This week Raw hosted The Slammys, the night the Superstars and Divas wait all year for. After last year’s upset win by Maria in the category of ‘Diva of the Year, how could WWE top that? That’s right, a battle royal! But first, BFFs Lay-Cool won the “Knucklehead Moment of the Year award”. Check out their acceptance speech and the match below:
Let’s kick things off with the award. To be honest, it was more of the same from Lay-Cool in this segment. I would really love to see some kind of change in Lay-Cool in the new year, because this ‘Mean Girls’ schtick is really being run into the ground. It was amusing at for a while, but like most things in WWE, it’s being overdone at this point. Also, I thought it was very fitting that Layla accepted this award, as she’s the personality of this tandem. After making their speech, Lay-Cool says their about to win another Slammy and head to the ring for the battle royal.
Slammy-award winner, Rosa Mendes has much to celebrate this holiday. Last night she won that Supplementary Slammy and on Sunday night, she was crowned the new Queen of FCW. Watch her match with AJ below:
WSU original Alicia successfully won the open contract match for the WSU World Championship on Saturday night defeating Nikki Roxx. Elsewhere, Kristin Astara successfully made her debut defeating Niya. Results below:
“Alicia vs Roxx II” started off with WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage coming to the ring in an impromptu fashion. Savage stated that she had fractured her wrist, but it didn’t matter because the fans in Dunnellen, NJ didn’t deserve to see her wrestle anyway. Savage said she was going to do something she’s never done before in WSU and that was join the WSU commentating team! Savage called the entire night on DVD with WSU’s Robert Sternberg. Make sure to check out the DVD of this show to hear commentary of the entire show by the WSU Spirit Champion!
After Savage got to the broadcast booth, ring announcer Destiny was ready to start the show. However, she was interrupted by the WSU “All Guts, No Glory” Champion, Angel Orsini. Orsini, who recently had her belt sanctioned, has been on a tear in WSU defending her championship against all comers.
Angel Orsini announced that her scheduled opponent, Athena, had flight problems and was not here as scheduled. Orsini put out an open challenge to anyone in the locker room. Orsini’s challenge was quickly answered by Rick Cataldo. Cataldo said that his opponent Melissa Coates also was not here as scheduled. (Details on Athena/Coates, in our BACKSTAGE NEWS section below.) Cataldo said that Melissa Coates was off getting a vasectomy, but her loss was his gain and said he wanted to add some holiday weight, in the form of the All Guts, No Glory Championship, to his waist.
ANGEL ORSINI d. RICK CATALDO in 30 seconds to retain the AGNG Championship
Orsini made quick work of Rick, putting him away with a Kiss of Death.
Orsini said she wanted a real match tonight and asked if there was anyone else in the back. Jamilia Craft, not scheduled for the show, came out to accept.
ANGEL ORSINI d. JAMILIA CRAFT to retain the AGNG Championship
In a competitive match, Orsini put away the newcomer. However the story of the match was that Craft did hold her own against one of WSU’s best.
So this week on WWE television we were treated to a double dose of Lay-Cool (Layla and Michelle McCool for those of you who are new to WWE wrestling…) as the former co-Diva Champions appear on Raw and their home show, SmackDown. On Raw, we were privy to their innermost thoughts as they joined the team of Jerry “The King” Lawler, Josh Matthews, and CM (God) Punk for commentary. Post Natalya/Melina match, Lay-Cool treated the champ to a beatdown. Typical Lay-Cool, eh? Well on SmackDown, Natalya made sure the same fate didn’t await her as she took on Layla in a singles match. The hot Canadian Diva brought a partner down to the ring with her.
Beth Phoenix, the Glamazon. Lets take a look at what went down.
