Diva Dirt LIVE returns for a pay per view special as we dissect all the fallout from tonight’s TLC pay per view. We’ll be discussing tonight’s first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match and as always, taking your calls throughout the night too.
All the details you need to call in, tweet and comment are after the cut:
It’s time to hand out some proverbial gold stars! Based on the week’s TV and news, each of the Diva Dirt team members have picked one female who they deem to be their ‘Star of the Week’. Read below…
April: I’m sure a lot of people would disagree but I think Michelle McCool finally got what she deserved. Diva of the Year is a worthy title for the former champion. She has been a staple in the WWE this past year and really secured herself in the Divas division. She is a major talent and I hope she continues on well into the future.
Cryssi: Despite nearly getting put through a table on SmackDown, Lay-Cool stand out as the Stars of the Week for me. Not only did they steal a Slammy win from a 105-year old woman, the ‘Cool’ part of the faction rightfully won the Diva of the Year Slammy by disposing of Diva’s Champion, Natalya, in a battle royal on Raw. Further more, Lay-Cool are going to step foot inside the ring on Sunday at TLC in the first ever Diva tables match. Whether they win or lose come Sunday, Lay-Cool are stars not just of the week, but of the whole year to be honest. Love them or hate them, they make you talk about them. And that is exactly what makes them the stars that they rightfully are.
David: My Star of the Week is Michelle McCool. She won the Diva’s battle royal on Monday Night Raw to officially be named “2010 Diva of the Year”, an honor I feel she deserved whether she won that battle royal or not. McCool was front and center of the Divas division all year and held the championship multiple times. Maybe the WWE had her win a battle royal because they knew fans wouldn’t vote for her. Whatever the reason, her win this past Monday night cemented a great year in her career. I would also like to hand out a second star of the week, this one to Allison Danger, as she was named the president of a new female wrestling promotion, Pro-Wrestling SUN. Congratulations and best wishes to her as she spearheads another great opportunity for fans to cheer the hard-working women in professional wrestling!
Tonight, ROH presents something of a dream team match as Daizee Haze and Awesome Kong take on Sara Del Rey and Serena Deeb at the Final Battle iPPV.
Live coverage of the match below:
We kick off with a nice video package with Daizee Haze and Sara Del Rey discussing how they’d like to see more competition for women in ROH and their rivalry with each other. They want to test each other and put each other ‘through a battle’.
Del Rey and Serena are out first in matching red gear. Next is Daizee and Kong, now going by ‘Awesome Kong’ in ROH rather than ‘Amazing Kong‘.
Daizee & SDR kick things off as Del Rey slams haze onto the mat. Daizee manages to hit a hurricanrana into a roll up but Del Rey kicks out. She later then hits another hurricanrana from the top rope.
Del Rey tags out to Serena who stops Haze from tagging out to Kong. The fans chant ‘CM Punk’ in reference to Serena. As the action is going on, Del Rey runs into the ring with a boot to Kong on the apron. Del Rey tags back in and begins stomping Daizee in the corner before applying an abdominal stretch. She tags out to Serena who applies an abdominal stretch of her own, digging her elbow into Daizee’s side. She then receives some leverage from SDR from the outside, holding her arm from the outside. SDR now tags in and they do the same spot with Del Rey holding Serena’s hand on the outside. As the referee is distracted by Kong, Daizee has Del Rey rolled up and could have had won the match.
Good news for UK viewers! Sky Sports will be simultaneously airing the live episode of SmackDown this coming Tuesday night at 2am (9pm ET).
As a reminder, USA Network will be having a big ‘WWE Week’ from Monday with a live Raw on Monday as usual, live SmackDown on Tuesday and a two hour airing of Tribute to the Troops on Wednesday.
Two big nights of women’s wrestling this weekend as ROH presents its Final Battle iPPV tonight live from New York, followed by WWE’s TLC pay per view tomorrow.
Final Battle will feature a big Women of Honor tag team match as Daizee Haze teams up with Amazing Kong to take on Sara Del Rey and Serena Deeb in her first appearance for one of the big three since being released from WWE.
The iPPV begins at 7.30pm ET and can be ordered for just $14.99 by clicking here.
Diva Dirt will have live coverage of the show tonight, so stay tuned.
With TLC just mere days away, the Divas of the WWE were getting into the pay-per-view spirit on this Friday’s rendition of SmackDown. Michelle McCool,Layla,Beth Phoenix, and Diva’s Champion, Natalya, put together a nice little segment that built up their Sunday night showdown pretty darn well. Elsewhere, Kelly Kelly found a new potential soulmate in the form of a six foot six, dreamy blue eyed Scottish lad by the name of Drew McIntyre. Unfortunately for Drew, Kaitlyn the cockblocker showed up and ruined his chances of scoring a date with the WWE’s Barbie girl, but there’s always next week, right?!
