SmackDown Redux (December 31st, 2010): Glama-Hart Slam the Door on 2010 By Shutting Down Lay-Cool

SmackDown tonight provided us with the perfect ending of the year. Glama-Hart and Lay-Cool put together one last blow off match (I think…) and it was nothing short of spectacular.

Happy New Year!

Backstage at SmackDown, there’s a party going on. Superstars, Divas, general managers, and a leprechaun are milling around as Rosa Mendes comes into focus. She’s hanging out with Hornswoggle for whatever reason. She’s feeding him cheese cubes from a silver platter and makes the comment that two thousand and ten was a pretty good year for her. ‘Swoggle starts making noise, so Rosa corrects herself and says that it has been a good year for “them” and that now, it’s time to celebrate. NXT rookie, Conor O’Brian, appears and stands over Rosa’s shoulder. He eyes her platter of cheese and begins to sniff it. Rosa freaks out a bit and wants to know what he’s doing, all the while turning away from him in disgust. Conor says that he admires Rosa’s cheese and his face starts to twitch. Thankfully for Rosa, the sexy Latin stallion, Alberto del Rio, walks over and demands to know what his rookie is doing. Conor motions towards the cheese and an apologetic Alberto turns to Rosa. He tells her not to mind his rookie and makes a comment about Conor looking like a rat. He then turns to Conor and warns him to leave the lady alone (Rosa smirks), as well as the thing (‘Swoggle enunciates). Alberto and Conor, as well as Ricardo, walk off and Teddy Long stands up on a platform. He welcomes everyone to the party and asks for volunteers to come up and make New Year’s resolutions.

Cue Drew McIntyre who gets up and smiles at Kelly Kelly. He says that all of us can mark it down that in two thousand and eleven, Drew will be a champion. He turns to Kelly and adds that he also wants to be a better person. A smiling Kelly seems to approve of this and unfortunately that probably means that in two thousand and eleven us fans are going to be subjected to more horribly acted segments between these two. Womp womp.

SmackDown Redux (December 17th, 2010): Natalya and Beth Send A Message

With TLC just mere days away, the Divas of the WWE were getting into the pay-per-view spirit on this Friday’s rendition of SmackDown. Michelle McCool, Layla, Beth Phoenix, and Diva’s Champion, Natalya, put together a nice little segment that built up their Sunday night showdown pretty darn well. Elsewhere, Kelly Kelly found a new potential soulmate in the form of a six foot six, dreamy blue eyed Scottish lad by the name of Drew McIntyre. Unfortunately for Drew, Kaitlyn the cockblocker showed up and ruined his chances of scoring a date with the WWE’s Barbie girl, but there’s always next week, right?!

Lay-Cool were walking to the ring when SmackDown returned from a commercial break, which set up the most important part of the show in my humble opinion. The two-time Slammy award winning duo were dressed in matching outfits and wore matching expressions of irritation on their faces. They had microphones and Michelle started us off. She said that what we were witnessing was the official protest of the Diva’s tables match at TLC this Sunday. She said that the match was not going to happen and Layla said that the match was completely barbaric. Michelle agreed and then Layla asked the crowd who in their right mind would want to see them go through a table? The crowd cheered which did nothing but piss off Lay-Cool. Michelle began to rant that no one seemed to understand what “diva” was. She said the crowd knew nothing about it and that the girls in the back knew nothing about it as well. Layla spoke up and said that being diva meant being flawless, and both Michelle and Layla gestured to themselves. Michelle declared that the table match at TLC was off and they stood their ground as Natalya’s music starting blaring across the PA system.

Raw Redux (December 13th, 2010): Lay-Cool are Slammy Queens

This week Raw hosted The Slammys, the night the Superstars and Divas wait all year for. After last year’s upset win by Maria in the category of ‘Diva of the Year, how could WWE top that? That’s right, a battle royal! But first, BFFs Lay-Cool won the “Knucklehead Moment of the Year award”. Check out their acceptance speech and the match below:

Let’s kick things off with the award. To be honest, it was more of the same from Lay-Cool in this segment. I would really love to see some kind of change in Lay-Cool in the new year, because this ‘Mean Girls’ schtick is really being run into the ground. It was amusing at for a while, but like most things in WWE, it’s being overdone at this point. Also, I thought it was very fitting that Layla accepted this award, as she’s the personality of this tandem. After making their speech, Lay-Cool says their about to win another Slammy and head to the ring for the battle royal.

