Rumored Divas Match For Night of Champions (To The Shock Of No One)

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Kelly Kelly is expected to defend her Divas Championship against Beth Phoenix in a SummerSlam rematch at Night of Champions next month.

F4WOnline.com reports that match has been on the cards since a month ago, and given that Kelly won their initial meeting and the feud has continued since SummerSlam, it’s the most obvious choice.

RELATED: WWE SummerSlam in Review: Kelly Kelly Delivers a Summer Shocker!

The real question is, with the pay per view on September 18th, how will WWE keep this storyline going? It’s kind of stalled in the last couple of weeks save for some ‘clap taunting’.

Thoughts: The SummerSlam match didn’t disappoint and I’m looking forward to the rematch. Night of Champions is in Beth’s hometown of Buffalo, NY, so the stage really is set for her to have an epic homecoming. My guess is Beth will take the title at that event.

Maryse Recovering from Surgery

As reported earlier this week, former Divas Champion Maryse underwent surgery for an abdominal hernia which has kept her out of the ring for the past month or so.

Maryse’s surgery was successful and she’s now recovering. She wrote via her Facebook page:

I am home now, and feeling good, still very tired from the anesthesia, but its normal, i will be posting pics of my tummy when they remove the bandages, my doctor did an amazing job and the scar should be very small in my belly button! be sexy

Best wishes to Maryse as she recovers!

Vickie Guerrero Says Dolph Ziggler Pushed Her on Raw

32

WWE is continuing the Vickie Guerrero/Dolph Ziggler/Jack Swagger storyline via its website with Vickie claiming that Dolph pushed her on Monday Night Raw this past week in a fit of jealousy over her managing Swagger.

Vickie tells WWE.com: “I was pushed by Dolph Ziggler. Everyone knows that Dolph is jealous because I introduced Jack Swagger as my potential new client. I have to explore my options.”

Meanwhile Dolph argues that she simply fell to the ground herself: “Apparently, Vickie got a little overzealous, forgetting where the golden egg was. She bumped into me and fell down on her own, of course. She took a little spill. Everything should be fine.”

Goldust Says He’s Proud of the Divas

26

WWE Superstar Goldust, who has been working as producer for the Divas matches of late, has stated he is proud of the Divas via Twitter.

He wrote: “Want all the wwe divas to know that i am proud of all of you. Y’all r kickin some good storylines.”

In the past month or so, the Divas roster has seen some major shifts with Beth Phoenix and Natalya turning heel and forming a team, marking the start of a new storyline in which they are against ‘model Divas’.

Thoughts: I would say the matches we’ve seen of late have been pretty good too, including the Beth vs Kelly match at SummerSlam and last week’s tag team match on SmackDown.

Indy Spotlight: Shazza McKenzie

3

Yet another name has been announced for the huge PWWA show taking place on September 3rd at the Liverpool Masonic Center in Sydney, and it is a name that should be very familiar to anyone regularly checking out Australian Wrestling News and results on this site… Shazza McKenzie. But now is your chance to learn a little more about the bubbly and excitable superstar’s back story.

Shazza McKenzie began her training in September 2007 with the New South Wales based, Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF). Almost an entire year later, at the end of August 2008, she debuted as a manager for Bluey Bonza and went on to wrestle her first match in September. That match was against another mainstay of the Australian scene, Harley Wonderland (then known as Alison Wonderland), a wrestler who go on to become one of the biggest rivals of her rookie year. In fact, Shazza even ended up defeating Wonderland for her first championship title in wrestling, the ICW Women’s Championship.

Making the jump to PWA Australia in early 2009 opened many doors and created even more opportunities for McKenzie. She also earned her stripes, wrestling in virtually every state in the country. During her time in Sydney, she also became engaged in a bitter feud with The Pink Ladies’ Jessie McKay. In Queensland, for PWA Queensland (PWAQ), Shazza and Jessie mended fences, and teamed together to become ‘The Mac Attack’, wrestling The Brotherhood’s female representatives Kellie Skater and Sway on several occasions. McKenzie classes their August 2009 tag bout as one of her all-time favourite encounters (you can view the match below). When pressed on other defining moments, she named her hard fought battle against Madison Eagles at PWWA’s ‘Last Woman Standing’ show and her match with Tenille Tayla at MCW’s Ballroom Brawl.

