AAA Women’s Champion, Sexy Star has reportedly been in contact with WWE about joining the company. Star is a lucha libre wrestler known for wearing a mask, very unlike WWE’s current crop of Divas. She would definitely be a diverse signing. For more information on Sexy Star, visit her Wikipedia page. Thanks to everyone who … Read more

Impact Write-Up (July 15th, 2010): Vintage Knockouts!

A lot of fans, myself included, were absolutely horrified at the hot mess that was the Victory Road pay-per-view. The Knockouts match had one shit-tastic ending and I don’t know about you, but I made the decision then and there to write TNA off. It’s hard enough to watch it these days anyway, but when you end a title match in such a ridiculous fashion, it’s enough to turn a fan off for good. Fortunately, my Diva Dirt duties require me to watch the KO action every Thursday and wow! I’m super glad I had to do just that this week. In addition to a pretty good match, we got a massive segment featuring the new champ, the Beautiful People, and that not so mysterious mystery biker chick. I know it’s probably hard for all of y’all to fathom that Impact was actually a good watch, but believe me it is. I even double checked it myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. The proof lies within the confines of this Write-Up so stop wasting your time reading this pointless introduction and watch the videos!

skip ahead to 5:40

The Knockouts waste no time getting down to business tonight. Sarita and Taylor Wilde are shown backstage, and according to Taz, the ladies are scheduled to meet in a street fight later on tonight. It seems like both girls have decided to start the match early, because Sarita slams Taylor into one of the backstage walls. The fight is on and Sarita is basically dominating it. She’s screaming at Taylor that she’s finally getting rid of the dead weight, and that now, everything is going to be about her. Taylor takes several stiff shots, but she fights back hard. She gets Sarita down and begins to punch and choke her. Sarita is back up soon enough and the fight spills into another part of the backstage area. Sarita throws Taylor into several walls, and eventually Taylor is able to muscle Sarita off of her. The ex-Knockouts Champ throws Sarita into a door and takes off. She’s seemingly searching for some type of weapon, but comes away empty-handed. That brings Taylor back to a waiting Sarita. The sexy brunette takes her turn bouncing off the wall, and then gets knocked into a piece of equipment. While Sarita is doubled over, Taylor starts to beat on her. Sarita is able to gain the advantage back and she starts telling Taylor that she has always been better than her, and that everyone knows it. Taylor is thrown into a piece of backstage furniture, and then kicked down to the ground.

Taylor bounces back up and grabs a steel pipe, which she swings wildly. Sarita, thankfully, ducks and the pipe slams into the wall above Sarita’s head. Sarita gets up and kicks Taylor away, but the blonde grabs a chair and starts to smack her former tag team partner with it. Sarita is momentarily stopped by this, but it doesn’t last long. She overpowers Taylor and throws her into the photo shoot area. Taylor has her head slammed into the ground and Sarita gets down with her. She finally locks Taylor into a submission move and starts bitching at her some more.

So of course Impact goes to commercial break.

Exclusive: Wrestling’s Newest Siren Reby Sky Speaks on MTV2?s Lucha Libre USA

Allow us to officially introduce you to wrestling’s newest siren: Reby Sky. This 23-year-old bombshell is best known for her work as a model — credits include Playboy — but she’s also a huge sports fan, particularly pro wrestling. Reby has already dabbled in the industry, co-hosting Sirius XM’s Busted Open every Wednesday, but tomorrow night she begins a new journey as backstage interviewer and commentator for MTV2’s Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors.

With the premiere of the new series just 24 hours away, we caught up with Reby — who, quite wisely, is a fan of Diva Dirt *cough* — to get all the scoop on her exciting new role! Read all about it below…

How did you get involved in Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors?
I was covering an indy wrestling convention in New York and got the chance to interview Marco Corleone (Mark Jindrak of WCW, WWE). In the interview he told me about his experience wrestling in Mexico and gave me the scoop on his newest project: a lucha libre show for MTV2. A few weeks later, I got an email from a producer over at MTV asking me to fly in for an on-camera tryout, saying Marco had recommended me for the show. Needless to say, I was shocked! I actually cancelled an already booked trip to Paris for the tryout and thank goodness I did, because I’m so excited to be on board for this show!