Diva Dirt’s Stars of the Week: Week of November 29th

It’s time to hand out some proverbial gold stars! Based on the week’s TV and news, each of the Diva Dirt team members have picked one female who they deem to be their ‘Star of the Week’. Read below…

Cryssi: I think it’s only fitting that my first ever Diva Dirt Star of the Week goes to one of the girls I showcased for 13 straight weeks. I can make a case for all the NXT rookies and why they each deserve this honor, but for this week I’m going to select the one who personally impressed me the most. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Kaitlyn is as green as Earth Day when it comes to wrestling. Her experience is severely lacking, but that said she came out to the ring each and every week and made the most of what got thrown at her. She was given a storyline in which she flourished. Her chemistry with Dolph Ziggler was hot and her feud with Vickie was fun to watch. She even had a great match throughout all of this and that was when she was in the ring the first time against Naomi. Kaitlyn got the WWE to rally behind her and more importantly the fans rallied behind her as well. On Tuesday night she was crowned the winner of season three of NXT and I’m truly excited for her. Her week kept on getting better when she personally announced it to Vickie and Dolph that she was the newest SmackDown Diva. Vickie was horrified. Dolph on the other hand… well lets just say that the sparks are so there. Kaitlyn is my Diva Dirt Star of the Week. I can’t wait to see her on SmackDown next week.

David: My Star of the Week is Kaitlyn. It can be argued that she didn’t deserve to be the winner of NXT season three and that she isn’t very good in the ring, but regardless she took full advantage of her opportunity to be on the show. During her matches she seemed very green at times, but her storyline with Vickie Guerrero was amusing and she obviously connected well enough with the fans because they voted her as the WWE’s next breakout star. I’m not sure how the WWE will utilize her in the future, but for now I congratulate her for winning NXT and a job well done!

SmackDown Redux (December 3rd, 2010): Just a Typical Diva Night on SmackDown

Last week’s SmackDown episode was forgettable especially since I have no clue what it was about. That’s pretty bad seeing as how I wrote about it. This week, we have another one-on-one Diva match featuring the little seen Rosa Mendes against one half of Lay-Cool. Lets take a look at how things went down.

Rosa Mendes is the first Diva to make her way to the ring and boy is her ring entrance a spectacle. From the ballroom dancing music to her little dancing, Rosa does her best to get a reaction from the crowd. She heads for the ring and gets settled, which leads into the Lay-Cool entrance. Layla and Michelle McCool make their way to the ring and Layla is the one who is dressed to wrestle tonight. They mock Rosa’s entrance and rightfully so, and Layla gets ready to get down to business. Of course business for Layla is making fun of someone so she turns to Michelle and starts to mimic Rosa’s salsa moves and jump rope skills. Rosa takes exception to this and kicks Layla right in the derriere. Layla crashes face first into the mat and Rosa picks her up by the hair and tosses her into the corner. A stunned Layla has to pick herself up by using the ropes. Rosa follows her to the corner but Layla is quick to rebound with a nice little kick and stiff clothesline. The Costa Rican is down and Layla goes for the cover.

One count.

NXT Redux (November 30th, 2010): NXT’s Cinderella Story; Kaitlyn Wins Season Three

For the past thirteen weeks we have laughed, cried, cheered, and booed the six rookie Divas who made up season three of NXT. Jamie Keyes, Maxine, Aksana, AJ, Naomi, and Kaitlyn all started with a dream. For some of them, it was a life long dream to be a WWE Diva. For others, it was an opportunity to entertain millions of people in a capacity that they probably never thought would be possible. It was a season of highs and lows, to say the least, and tonight it all culminated with an unlikely winner that yours truly predicted after the very first episode aired.