A move to Melbourne, Victoria was a fresh start for her. At first, she found it hard to wrestle to find a new home base wrestling-wise, as the scene was floundering and she found it hard to get frequent bookings. In the last year or so, this has really turned around and Shazza could not be happier. Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) appeared on the scene with a bang, and its well regarded shows and strong talent base have given her much to work towards. Not content only to wrestle, McKenzie also manages Adelaide wrestler Rocky Menero… and in another moment that could possibly help to define her young career, she recently bested WWE developmental diva Tenille in what was described as her last ever Australian match. Always on the lookout for new opportunities, Shazza also appears regularly for Warzone Wrestling.

A ZUMBA instructor outside of wrestling, McKenzie uses her flexibility and speed to her advantage – with a wheelbarrow bulldog and a split-legged leg drop amongst her signature moves. She wins her matches via a ‘Shaztastic Stunner’ or a ‘Shazzadriver’ (Overdrive).

Shazza cites the main influences on her training as AWF’s Jay Law and Billy Flyswat, PWA’s Madison and Ryan Eagles and most recently, Champagne Pyro. Her inspiration as a wrestler is the legendary seven-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus – McKenzie claims that she saw her and ‘knew that she wanted to become a wrestler‘, as Trish proved that ‘you could be hot and still kick ass‘. Her future goals include the desire to wrestle overseas, in particular for Chicago, Illinois’ SHIMMER Women Athletes promotion, where four of her country-mates have appeared… could Shazza McKenzie be the next Australian star to appear under their banner?

Fans can also check Shazza out in action at PWA’s “Battle Lines” event on September 2nd at the Liverpool Masonic Center. She will be taking on Canada’s Nicole Matthews. She will also be wrestling the next night on the PWWA show, also at the Liverpool Masonic Center.

  • Add Shazza McKenzie on Facebook.
  • Check out her profile on famed women’s wrestling website, G.L.O.R.Y Wrestling.

You can also check out a match featuring her and Kellie Skater at an MCW show on Facebook.

NXT Watch: Nice Guys Finish Last

95

Welcome back to another riveting edition of the NXT Watch, where this week we see two former rookies, AJ & Maxine, square off one on one in an attempt to top their match together from Season 3, as they headline tonight’s show. Can AJ seek revenge for the surprise attack from last week? Or will the strong minded Maxine show that she has come back with a legitimate purpose? Let’s find out!

After a recap of last week’s events, we head backstage where Derrick Bateman is seen giving his soulmate, Maxine, a massage before her match. He states that they are the hottest couple in the WWE, and that after he wins NXT Redemption, they will be more powerful than HHH and Stephanie McMahon, more provocative than Edge and Lita, and even bigger than Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire. Maxine quickly interrupts him and proclaims that before any of that can happen, she must first get rid of AJ, although she’s a bit worried about Hornswoggle due to how sneaky he can be. Derrick says not to worry, as he has a surprise for Hornswoggle, which sparks Maxine to enlighten him that she also has a surprise for him later tonight, and proceeds to make out with him a little on the side.

We return to the arena by the sound of the highly controversial theme song of AJ. Our plaid loving diva makes her way out to the ring, Hornswoggle not far behind. Out next comes Maxine, who debuts both a titantron and theme song in her second week of being back. The dynamic duo of she and Derrick Bateman step out from the back, as he bends down on his knees and she transmits a kiss from her lips to his using her finger in an interesting show of affection from the heel (as noted by the ‘heel’ on her shirt) couple. The bell sounds and we kick things off in this main event contest.

AJ quickly takes Maxine down with a spear, followed by a few shoves of the head into the top turnbuckle. A clothesline almost gets her a pinfall, but Maxine runs outside the ring and screams to Derrick that she’s not okay. AJ Shoves her down and then throws her back into the ring, but not before exchanging a quick glare to Bateman. Maxine kicks AJ in the head as she enters the ring, garnering a two count. From there, she applies a headlock, followed by a few elbows to the shoulder. Locking her hold back in, AJ starts to fight out, but Maxine takes the advantage with a kick to the stomach/knee to the face combo for a near fall.