Lay-Cool head to the ring first and can I just break kayfabe here for one second and say, my damn Michelle looks fierce tonight?! At times, she truly does put other women to shame. But anyway, Lay-Cool are walking to the ring and up on the Titan Tron a video package highlighting what went down between Lay-Cool and Natalya at the conclusion of Monday’s match against Melina started to play. Lay-Cool were quite proud of their actions and Layla even started to stroke her imaginary beard as the girls got settled inside the ring. Natalya’s music hits and the WWE Diva’s Champion makes her way onto the stage. She pauses and smiles (while she wears my favorite outfit of hers) and she looks down at the ring. That smile gets even brighter when Natalya’s music fades and the Glamazon’s music hits. Beth walks out and joins Natalya, much to the chagrin of Lay-Cool, and both blonde beauties walk down to the ring.
We are pleased to welcome new Diva Dirt writer, April, who is taking over the Impact Write-Up.
This week on Impact was just saddlebags full of Knockout action. First, we saw the vacating of the Knockouts Tag Team Championship, the return of the Scream Queen, Daffney and a first for TNA: a Knockouts steel cage as the main event, between Mickie James and Tara. Take a deep breath, you’re gonna need the oxygen…
Our first glimpse of the TNA Knockouts on this episode of Impact comes via video package from August 05, 2010 where Taylor Wilde and Hamada win the TNA Knockouts Tag Titles. Mike Tenay announces that Hamada has left the company due to passport issues. With Hamada gone, the titles are obviously up for grabs and their new owners will be determined tournament-style. It is announced that Sarita will be teaming with the returning Daffney (odd team, much?) against The Beautiful People, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.
Later, Tara is seen backstage, tuning up for what is meant to be Tara: Live in Concert. Pray to whatever God you pray to because this is going to take some major miracle workmanship. Generation Me is with her. All means of importance go out the window here. True, they may appear to look like Knockouts but they, indeed, are not. Tara’s attempt to one up Mickie James is up next.
The Knockouts weren’t the only ones in the main event picture last night. Though obviously less prestigious (this is WWE Superstars after all!), former Divas Champions do battle this week on Superstars, Alicia Fox takes on Eve Torres Watch below:
Oh hey there, Ashley Valence! The short-lived NXT co-host has resurfaced and found herself on ring announcing duties on Superstars after a couple of months of brushing up in FCW. Not a bad job.
Eve is out first and is referred to as ‘Steve Torres’ on commentary by CM Punk. Umm, I’m not even going to touch that.
After Alicia comes out, it’s go time as the Divas get off to an iffy start before Eve rolls across Alicia’s back in a back body drop attempt and counters into an armdrag. Nice maneuver by Torres. After another arm drag, Eve applies an arm-lock on Alicia as the Foxy Queen tries to fight out before eventually whipping Eve into the corner. Eve uses the bottom rope to help elevate her into a kick but Alicia ducks and then slams her against the canvas by the hair. Fox grabs her by the hair and again slams her against the mat before hitting her with knee strikes across the face and we see a near fall. Punk, meanwhile, cracks a joke that some days he wants to propose to Eve & others he wants to hit her with a shovel. Yikes!
Last weekend was a big one for relative newcomers, Mia Yim and Jamilia Craft. The duo picked up a big victory over veterans Daizee Haze and Sara Del Rey at Real Championship Wrestling. Highlights of the show are below. Keep an eye out for Mia’s awesome bump as she’s kicked off the apron by SDR! … Read more
On this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, Diva fans were treated to a double-shot of action in the form of a mixed tag match featuring Maryse and Ted DiBiase vs the team of Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan, as well as Natalya vs Melina in a non-title bout. First up, the mixed tag team match:
First out are the power couple of Maryse and Teddy, who have had a bit of tension between them in the past couple of weeks. While the million dollar couple prepare inside the ring, we cut backstage to smiling Nikki Bella, who goes to knock on Daniel Bryan’s dressing room door. However, before she can knock, the door opens and Bryan walks out with Brie Bella on his arm. Nikki asks Brie what she’s doing there and is informed that Brie volunteered to be Daniel’s partner tonight. Nikki smiles as her sister walks off with the U.S champ, but her expression quickly turns sour once they’re out of sight.