The show kicked off tonight in atypical fashion. Instead of Blue Eyes in the ring, we were treated to the unfortunate site of Michael Cole. He was somber about what happened on Raw and explained to everyone that he planned on speaking to Jerry Lawler in private about what went down between the two the previous night. Like we really care. Josh Matthews started to speak next. He sent us to Matt Striker (thank God). Striker was in the ring and introduced us to Vickie Guerrero. Vickie screeched her catchphrase “excuse me” as she walked onto the stage. She said that Kaitlyn should thank God that Vickie was her pro because without Vickie, no one would even know Kaitlyn’s name. Kaitlyn walked out, and pro and rookie made their way to the ring. Naomi followed them out and once everyone was settled into the ring, Striker spoke again. He told both girls that after thirteen weeks one of them would have their dream come true. He turned to Naomi and told her that Kelly Kelly taped a message for her. Kelly said that she was on her way overseas to entertain the troops with Eve and the Big Show, and that’s the only reason why she wasn’t there tonight. She sang Naomi’s praises and told her that she was the best rookie anyone could have asked for.

WWE NXT has crowned your next breakout Diva… Kaitlyn! NXT Predictions: Who Will Win… Kaitlyn or Naomi?

We are just a few hours away from the NXT season three finale where either Kaitlyn or Naomi will be crowned the first and only female winner of the show. Who will take the crown? The DD team weigh in…

Cryssi: First of all, I can’t believe that the season is finally coming to an end tonight. It’s been a long journey but here we are. In a season that started off with a rookie’s firing, we’ve had a lot of drama to say the least. I called it the very first week that Kaitlyn would be in the finals and likely win NXT. I’m sticking with that and predicting that she will emerge victorious tonight. That said, I truly hope the WWE does the right thing and gives the victory to Naomi. It’s your opinion on who deserves it more, but Naomi wasn’t consistently given the least amount to work with and I really feel that she needs the rub of being the NXT winner. It would finally give her a storyline, something she severely lacked throughout the course of this season, and SmackDown really needs the help right now.

David: I would be much more concerned about the outcome of NXT if only the winner could get added to the main roster, but as we have seen from Seasons 1 and 2 the exposure on the show has resulted in several male wrestlers finding good storylines on television each week. I think both Kaitlyn and Naomi will be added to the roster, and hopefully AJ as well, as I think all three would add a new dynamic to the Divas division. I am not as opposed to Kaitlyn as many fellow readers; I think she has a good look and the potential to be a solid contributor. Her storyline with Vickie was effective on the show and I think she is going to win this season, not because she is the “best wrestler” (that is Naomi hands-down) but because this is about “entertainment” and she will cause a stir if she wins. Naomi is going to be fine; she’s such a good wrestler she’ll settle in nicely by putting on great matches against the current Divas. Kaitlyn will win.

NXT Redux (November 23rd, 2010): The Most Shocking Elimination Ever

Normally this space is reserved for what either previously happened on NXT or what is going to happen tonight. I have not a clue at this point which it is because our little web show that could left me truly stunned for the first time ever last night. AJ‘s elimination basically sent shockwaves through the WWE Universe and I, for one, was completely blindsided and shocking overcome with emotion. I don’t know AJ personally but her goodbye speech last night was one of the most heartfelt things I’ve ever seen in my life. She truly wanted to be part of the WWE and honestly, she deserves it. She’s stated time and time again that wrestling is her passion; that being a WWE Diva has been her dream since she was a little girl. Watching AJ walk up the ramp in tears last night and embrace Primo really did bring out my girl emotions and those emotions are overflowing right now as I relive this moment. Perhaps it’s my emo Simple Plan music playing in the background. Or maybe it’s due to the fact that I’m just highly emotional right now but AJ leaving NXT is a stunning miscarriage of justice.

Lets take a look at how the night unfolded.

In keeping with tradition, NXT opened up with Matt Striker looking flawless in the middle of the ring. He announced the rookie girls and Kaitlyn, Naomi, and AJ walked out to the ring. As they entered, each girl bent down and selected an air horn which meant that a challenge was looming on the horizon. That was indeed the case as Striker announced that WWE Trivia was about to commence. He ran down how the contest would work and told each girl in the ring that there would be no immunity tonight. Everyone would be fair game and the contest got underway. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how this went. AJ dominated the competion and basically answered every question right but one. That lone one hundred points went to Naomi. The ending tally was in AJ’s favor. She had 1300 points, while Naomi had 100, and Kaitlyn had zero. Striker announced AJ as the winner and told Kaitlyn to hang out inside the ring because she would be in action against Nikki Bella next.