Maxine begins to taunt Hornswoggle and grow frustrated with AJ’s lack of staying down. An ‘AJ’ chant erupts, as Maxine locks in a grueling submission hold. She then sends AJ into the corner and snaps off a suplex for a two count. Maxine’s frustration continues to grow with every close pinfall, as she tosses AJ into the ropes and begins choking her relentlessly with her knee, and then foot. She demands AJ give up, and continues to just beat her down mercifully with kicks and a hair toss for a two. AJ with a quick small package for a near fall of her own, followed by a double clothesline. Maxine goes for the pin, but AJ kicks out.

Maxine applies a chin lock, as another AJ chant begins. AJ tries to fight out, but Maxine is too far in control. AJ runs off the ropes, but Maxine drills her in the skull with a boot to the face. Maxine asks the crowd if this is what they want, and goes to pick AJ up, but is punched in the face until she falls back into the ropes. Duck of a clothesline, followed by a sick spin kick. Once Maxine reaches a vertical base, AJ follows up with a Clothesline, this time connecting. AJ picks Maxine up and goes to irish whip her into the corner, however Maxine reverses it, only AJ comes back with a reverse diving crossbody for a close count.

AJ takes control with a dropkick, but out of nowhere Derrick Bateman then shoves Hornswoggle to the floor. This takes AJ off her game, allowing Maxine to quickly roll her up for the three count! The lovers celebrate in the ring, until Titus O’Neil runs them off to the outside. The two couples then exchange glares, as Maxine can be seen screaming at a fan who tries to slap her hand on the way out.

Thoughts: Another awesome week of NXT action. I thought the match was really entertaining, and one of the better divas matches in some time. AJ seems to connect with a crowd, as she got at least 3 chants during the match, which is pretty unheard of these days. I was really impressed with Maxine, as this was, in my opinion, her best match to date. One thing I noticed was how she continuously played to the crowd so much during the match, which not many divas do, and thus it helps her to stand out in even more ways than she already does. Thoroughly enjoying the feud between the two divas and their soulmates, and I hope to see even more of it. NXT gives them a plethora of time to entertain, and they’ve capitalized on it two weeks in a row now.

WWE & TNA House Show Rundown: Results from August 18th-20th, 2011

13

Having trouble keeping up with all of the mainstream women’s wrestling that takes place off TV? Well fear no more! Diva Dirt has got your back with the House Show Roundown! Without any further ado, let’s kick things off!

This week, Raw, SmackDown, and Impact Wrestling were all in action after a few weeks off due to pay per views. On the Raw side, Kelly Kelly defended her Divas Championship against top contender, Beth Phoenix, in a rematch from Summerslam.

SmackDown and TNA both opted for tag team bouts. SmackDown pit AJ & Kaitlyn, against the team of Natalya & Rosa Mendes.

Meanwhile, TNA highlighted Mickie James & Velvet Sky against Angelina Love & Knockouts Champion, Winter.

Check out the results below!

Thursday, August 18th

TNA Impact Wrestling in Columbus, Georgia
Mickie James & Velvet Sky def. Angelina Love and Knockouts Champion Winter

Friday, August 19th

WWE Raw in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada

TNA Impact Wrestling in Rome, Georgia
Mickie James & Velvet Sky def. Angelina Love and Knockouts Champion Winter
“I got to be Velvet Sky’s manager, so I met the Knockouts backstage right before their match. All four were very friendly, and Winter even walked up and said “Hi, my name is Katie.” Earl Hebner wore his “I Did It” t-shirt and Bret Hart sunglasses. Before the match, I spent about ten minutes with Earl, who was awesome to talk to.” (Source)

Saturday, August 20th

WWE Raw in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
Kelly Kelly def. Beth Phoenix
“Both girls got very loud pops, especially Kelly. The crowed absolutely loved her and on her way to the ring she stopped and posed with a guy who had an “I came here for Kelly Kelly” sign. Lucky guy. Really similar to their match at Summerslam with Kelly winning with a rollup.” (Source)

WWE SmackDown in Tacoma, Washington
A.J. & Kaitlyn def. Natalya & Rosa Mendes (Source)

TNA Impact Wrestling in Atlanta, Georgia
Mickie James & Velvet Sky def. Angelina Love and Knockouts Champion Winter

Thoughts: Pretty expected matches all around, but it seems like they are really pushing Kelly against Beth at house shows to build their chemistry together, which is working great if SummerSlam is any indication. Their next televised match together should be even better with all of these live events they are getting to work together. SmackDown and TNA look solid as well, in a pair of nice tag matches for the live crowd. All in all, looks like a good weekend loop to attend.