Video package promoting ROH’s Final Battle pay per view on December 18th featuring Daizee Haze and Sara Del Rey. The pair will face off in a tag team match, Daizee teaming with Amazing Kong against SDR and a mystery partner. Watch below:
If you consider the fact that the rivalry between Mickie James and Tara has roots in their time in the WWE, this feud has been going on for a long time. In between these phantom WWE issues and now, there have been countless brawls and a match that ended in a double DQ. It’s inevitable that Mickie will eventually move on to challenge Madison Rayne for the Knockouts Championship, but is tonight really the last stop on the runaway freight train that has been Mickie vs. Tara? Yes, I know runaway trains don’t stop–don’t let that ruin my metaphor. Let’s just watch the events unfold and see if these Knockouts are really ready to move on:
We start with Knockouts champ Madison Rayne being interviewed by Christy Hemme. Madison says there’s no way Mickie’s getting to her or her championship, because she has to get through Tara first, an that’s not going to happen. I can appreciate that they’re not trying to hide the direction in which this feud is headed. Also, is it just me (I mentioned this on Twitter), or does Madison’s dark hair make her resemble Mickie a bit? Do I smell a “long lost sister” Maury-esque twist coming up in this storyline? No? Just me? Anywho, she continues to play up Tara, saying that she’s here to “protect the princess”. Is Madison right–will Tara really protect her, or will she simply be paved into Mickie’s road to Madison?
We’re shown a video package chronicling this feud. Lots of upturned tables and uncomfortable fighting attire. With all the brawling and disqualifications that have come from this feud, this Falls Count Anywhere stipulation really is the best fit. Tara’s out first on her hog, and Mickie follows. Tara exits the ring, gets Mickie to follow, and the match starts on the outside. They trade blows, and Tara tries to climb over the barricade, but gets crotched on it. Whether you’re a lady or a gent, that does not feel good. Mickie goes for the first pin attempt of the match, but Tara kicks out. Mickie continues to beat on Tara, alternating between face smashes on the barricade and face smashes on the ring apron. She tosses Tara back into the ring, climbs the turnbuckle, and takes down Tara with a flying dropkick. She goes for another pin, but Tara wraps her legs around the ropes and forces a rope break.

NXT may be over, but the former Rookie Divas can still be seen every Sunday night in Florida on FCW’s television show. Former Knockouts Champions collide as Angelina Love takes on Tara this week on Xplosion. Watch below: Thoughts: Looks like Angelina’s losing streak only exists on Impact as she picks up a big victory over Tara here. I know this show means nothing when it comes to storylines and only airs internationally, but the week of … Read more
Last week’s SmackDown episode was forgettable especially since I have no clue what it was about. That’s pretty bad seeing as how I wrote about it. This week, we have another one-on-one Diva match featuring the little seen Rosa Mendes against one half of Lay-Cool. Lets take a look at how things went down.
Rosa Mendes is the first Diva to make her way to the ring and boy is her ring entrance a spectacle. From the ballroom dancing music to her little dancing, Rosa does her best to get a reaction from the crowd. She heads for the ring and gets settled, which leads into the Lay-Cool entrance. Layla and Michelle McCool make their way to the ring and Layla is the one who is dressed to wrestle tonight. They mock Rosa’s entrance and rightfully so, and Layla gets ready to get down to business. Of course business for Layla is making fun of someone so she turns to Michelle and starts to mimic Rosa’s salsa moves and jump rope skills. Rosa takes exception to this and kicks Layla right in the derriere. Layla crashes face first into the mat and Rosa picks her up by the hair and tosses her into the corner. A stunned Layla has to pick herself up by using the ropes. Rosa follows her to the corner but Layla is quick to rebound with a nice little kick and stiff clothesline. The Costa Rican is down and Layla goes for the cover.