Lay-Cool were walking to the ring when SmackDown returned from a commercial break, which set up the most important part of the show in my humble opinion. The two-time Slammy award winning duo were dressed in matching outfits and wore matching expressions of irritation on their faces. They had microphones and Michelle started us off. She said that what we were witnessing was the official protest of the Diva’s tables match at TLC this Sunday. She said that the match was not going to happen and Layla said that the match was completely barbaric. Michelle agreed and then Layla asked the crowd who in their right mind would want to see them go through a table? The crowd cheered which did nothing but piss off Lay-Cool. Michelle began to rant that no one seemed to understand what “diva” was. She said the crowd knew nothing about it and that the girls in the back knew nothing about it as well. Layla spoke up and said that being diva meant being flawless, and both Michelle and Layla gestured to themselves. Michelle declared that the table match at TLC was off and they stood their ground as Natalya’s music starting blaring across the PA system.
It is that time once again, folks. Time to dive back into a total recall of full throttle action by TNA’s Knockouts. Last week, we saw an epic cage match between Mickie James and Tara, The Beautiful People advanced in the newly announced Knockouts Tag Team Title tournament and our resident Scream Queen, Daffney returned to the Impact Zone. This week, the tournament continues. Who will go on to face Angelina Love and Velvet Sky for the gold? I know you are all chomping at the bit to find out what happened this week so onward we go!
Our first, earth shattering glimpse of TNA beauty comes in the form of Cookie this week. She escorts her slick haired guido, Robbie E. to the ring in an X-Division Title rematch against Jay Lethal. I am still not sure about these two. I have never been a fan of the Jersey Shore and everytime I see them, I feel like I am being forced to watch bad MTV reruns. Nonetheless, Cookie is sporting all black with the purple streaks. Love a curvy woman being on the roster but that outfit was not flattering, Cooks.
The match starts off quick, as does Cookie’s interference in the match-up. She easily flattens Lethal with an ankle grab, sending him to the mat. This prompts the flaming firecrotch, Christy Hemme to charge the ring, wasting little time taking the Guidette to the ground. Christy, barefoot and dressed like she stepped out of a Knockouts Christmas card, whips out a silver set of handcuffs. Yes, this is definitely a Jersey Shore rerun. With a little effort, Christy manages to cuff herself to Cookie, who is not happy at all. Ladies and Gents, I do believe we have a ‘Situation’ on our hands.
Following yesterday’s report of a suspicious fire at Knockout, Tara‘s business Black Widow Customs in Louisville, Kentucky, the former champion issued a statement via her MySpace page.
I just want to reach out to everyone who has expressed their concern over the fire at Black Widow Customs. First, thanks so much! The most important thing is that no one was hurt. Also, our window tinter Justin walked in on the fire. He acted heroically by first warning the neighbors, then attempting to put it out himself, and assisting the fireman as they scrambled to the scene. And for those who weren’t aware, there was an ice storm the previous night, and the roads were covered in sheets of ice, but the fire department arrived very quickly and kept it from being a VERY bad situation. So much thanks to them as well. The damage looks a lot worse than it is. The weeks leading up to Christmas are obviously a very busy time of the year for any retailer, and BWC will reopen ASAP. It may be as soon as Monday, although we’ll know better later today.
A local news station has also focused on an unhappy customer recently. I know the guys at BWC work hard and and take pride in what they do. I’m confident that they did the right thing, and anyone who knows me knows that I believe that the best defense is a good offense. You’ll be hearing more on this once BWC takes action.
More importantly right now, BWC has some hard working, dedicated employees that are suddenly out of work ten days before Christmas through no fault of their own. I will personally make sure that their hard work is rewarded, and that they have a happy holiday season.
Mickie James will cash in her title match on January 9th at the Genesis pay per view, TNA has officially announced.
After defeating Angelina Love in a #1 Contender’s Match a few weeks back on Impact, James earned a bout with champion Madison Rayne. With her feud with Tara now over, Mickie will set her sights on the Knockouts Championship and becoming the first woman to hold a trifecta of gold (the WWE Women’s & Divas Championships and the Knockouts Championship).
Thoughts: It’s pretty much inevitable that Mickie will become the next Knockouts Champion, but will it be at Genesis? Frankly, given the roll Sarita has been on (and I believe she has a legitimate claim for this considering she has wins over Rayne), I’d love to see her come out at Genesis and insert herself in the match making it a three-way and ending up stealing the belt in Edge-like fashion.
Former Knockouts Champions, Angelina Love and Tara are two of the stars featured on Impact Xtra this week, TNA’s weekly web follow-up to the Impact broadcast.