Nicole Matthews Blogs About PWWA Debut + SHIMMER Title Match, Other Matches Announced

Current ECCW SuperGirls Champion and one half of the Canadian NINJAs, Nicole Matthews, has written a blog for the PWA Australia website about her Australian (and PWWA!) debut. In the blog, she talks about the first ever international SHIMMER title defense and her opponents – current reigning champion Madison Eagles, and Jessie McKay.

My name is Nicole Matthews.

If you don’t know that name, you should. You should know your next SHIMMER champion. I was the longest reigning SHIMMER Tag Team Champion alongside Portia Perez. I am the current ECCW Women’s Champion, and have dominated the female wrestling scene in Canada.

In the last 5 years, I have became a household name in independent wrestling. I debuted in 2006, and it only took me a year and a half to debut in SHIMMER, the most prestigious female wrestling company in North America. I like to think of myself as a trail blazer, in fact. If it wasn’t for the enormous success of me, the ‘young’ generation of SHIMMER, including Jessie McKay and Kellie Skater, wouldn’t have even been looked at. You’re welcome ladies!

Everyone is making a big deal out of this match being held outside of North America, which of course it is. But hello?! Everyone should be making a big deal because this is Nicole Matthew’s first SHIMMER title match! It is a long time coming, and I’m ready for it. With my series of matches with her in SHIMMER, I know Jessie McKay very well. And as much as I don’t like to praise other wrestlers, I’ve always been a fan of Madison Eagles, and believe me, I’ve been studying. I’ve only been in the ring with Madison once. As a matter of fact, it was her debut match in SHIMMER, teaming with Jessie against Portia Perez and I. How fitting that MY debut in PWWA will be in a match with the two of them!

This triple threat will, of course, be a great match, but that’s none of my concern. These Aussie fans are not fans I need to please or entertain. I’ll let Jessie worry about the fan pandering, as she’s seemingly an expert at it.

On September 3rd, history will be made. It’ll mark the first time the SHIMMER title has been defended outside of America. And of course, it will begin the long reign of Nicole Matthews as SHIMMER Champion. I have often been touted as the future of women’s wrestling, and now, the future is near.

PWA Australia have announced that Nicole will also be in action on their show on September 2nd, facing off against fan favourite Shazza McKenzie. They also announced today that “The Rate Tank” Kellie Skater will be taking on New Zealand’s Evie on the PWWA show September 3rd. Both shows will be held next weekend at the Liverpool Masonic Center in Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia.

Raw Redux (August 22nd, 2011): A Solid Match And One Wicked Love Triangle Make For A Perfect Edition of Raw

140

Sunshine and rainbows. Puppies and kittens. Raindrops on roses. These are just a few of my favorite things. And last night, my favorite things gained another addition; soap-opera like editions of Monday Night Raw. In my humble opinion, randomocity makes the world a better place and Raw had a little bit of everything this week. We got Divas, storyline continuation, a fierce halter-top worn by Vickie Guerrero. There was a lot. To sum it all up in one dramatic little phrase, Raw was perfection this week. I almost want to name it Dolph Ziggler…

This week we’re kicking things off with our Diva match and surprise, surprise… it was filled with a little bit of controversy. Earlier in the evening it was announced that Brie Bella would be taking on Eve Torres in a singles match, but in all actuality it was Nikki who wrestled tonight. She took on Eve, who had her Diva’s Champion BFF, Kelly Kelly, with her. Nikki and Brie were in the ring when Raw returned from break, and Eve and Kelly walked onto the stage.

Is it just me, or is this Diva’s Championship reign making our sweet Kelly a little cocky?