NXT Redux (November 16th, 2010): What Do Jamie Keyes, Maxine and Aksana Have in Common?

Previously on NXT…
Life without Maxine for NXT as the final tried to impress the pros and WWE Universe in order to secure the votes they needed to stay in the competition. Aksana was given the chance to explain why she left Goldust at the alter, only to be interrupted by Naomi and challenged to a match later on in the evening. Tensions continued to rise between Brie Bella and Nikki Bella as Nikki squared off against AJ in a singles match. Brie’s good twin ways would eventually cost Nikki the match, something the bad twin probably wasn’t to thrilled about. As far as our love triangle goes, well Vickie Guerrero and Kaitlyn ended up in a brawl backstage and boy, was it ever rough! With an elimination hanging over the girls’ heads tonight, what will happen? Lets take a look…

We’re back to normal this week as Matt Striker successfully kicks off the show by introducing the girls. Naomi, Kaitlyn, Aksana, and AJ make their way to the ring and interestingly enough there are no pros on stage tonight. Striker says that there are only two weeks left of the competition and there will be an elimination tonight. He says that immunity is still up for grabs though and the first challenge tonight is called “How Well Do You Know Your Pro.” Basically how this works is Striker will ask a series of questions and the pros and rookies will answer. The rookies are to guess how they feel their pro will answer. The rookie who gets the most points will win the challenge. At this point, AJ and Kaitlyn are tied for immunity with one win apiece. So, Striker brings out the pros. Kelly Kelly, Vickie, Goldust, and Primo Colon enter and the contest gets underway!

The first question is, “When I first saw my rookie, I thought she was …”

The rookies fill in the blanks. AJ says “underage” and her answer matches with Primo who guesses “sixteen years old.” Aksana says “hot” which basically matches with Goldust’s answer of “sexy.” Kaitlyn said Vickie thought that she (Kaitlyn) was “so much prettier than me” and believe it or not that did not match with Vickie’s answer. She said “a man.” Naomi went last and picked the word “athletic” and that’s what Kelly thought. All rookies earned a point but Kaitlyn.

NXT Redux (November 9th, 2010): NXT Does Manchester. Rookie Girls All Make Statements In The Process.

author’s note; Apologies for the lateness of this Redux. I was asked to work at 8am yesterday morning and usually I do these things in the morning. But I ended up staying at work until close (8pm) and was just far to tired to function when all was said and done!

Previously on NXT…

The second rookie elimination of the season took place with bad girl Maxine getting the boot. The highly anticipated nuptials of Aksana and Goldust had a few glitches but in the end the couple managed to tie the knot. Too bad Aksana slapped the taste out of her new husband’s mouth when he went to kiss her. Cody Rhodes invaded the show and ended up being the kissee in a most amusing kissing contest. AJ may or may not have hinted towards feelings for her NXT mentor, Primo Colon. Kaitlyn and Dolph Ziggler were finally caught kissing, and Vickie Guerrero ended up with wedding cake all over her face.

Oh boy.

What kind of drama will enfold tonight? Grab a beer, pop some popcorn, and get your ear plugs ready. NXT is about to begin!

When NXT opens, the handsome Matt Striker is standing in the ring. He lifts the microphone to his lips to welcome the remaining four rookie girls to the show but instead, Goldust’s theme music hits and the Bizarre One walks out to the ring. No painted on tears tonight from what I can see. Goldust has the microphone and he calls out Aksana. He says that all week long, his “wife” hasn’t picked up her phone or anything, and he deserves an explanation. Goldust says it’s in Aksana’s best interest that she gets out to the ring right now. Aksana does indeed walk out and she’s got the Million Dollar Championship draped across her shoulder. She mocks Goldust by asking him if his heart is broken or something. She reveals that she used her pro to solve her immigration issues and now she has her green card and can stay in the country. Everything is all about Aksana and now she has the title. Aksana says that when she and Goldust get divorced she will own half of everything he has, including the belt and she plans on cashing in her half. That’s the American way.

I was right about Aksana. Imagine that.