Get your weekly dose of Knockouts action on tonight’s Impact and then stay tuned for even more on TNA Reaction. To watch, tune into Spike TV from 9pm ET.
In a further update to the news of a ‘suspicious fire’ at TNA Knockout, Tara‘s business Black Widow Customs this morning, the business was featured on WHAS11 News’ Consumer Watch yesterday with a customer claiming that the business had ripped him off.
News story below:
The WHAS11 website writes:
A Kentucky football player looking to pimp his ride is now looking for a refund after he says his car was lifted and left virtually un-drivable. That player contacted WHAS11’s Andy Treinen and Andy answered for this week’s Consumer Watch.
They’re all the rage with many young drivers these days; chrome rims, lifted suspensions, and tricked-out rides.
Black Widow Customs on Preston Highway has been customizing cars in Louisville, since a grand opening in 2008 was declared Black Widow Day. The business is owned by professional wrestler, Lisa Marie Varon, and her husband Lee.
Their star-power and a creative promotional campaign is what attracted Kentucky football player Antwane Glenn to the business. He claims the company botched his lift. “As soon as I turned onto Preston Highway, I made that right and I knew something was wrong with it because it was scrubbing,” explained Glenn; by scrubbing Glenn means the tire hits the fender well when it turns.
A fire broke out this morning at Black Widow Customs, the business owned by TNA Knockout, Tara aka Lisa Marie Varon in Louisville, KY.
WHAS11, a local news station in Louisville reports:
Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) – Firefighters and arson investigators are on the scene of a business fire on Preston Highway.
The business – Black Widow Customs – was the subject of a Consumer Watch investigation on WHAS11 Wednesday.
The fire is out right now but firefighters say the fire is suspicious.
An employee says when he got to the business Thursday morning, the shop had been broken into and vandalized and that there were several small fires on the ground near a car inside the shop.
He says he couldn’t put the fires out and that they spread quickly, destroying the whole inside of the store.
Investigators say they are looking into the fact that Black Widow Customs was featured in a WHAS11 Consumer Watch.
There were no injuries in the fire.
Some of the other businesses suffered smoke damage.
News report below:
The fire is being treated as ‘suspicious’ by officials, with arson experts on the scene. Black Widow Customs was featured on WHAS11 news’ ‘consumer watch’ portion just yesterday with a customer claiming that the business had ripped them off.
Lucha Libre USA star, Reby Sky posted on Twitter that she turned down an offer from WWE due to her contract with the MTV2 show.
She writes: “Weird day. Just had to turn down WWE (per my Lucha Libre USA contract). Very weird day.”
Thoughts: I’m assuming Reby is talking about a developmental deal offer. Reby is obviously very passionate about wrestling, currently training and working for LLUSA and EVOLVE, as well as co-hosting Busted Open on Sirius XM. Reby is still very young and hopefully she can work for WWE one day.

TNA color commentator, Taz had high praise indeed for Knockouts Mickie James and Tara for their cage match last Thursday.
Speaking on the Busted Open radio show, he said:
Both of those girls worked their tails off… Tara was injured earlier in that match. They really, really took it to a new level. They wanted to steal the show. They wanted to capture that moment… They sure did. Everyone was so proud of those ladies. (Source)
Thoughts: Good to hear Taz’s praise for Mickie and Tara. It seems like everyone in TNA was proud of the match. A shining moment for the Knockouts.
Happy holidays everybody! I hope you enjoy my “Hitting the Ropes” Glam Slam holiday mailbag and let’s make 2011 a year to remember!
Once again, thanks to all of you who submitted questions!

“After seeing the whole season of NXT do you think it was a good thing? Or do you think just a regular debut on Raw or Smackdown would have been fine?”
Mr. G – Overall I enjoyed the Diva’s season of NXT. As the show progressed I found myself invested in the characters and hoping that several of them would find themselves on the main roster. We’ve seen from previous seasons you don’t have to “win” the show to get a WWE contract, so I hope we see Kaitlyn, Naomi, and AJ (at least) added to the roster, which would infuse some much needed energy to the Divas division. I thought Aksana was hilarious although I am not in love with her as a wrestler. In any case I was happy to see the girls get their own show and I think it was an effective was to present them to the WWE Universe. It allowed the WWE to “market test” the girls and it appears several of them cultivated a nice fan base, which I think would have been difficult to do had they just been booked straight to Raw or Smackdown.
Now…that being said, there were problems with the show. The constant berating and belittling from the announcers was way over the top. Whatever you think about the Divas, these girls are still trying to do their best, and this is still their careers. I didn’t understand WWE allowing that type of verbal abuse from their own employees. After a while it became mean-spirited. Also, switching to WWE.com was disruptive and I’m still disappointed that Isis the Amazon was not allowed on the program.