Anyway, as Eve and Kelly make their way to the ring, Michael Cole lets us know that earlier in the day, Beth Phoenix and Natalya taped a special little message for the fans. Beth says people think the Divas of Doom want to be pretty, popular, and have voluptuous bodies like Kelly, and Natalya denies those accusations. Natalya then says that neither herself, nor Beth, are going to tell the world what they want.

Yes, that’s it.

The bell sounds and Nikki immediately goes on offense. Eve fights back and sends Nikki into the corner, but when she charges her opponent, Nikki is able to send her over the top rope. Eve skillfully lands on the apron but before she can capitalize on catching Nikki off guard, Brie runs interference. Nikki is able to hurt Eve using the ropes and the Colorado native falls to the outside. Nikki distracts the referee for a second to allow Brie to get a cheap shot in, and then goes to the outside to grab Eve. The older twin tosses her opponent back inside the ring and begins to work on wearing Eve down. Kelly rallies the crowd behind Eve, and the ex-Diva Search winner begins to fight back. She manages to slam Nikki into the back and both ladies are down.

They take their time gathering their energy, and both end up back on their feet at the same time. It’s Eve who takes over this time and she finally grounds Nikki. Eve decides to get the crowd going and unfortunately, we all know what that means. She does the infamous booty pop that we all love oh so freakin’ much. It’s followed up with a standing moonsault, and Eve goes for the cover. She almost gets a two count.

Eve gets back up to her feet and fends off Nikki, then heads for the top rope. We all know she’s going for her moonsault finisher, but Brie interjects herself into the mix again. Eve is distracted and this allows Nikki to jerk her foe off the ropes. Eve takes a terrible tumble and Nikki goes for the cover. Eve is somehow able to kick out and Nikki is not happy about that. She yells at the referee but nonetheless goes back to work. Eve fights her off and sends her back into the ropes, and when Nikki comes back at her, Eve is able to get her with a pretty looking swinging neckbreaker thing. Nikki is down for the count and Eve picks up a solid win. Kelly gets into the ring to celebrate with her bestie while Brie tries to check on her sister. For whatever reason, Brie’s presence annoys the champ and Kelly takes it upon herself to lay Brie out with her finisher.

Ummm, okay. Random.

Eve and Kelly celebrate and just like de ja vu, its cut short by an appearance from DoD. Beth and Natalya walk out onto the stage and clap for their rivals. An interesting little stare-down takes place and that’s all she wrote folks.

Same ole, same ole. The match itself was okay this week. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate. I suppose it served its purpose and really, there’s no other Divas on Raw to use in matches right now. I don’t mind it. What I do mind is that Nattie and Beth keep showing up and not really doing anything. It was okay one week, this week… ehhh. I think their promo should have taken place after the match and given us a little more to go on. My mild complaints are probably do to the fact I lack patience and I want this story to progress. If they want to take the time to develop it more, fine. I won’t complain. Someone needs to take their time with the Divas and if I have to see Beth and Nattie stand on the stage and clap for three more weeks, I’ll suck it up. Big SmackDown this week, followed by Raw, and a live Tuesday SmackDown. So fingers crossed that something amazing happens on one of these three shows.

The on-going sage of Vickie and Dolph continued this week as well. Last week, our sexy United States champion was upstaged by Vickie’s ringside antics. Those antics caught of the eye of the All American American Jack Swagger and an idea was thrown to Vickie backstage by the aforementioned Swagger.

This segment is amazing. Vickie is such a vixen. Part of me wants to scream at her and be like “how dare you come out and announce Swagger when Dolph is your man” and the other part of me wants to stand up applaud how vicious and ambitious she is. Every manager should have more than one client and I don’t see anything wrong with surrounding yourself with handsome blond men. Business is business, and there’s nothing wrong with mixing a little bit of pleasure in it as well. Besides, a woman has to be able to look at the people she works with, right? All superficialism aside, Vickie tripping and just sitting here was brilliant. It was only natural that Swagger jumped to the conclusion that Dolph pushed her. And the fact that Dolph and Vickie continue bicker makes me think that Vickie is about to stab her champion in the back. I fully expect to see this continue to Night of Champions where Dolph is going to have to defend his title. Swagger and the equally yummy Alex Riley are his likely opponents and it wouldn’t shock me one iota to see Vickie cost the Dolph the match.