Goldust calls Aksana a conniving little Lithuanian witch. He also says she is clueless and that tonight she’s not in America. She may be able to stay in the U.S.A., but he thinks it’s time to kick her butt right out of Britain. Aksana is not amused. To her surprise, Naomi walks out next. She has a microphone and she says that she doesn’t want Aksana kicked out of the country. When Goldust goes to protest, Naomi explains herself. She says she felt like Aksana was fake the entire time and she never bought the immigration story for one minute. She accuses Aksana of hatching the plan just to become the center of attention. Aksana protests the accusation and claims that she really would have gotten beat with a shovel if she would have had to return home. Naomi just doesn’t care. She says Aksana is fake and phony, and she wants to face her in a match tonight. Aksana looks at Goldust and asks him what she should do since he is her pro and all. Goldust finds that hilarious and tells Aksana to go and get her butt kicked by Naomi tonight.

Looks like we have our main event.

SmackDown Redux (November 5th, 2010): The Vickie, Dolph, and Kaitlyn Show Rolls Into SD

It’s no secret that NXT rookie Diva, Kaitlyn, has a thing for Intercontinental Champion, Dolph Ziggler, and as we found this past week on NXT, those lustful feelings and that undeniable sexual attraction is more than mutual. Kaitlyn and Dolph paint a pretty picture; they’re both hot, passionate, young. They have all the makings of a professional wrestling supercouple. Too bad there’s one giant roadblock standing in their way.

Dun…dun…duuuuuuuuun!

Dolph has a girlfriend. She is Vickie Guerrero. And Vickie, who just so happens to be Kaitlyn’s mentor on NXT, was none to happy to witness Dolph’s giant betrayal on Tuesday night. To make matters worse, the official consultant of Friday Night SmackDown ended up with cake, all over her face!

Things take a nasty turn this week as this little triangle comes to a head on SmackDown. Like sands through the hourglass….

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown kicked off in dramatic fashion for our trio. Dolph, who last won a match in God knows when, took on former tag team competitor, JTG. Interesting tidbit for all of us JTG fans: JTG and his former tag team partner, Shad Gaspard, never won the tag team titles during their tenure together.

It’s fair to say that Dolph basically dominated the match. It could even be deemed a squash. Dolph hit his finisher, the aptly titled Zig Zag, but decided to yank JTG up mid-cover. Our savvy champion didn’t just want to settle for a routine pinfall tonight. He wrapped JTG up in the most devastating of sleeper holds and pretty much sent Brooklyn native to sleep. The referee called for the bell and Ziggler was awarded a much needed victory.

NXT Redux (November 2nd, 2010): The Internet Wedding of the Century Ends With a Resounding Slap!

Previously on NXT….

The Halloween edition of NXT certainly left a positive taste in the mouths of viewers. Brie Bella and AJ put together a match that was perhaps one of the best Diva matches on television this year. Nikki Bella continued her descent into WWE heeldom much to the disgust of her twin. Maxine won a Halloween candy eating contest, while Kaitlyn took home top prize in the costume contest for her Vickie Guerrero impersonation. Was it mentioned that the sexual tension between Kaitlyn and her mentor’s boyfriend, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, reached an all-time high?? Oh, lets not forget the fact that Ted DiBiase and everyone’s favorite French-Canadian Diva, Maryse, invaded the show. They set out on a quest to get the Million Dollar Championship back from Goldust and Aksana. Aksana saved the day once again and looked amazing while doing so.

Tonight, the highly anticipated wedding between Lithuanian-born Aksana and the adorable Goldust will take place. Will Maryse and Ted show up? There’s an elimination too. Which rookie is going to be sent packing during the ninth week of competition? Lets take a look!

Note: Please excuse the audio on the videos. It looks like a production copy of the show leaked.

Striker is in the ring and he brings out the rookie girls. Kaitlyn, Maxine, Naomi, AJ, and Aksana make their way to the ring. All the girls look gorgeous tonight as they’re in street clothes which leads me to believe no one will be wrestling tonight. Striker explains to them that tonight is the elimination but adds that with three challenge wins Naomi is eligible for immunity. He also says that with the exception of Aksana, the other three girls can catch and tie Naomi. Since mathematics is not on Aksana’s side, Striker excuses her from tonight’s competitions so she can get ready for her wedding. Aksana waves, walks off, and we’re told that the first challenge tonight is a kissing contest. Striker wants a special guest judge so of course, Hornswoggle is brought out. Maxine is not happy about this but Horny, on the other hand, is overjoyed. Striker tells him that he gets to pick which Diva kisses the best.