What is your role on the show?
I’m a backstage interviewer and color commentator for the matches.

In your own words, as a fellow wrestling fan, what can we look forward to with this show?
Definitely a different pace of action. It’s nice to see more than just a little tease of the high-flying lucha libre style for a change. The guys genuinely have a passion for the business and that comes through in their matches. I follow a lot of wrestling and have never seen some of the things these guys can do. With rudos, technicos, chicastars, minis and everything in between (exoticos!), there’s something for everyone to enjoy and plenty of surprises to keep you glued to your TV.

Mr. Glamazon’s Hitting the Ropes – Issue #12

I don’t get out much anymore.  Balancing a job, a mortgage, a wife, and 2 kids doesn’t leave a lot of time for other interests.  We try to see friends and family as much as possible but it’s difficult to get everybody’s schedules to match up.  I try to do a little acting here and there, just to keep the creative juices flowing.  I contribute to Diva Dirt for the same reasons.  It’s all good and I’m certainly not complaining, but life is sure different than when my wife and I met in college.  Back then our most important decision was “Bud or Bud Light?”  Now we worry about things like parent-teacher conferences and soccer practice (By the way I’m officially a soccer mom now…who needs orange wedges?  Off to McDonald’s!)  It’s not like we were the Rolling Stones once upon a time, but my wife and I used to love hitting the DC clubs and staying out a little too late.  We used to have 2 or 3 house parties each year that wouldn’t wrap up until the sun was shining.  Good times.  Now a wild night for us is staying awake until they announce American Idol results.  So when my friend Patrick invited us to his summer party a few weeks ago, we reacted like lions at Morton’s Steakhouse.  “We’re going….OUT?”

If only it were that simple.  Should we both go?  Should I go?  Should she go?  Are kids invited?  Do we bring the kids even if they are?  Do we drive?  Should we get a taxi service?  Should we spend the night?  All things to consider.  It’s not that we never go out just the two of us, but it better be for a damn good reason.  Once you start getting babysitters involved the complexity of the evening triples, as does the cost.  So normally we’ll all go somewhere, or one of us goes out while the other stays home and keeps the family train on track.  The question though is “Which one of us gets to go?”  I know, romantic right?  (I’m happy to say the honeymoon is never over around here.)  Here’s where we bring in our legal teams.

Attorney 1:  “Well, David, your wife feels she should go because you went out 3 weeks ago for 45 minutes.”
Attorney 2:  “Objection!  That was to pick up flowers for his mother-in-law!”
Judge:  “Overruled!”
Me:  “Crap.”

Raw Redux (July 12, 2010): Catfights, Insults and Second Chances

Raw’s sly Diva, Alicia Fox picked a picked up a win that can only be called controversial last week when she defended her title against Eve Torres. Obviously, Eve has unfinished business with the champ, as she finds her way to commentary for Alicia’s non-title match with Gail Kim this week. Check out the match below:

We start with Eve already at ringside, posing and waving to the fans (One of her favorite pastimes, along with salsa dancing.) She joined Lawler and Cole on commentary as the Divas Champion makes her to the ring.

Alicia is clad in a brand new piñata skirt, this time in red and I must say, it’s an improvement over her last two even if it still looks like she raided a Party City store to make it. While Alicia struts her stuff in the ring and taunts Eve, they show a replay of last week’s match and how Alicia picked up the win.

Out next is her opponent, Gail Kim, who is looking phenomenal tonight. Gail does the usual babyface posing for the crowd before stepping in the ring to face the champ. The referee rings the bell and the match is underway.