Mr Glamazon wasn’t the only one serenading women’s wrestling fans this week. Oh no! Not to be outdone by our favourite Glamafan, Mickie James performed her entrance song, ‘Hardcore Country’ live (*cough*) for the crowd at the Impact Zone! But with a big Falls Count Anywhere match against rival Tara this Sunday, it should be of no surprise that the Vicious Vixen was close by…
Mickie’s performance was interrupted first by Eric Young in chaps, following an earlier segment in which he wanted to be part of Mickie’s band. However, while this interruption was more comedic, it was the second interruption that really put a dampener on things. Mid-song, Tara crashes the party (or saves us?) by clocking Mickie from behind and a brawl ensues! Tara smashes Mickie face-first into a speaker before Eric Young intervenes. Tara strikes him across the back with his own cow-bell. Womp womp, Eric. The two Knockouts exchange blows as Mickie tries her hardest to keep her dress from falling apart. (If you know you’re taping a brawl — why would you go strapless?) The ladies crash into the drums and begin catfighting as security pulls them apart. That concludes this opening segment, but the night is just getting started…
Following last night’s Impact, there was even more of Mickie James and Tara on Reaction. Check it out below:

Thoughts: Things I’ve learned: Eric Young and Mickie are dating and going on tour together, Mickie hit Tara ‘in the privates’ — or as Eric Young calls it, the ‘vag bone’. Wow.
For the past thirteen weeks we have laughed, cried, cheered, and booed the six rookie Divas who made up season three of NXT. Jamie Keyes, Maxine, Aksana, AJ, Naomi, and Kaitlyn all started with a dream. For some of them, it was a life long dream to be a WWE Diva. For others, it was an opportunity to entertain millions of people in a capacity that they probably never thought would be possible. It was a season of highs and lows, to say the least, and tonight it all culminated with an unlikely winner that yours truly predicted after the very first episode aired.
The show kicked off tonight in atypical fashion. Instead of Blue Eyes in the ring, we were treated to the unfortunate site of Michael Cole. He was somber about what happened on Raw and explained to everyone that he planned on speaking to Jerry Lawler in private about what went down between the two the previous night. Like we really care. Josh Matthews started to speak next. He sent us to Matt Striker (thank God). Striker was in the ring and introduced us to Vickie Guerrero. Vickie screeched her catchphrase “excuse me” as she walked onto the stage. She said that Kaitlyn should thank God that Vickie was her pro because without Vickie, no one would even know Kaitlyn’s name. Kaitlyn walked out, and pro and rookie made their way to the ring. Naomi followed them out and once everyone was settled into the ring, Striker spoke again. He told both girls that after thirteen weeks one of them would have their dream come true. He turned to Naomi and told her that Kelly Kelly taped a message for her. Kelly said that she was on her way overseas to entertain the troops with Eve and the Big Show, and that’s the only reason why she wasn’t there tonight. She sang Naomi’s praises and told her that she was the best rookie anyone could have asked for.
Last week, Natalya asserted her dominance over the Divas division in a unbeweavable singles match against the feisty Alicia Fox. This week she leads the team of Gail Kim and Melina against Alicia, Maryse and Tamina. Will she be able to be victorious once again? Check out the match below:\
Out first is the heel team and we are treated to a replay of the odd, yet entertaining exchange between Tamina and Santino. I should have known this was a precursor to what was to come later in this match, but I ignored it. Silly me.
Out next is the babyface team, who get a pretty good reaction from the crowd. After the obligatory posing to the crowd, the referee takes the belt from Nattie and starts the match with Melina and Maryse kicking things off for their respective teams. As we all know there’s no love lost between these two, so it was no surprise to see these two go toe to toe in the middle of the ring. In her usual cocky fashion, Maryse piefaced Melina, but gets a stiff forearm for her troubles. Melina mounts the French-Canadian beauty and they roll around for a bit, before Maryse manages to escape under the bottom rope.
Divas Champion, Natalya is briefly interviewed in a news report from this past Monday’s episode of Raw in Orlando for the local Fox News affiliate. In the interview, the reporter manages to get Nattie to hike up her skirt a little bit to get a feel of her rock hard quadriceps. I don’t think that’s … Read more