Of course if I were Vickie, I would try and lure Alex into my clutches as well. A woman can never surround herself with too many men, especially ones who are talented and destined for glory.

That’s it for this week guys. Overall, I LOVED Raw this week and I hope this momentum keeps on keeping on. I’ll be back next week and until then… Cryssi out!

Former Knockouts Champion, Mickie James, recently returned to Mexico to compete for AAA following her debut a couple of months ago at TripleMania.

This time Mickie — who is a heel in AAA — competes in an eight-way elimination match for the Reina de Reinas Championship. The other participants are Pimpinela Escarlata, Cynthia Moreno, Faby Apache, Jennifer Blake, Lolita, Mari Apache and Sexy Star.

Pimpinela Escarlata, who won the match, is actually an exotico — a flamboyant male wrestler. It’s just WWE that puts women’s belts/crowns on guys! Trying to repress memories of Santina.

In true E-V-E style, the now 27-year-old ushered in her birthday with a booty pop. (No one tell Beth or Natalya!)

All together now: Aw!

[notice]MAJOR PRO-WRESTLING:EVE NEWS UPDATE: NEW VENUE, NEW TIMES, NEW SHOW, NEW NAMES – 1PW TICKET BUYERS TAKE A LOOK!

PRO-WRESTLING:EVE
PRESENTS
THE EVE V ICE RIBBON SERIES
3 SHOWS ACROSS SATURDAY OCTOBER 8 & SUNDAY OCTOBER 9
GYM COMBAT, CROCUS ROAD, NOTTINGHAM, NG2 3DP

As some of you may be aware, British wrestling promotion 1PW have now folded as a group and subsequently cancelled all of their future events including those set to take place on the evenings of Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9 at The Doncaster Dome. With Pro-Wrestling:EVE scheduled to provide the afternoon entertainment at the 1PW events on the days in question it furthermore means that Pro-Wrestling:EVE can no longer run the announced events at The Doncaster Dome. It is the policy of EVE Management that in the event of venue cancellation Pro-Wrestling:EVE has venues already in place so that the shows themselves are not cancelled and therefore it is with great pleasure that we announce the new venue of the next set of weekend tapings from Pro-Wrestling:EVE is Gym Combat, Nottingham (less than an hour south of Doncaster and just 3 minutes walk from Nottingham Rail Station!)

Gym Combat is an established full time wrestling venue acting as the training facility and live events venue for established British wrestling promotion House Of Pain run by the highly regarded 10 year wrestling professional Stixx (as seen in Dragon Gate UK rings).

With the new venue comes a new ability – to run longer shows than originally specified to us and also to run a THIRD bonus show as a special treat to those who are purchasing tickets to both Saturday and Sunday EVE events and also to those who had purchased tickets to the 1PW show that was set to take place on Sunday October 9. This means if you purchase tickets to BOTH EVE evening events on Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9 you will get FREE entry into the EVE afternoon event of Sunday October 9. Additionally if you have previously purchased a ticket for the 1PW event that was set to take place on Sunday October 9 then fear not – you need not spend the day without experiencing LIVE world class professional wrestling as Pro-Wrestling:EVE will give you FREE ENTRY to the afternoon event!

But that’s not the only FREE wrestling show of the weekend at Gym Combat, Nottingham for 1PW ticket buyers! Pro-Wrestling:EVE has teamed up with the fastest rising promotion to come out of the UK in the last 18 months in Southside Wrestling Entertainment to bring the fans effected by unfortunate cancellation of the 1PW events a great weekend of professional wrestling as not only is the afternoon Pro-Wrestling:EVE event on Sunday October 9 FREE to all 1PW ticket buying fans but on the afternoon of Saturday October 8 Southside Wrestling Entertainment will also provide a free show for everyone who had bought tickets to 1PW on that weekend (don’t worry if you don’t have a 1PW ticket to gain entry as tickets for the Southside event are on sale!) so all you fans who had previously purchased tickets to 1PW can still watch world class professional wrestling over the weekend of October 8 and 9!

The itinerary of events at Gym Combat for the weekend of October 8 and 9 is as follows:
