and Aksana in a losing effort, but there was plenty to celebrate.

Shaul’s mother, Vickie, was on hand for the show and wrote on Twitter afterwards: “Last night while watching my daughter wrestle..I saw Eddie”s walk and his eyes shine thru my daughter…I’m blessed.”

Meanwhile, Ricardo Rodriguez, who also serves as Alberto Del Rio’s ring announcer, wrote: “Eddie Guerrero’s daughter, Shaul, had her first match last night in Gainsville, Florida… She did a helluva job! Bright future.”

On her own Twitter page, seemingly catching the bug after her first match, Shaul wrote that she could see herself wrestling for the rest of her life.

Thoughts: Obviously there are high expectations for Shaul given her superstar parents. I hope she succeeds!

In Review: “Timeline: The History of WWE – 2001” Starring Lisa ‘Ivory’ Moretti

22

Former WWE Women’s Champion, Ivory (real name Lisa Moretti) re-emerged last year, starring in a shoot interview that received a good review here at Diva Dirt. Now she’s back, teaming up with our friends at Kayfabe Commentaries for a new DVD looking back at the year in WWE in 2001. The ‘Timeline: The History of WWE’ series adds a unique spin to the regular shoot interview, as it allows for more focused discussion and gives fans an insight into how things were backstage during the year and how things played out on television.

The first thing that comes to mind is that, despite being 50 years old, Lisa looks radiant! And if you’ve seen her previous shoot interview, you’ll know she has a personality to boot. Playful, humorous and highly engaging, Lisa comes across as the ‘cool aunt’ we wish we could all have.

Like with their YouShoot series, Kayfabe niftily breaks things down for the viewer with a month-by-month look at the year that was 2001. There are often a few screens per month, highlighting the major events of 2001 that year and they simply let Lisa rip. Her comments may be on the events that were highlighted, her personal opinion on the people involved, or at times, she can even go off into discussing things that occurred in other years. And hey, who’s going to stop her?

Kelly Kelly Speaks on Being in Main Event Match, Wants the Divas Championship

109

Despite being ‘fired’, WWE still had Kelly Kelly make a public appearance this past week at the WrestleMania 28 press conference in Miami.

At the event, Kelly spoke to the Miami Herald on her star turn on SmackDown last week, when she main evented the show and helped Edge retain the World Heavyweight Championship. On that pivotal moment she said:

SmackDown Redux (February 11th, 2011): Eve Continues To Roll While Another Diva Should Watch Her Hands

A not so appropriate title for this week’s SmackDown Redux would be “The Hangover Edition” but that’s incredibly unfair to the newly crowned Diva’s Champion, Eve, and her opponent on this week’s episode of the A-List show, Layla. However, after last week’s epic episode, I truly felt like this week was nothing more than a buzz kill. The match itself was okay, and so was the backstage segment that featured Michelle McCool and Vickie Guerrero (…and Dolph Ziggler). But unfortunately it just failed to live up to the high expectations that last week set.

Of course, I’m getting ahead of myself. This is not the time to talk about my personal opinion. This is merely the introduction so let me get all generic on you people and say…

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO HEREEEEEEE’S SMACKDOWN!

Tonight’s Diva portion of the show kicked off with a segment. Lay-Cool are walking backstage with Layla dressed to wrestle. They’re chatting about the Royal Rumble and Michelle calls Eve a snake. They agree that she didn’t deserve to be in that match at the Rumble and Michelle says that it’s all because it was Lay-Cool’s rematch. They can’t decide how Eve got into the match and Michelle seems a little annoyed that no one ever seems to help them out like that. They agree that Eve’s victory was nothing more than a fluke and Michelle makes the statement that had the referee been doing his job correctly that she would be the new Diva’s Champion. Layla stops them and goes “don’t you mean we?” Michelle just looks at her and goes “yay, whatever Lay.” This insults Layla and rightfully so, but before she can reply, the door to Vickie’s office swings open and out walks the woman herself.

Impact Write-Up (February 11th, 2011): Rosita is Muy Caliente in TNA Debut

Last night’s Impact saw the debut of a new Knockout, Rosita, who was introduced as the ‘cousin’ of Sarita. How would the newcomer measure up in her debut night? And how would TNA give Mickie and Madison’s big title match this Sunday one last push? Let’s find out…

Earlier in the evening, we catch Angelina Love‘s cohorts, Velvet Sky and Winter arguing backstage before she proceeds to shut it down and try to get them on the same page. Obviously, that’s not going to work. Anyone who’s been torn between a friend and a lover who don’t like each other can probably attest to that. Which begs the question – who is the ‘friend’ and who is the ‘lover’ in this scenario? Winter or Velvet? You decide.

Anyhoo, it’s match time and we are ready to meet our new Knockout! Regardez:

Sarita is out first and her cousin Rosita is not far behind. The duo salsa down the ramp before doing a little skit in the ring. Next out is the team of Tara & Madison Rayne. On the babyface side, the BPs and Winter come out which leads to a funny yet awkward situation as Winter, like Velvet, tries to crawl through Angelina’s legs for her entrance. Angie acts violated while Winter looks rather pleased with herself. Next out is Hardcore Country herself, Mickie James. By my count, that’s eight Knockouts — okay, we’re ready to go!

Raw Redux Does WWE Superstars (February 10th, 2011): Natalya’s on the Right Track, Baby…

As this week’s edition of WWE Superstars kicks off, we are treated with an opening bout that pits former Divas Champions Natalya and Alicia Fox against each other. Watch below:

First out, is the Queen of Harts herself, Natalya heading down to the ring sporting her signature pink and black attire. The girl really seems like she can work any shade of pink so kudos to her. She plays up the crowd really well as a babyface, awaiting her opponent’s arrival.

And speaking of her opponent, out next is Alicia Fox strutting out fiercely down the entrance ramp, sporting her own signature Tina Turner-esque pom pom skirt and near matching tiger print top. Of course, the Rihanna weave deserves honorable mention as well. It takes bold women in this world to pull off and actually rock that particular color and style. I can wholeheartedly say that Foxy does.

In Video: Eve Torres Speech at WrestleMania 28 Press Conference

25

Check out footage of Eve Torres addressing the press at the WrestleMania 28 press conference earlier this week below. Torres represented the Divas division by speaking to the crowd, noting that they look forward to hitting the beaches of Miami next year.

Watch below:

Thoughts: Many people question why WWE pushes Eve and put the belt on her, but as you should know by now, WWE isn’t just looking for the best wrestler in its champions. Champions represent the company to the public, and that is what Eve did here and she did a great job. Though we’re not used to seeing her cut promos on television, Eve obviously has a knack for public speaking because she looked comfortable, friendly, articulate and engaging in this address. That is likely one of the reasons why WWE puts their faith in her because she represents the company very well, as seen here.

16

New Divas Champion, Eve Torres spoke to the Miami Herald this past week when she was in town for the WrestleMania 28 press conference.

Unwrapped: Kaitlyn’s No Photoshoot Rookie

29

View Kaitlyn’s photoshoot by clicking here.

Our Unwrapped feature is making its return! Every Thursday, coinciding with WWE.com’s weekly photoshoot updates, we’ll take a look at the newest Diva photoshoot and give you the opportunity to voice your opinions on it. Let’s unwrap this week’s eye candy..

NXT Season 3 winner Kaitlyn is finally emerging in the “big time” SmackDown, so it’s fitting that this week she’s premiered her first official photoshoot as a Diva. It may look familiar to you (actually it should look familiar), since photos from the studio portion of the shoot were released at the beginning of her NXT run. However, there’s still enough new stuff to unwrap..

The Look: Okay, so this outfit is nothing new–it dates back to the NXT rookies’ first photoshoots, so your reaction’s down to whether you liked it or not way back then. In terms of wrestling gear, I like it–it’s tough, with its black leather top and boots, but it’s cut the right way to fulfill the sexiness quota it seems like every Diva’s gear has to reach. Not to mention, it highlights her two most flattering features: her sculpted arms and legs. This gives Kaitlyn her own signature look, with the top and shorts being the base of it. I like this shoot’s version a lot more than some of her other variations of the look–I wasn’t a fan of the denim and cheetah print one. The black and dark camouflage print looks a lot sleeker, and I have to say the camo shorts are a lot more flattering than those skin-tight, ovary-crushing denim shorts.

The Poses: Kaitlyn exudes a calm, confident manner throughout the entire shoot, her poses relaxed. I like it, as it feels real and not as put-on as the more smiley, happy poses other Divas may utilize. Her poses next to the steel beam are particularly interesting. While these poses aren’t all that different from the ones from her other shoots, you have to consider that they were all probably taken around the same time, when she wasn’t exactly in the flow of WWE photoshoots yet. Even so, I really like the feel of this photoshoot.

In Pictures: Alicia and Eve Take Miami at WrestleMania 28 Press Conference

23

Move over Kourtney and Khloe! Alicia Fox and Divas Champ, Eve Torres stormed Miami yesterday for the WWE WrestleMania 28 press conference.

As reported yesterday, next year’s event will be held in Miami and the Divas were on hand for the official announcement along with Vince McMahon, John Cena and others.

Both Divas looked drop dead gorgeous, as Alicia donned a show-stopping cream-colored bandage dress. Meanwhile, the champion complemented her belt with a sexy, deep purple number. A+ to both!

Mr. Glamazon’s Hitting the Ropes (Issue #23) – I Can Handle the Truth

7

If you listen to Diva Dirt LIVE, you know that I get fired almost every week.  I really do try my best but inevitably I screw something up – either by calling someone the wrong name, or messing up the switchboard, or making some lame joke that not even my co-hosts will sell.  Whatever the reason I always find myself on shaky ground, which stinks because I really do love hosting the show.  Interacting with the callers and special guests is a lot of fun and if I can learn something about the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” along the way, all the better!  Fortunately for me Melanie usually has a change of heart during the week and lets me keep my job, so basically I’m working on a series of 1-week contracts (although what Melanie doesn’t know is that I’m kind of like a stray cat…feed me once and I’m hard to get rid of.)  So I never know how long this gig will last, but Diva Dirt LIVE has been on the air since June 2010 and I’m extremely proud of that.

Now, if there ever WAS a reason for Melanie to fire me it was during this past Royal Rumble in Boston (and no, I’m not talking about the plaid shirt I wore.)  I admit, I dropped the ball…big time.  See the WWE sold t-shirts at the event that advertised the Divas Championship as a fatal 4-way match, which is fine except no one was supposed to know that before the “anonymous general manager” changed the match at the last minute.  As Natalya was all set to defend her Divas title vs. Lay-Cool in a handicap match, Michael Cole received an email essentially adding a fourth competitor.

Of course I would have already known that had I just read the back of my son’s t-shirt.  UGH!

Manami Toyota Returning to CHIKARA in April

2

The legendary Manami Toyota will return to CHIKARA in April, it has been revealed.

Toyota, who made her US debut for CHIKARA last year, will be part of the annual King of Trios tournament in Philadelphia from April 15-17th.

More information and tickets can be found here.

Thoughts: Toyota’s debut last year in New York drew a huge crowd, enough so that CHIKARA actually had to turn people away at the door. Definitely proof that women can draw. Great move by the company to bring her back.

Fan Report & Pictures from TNA House Show in Pensacola, FL (February 5th)

10

Diva Dirt reader Billy James sent in his live report and pictures from TNA’s house show in Pensacola, FL this past Saturday. The event saw a rare house show appearance from Sarita facing Angelina Love.

Before the show started, I was to get both Angelina and Sarita’s autographs. Both ladies were very nice especially Sarita as I had the chance to briefly talk to my second favorite Knockout. I told her that loved her matches with Mickie James as they have great chemistry together and I hope that she feuds with Mickie over the Knockouts Title. Sarita that she hopes so too as she wants a run with the belt. I also had the chance to tell her about the nickname that I and some of my wrestling friends have for her, “The Salsa Mama” which she liked. Angelina got the win over Sarita with Botox Injection. I had an eraser board with me on which I wrote: “Sarita: The Salsa Mama” when Sarita came out for the match. Let me say that Sarita is just as good live as she is on TV. I found out after the show that it’s rare for Sarita to do TNA house shows due to her obligations with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in Mexico.

WrestleMania 28 Coming to Miami

14

Next year’s WrestleMania, the 28th edition, will air live from Miami, FL on April 1st, 2012.

Divas Champion, Eve Torres was on hand for a press conference today in Miami.

The news is notable because it had previously been reported that Toronto was being considered as a possible location, leading to rumor that Trish Stratus may be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year as it’s her hometown. Obviously, today’s announcement would quash that. It could happen, but seems unlikely.