NXT Redux (October 26th, 2010): Halloween Edition of NXT: Trick or Treat?

Previously on NXT…

Rookie Divas Maxine and Kaitlyn stunk it up in what was perhaps one of the worst matches in WWE history. Naomi swept the challenges, putting her first in line for immunity from elimination. Aksana received her engagement ring from Goldust and fawned over it, even during challenges. And last, but certainly not least, the highlight of last week’s episode was the beginning of perhaps the end of the Bella twins as Nikki Bella showed some fire (as well as major heel tendencies) during the tag team main event which pitted Nikki and Brie Bella against Naomi and her pro, Kelly Kelly.

This week can only be better, right?

Mr. Blue Eyes, Matt Striker, was waiting for us as the program began. He introduced us all to the Halloween edition of NXT and brought out the rookie Divas. They were dressed in Halloween costumes of course and kudos to them for not being so stereotypical. AJ was out first this week and she was dressed as Ninja Turtle Raphael. Naomi followed her and was dressed up as the Hamburger Helper hand. Wow. Kaitlyn is out third and she’s wearing a dead-on Vickie Guerrero costume complete with padded backside. Out fourth is Maxine and she’s playing the part of “Ice Queen” tonight. And last, but certainly not least, the future Mrs. Goldust walks out and she’s dressed in a fire engine red devil costume. The girls get in the ring and Striker lets us know that elimination is next week and that currently, Naomi is leading the pack with immunity challenge wins. He tells the girls that there is plenty of time left to catch Naomi and even pass her, and with that being said the first competition of the night is about to take place. Of course, it’s a Halloween costume contest. Each girl will have fifteen seconds to impressed the WWE Universe with her costume and the fans will be the judges.

Aksana went first. Music started to play and Aksana really did nothing but blow kisses, pose, and move around a little bit. She didn’t even dance. She probably should have just done her push-ups again. Maxine went next. Striker asked her what her costume was and she told everyone that she was an ice queen. Striker remarked that she could certainly melt that costume, and Maxine looked up at him. She said that she could melt that costume and that she could send shivers down his spine. Maxine asked Matt if he knew what cold water did to a man. She looked away from him and revealed that she would hate to embarrass him so she is going to use the rest of her time to say that there is only one place for this queen, and that place is on top.

Trick or Treat! Going Halloween Costume Shopping: NXT Edition

For the past two years around Halloween, (view 2008 and part 1, part 2, and part 3 of 2009) we’ve suggested some tongue-in-cheek costumes for Divas and Knockouts. This year, we continue the tradition, starting with the NXT Rookies. Divas and Knockouts will follow later this week, leading up to Halloween. Enjoy, and be sure to vote for your favorite below!

AJ
Costume: A jack-in-the-box toy.
Why?: AJ seems to always be bouncing. I’d say she has a spring in her step, but it would probably be more accurate to say she’s got loaded springs at the bottom of her boots. I think she jumps from excitement even when emptying the junk folder on her e-mail. So, aside from dressing her up as a kangaroo, what would be a better way to reference her apparent lack of ability to sit still than to have her made into a jack-in-the-box? She’s certainly tiny enough to be one, being pocket-sized and whatnot. And anyways, I don’t think dressing up as a grasshopper would carry the same charm.
Get the look: Learn how to make a jack-in-the-box costume of your own.

Aksana
Costume: Marlena, AKA Terri Runnels.
Why?: Aksana has become the apple of Golddust’s eye, even going so far as to become engaged to him. However, who could forget Golddust’s past love, Marlena? Always clad in gold and brandishing a cigar, Marlena was the yin to Golddust’s yang. If Aksana has any hope of filling that role convincingly, she better study up on Marlena, and dressing up as her for Halloween would be valuable research. I’m sure Golddust would appreciate the jolt of nostalgia.
Get the look: Grab some gold clothing and accessories, tease up your hair, and carry a prop cigar. Don’t forget the attitude!

Kaitlyn
Costume: Napoleon Dynamite from the movie of the same name.
Why?: Okay, so the joke’s a little late, but can you think of a costume less flattering than Napoleon Dynamite? I’m sure it would get her mentor Vickie’s seal of approval, as it wouldn’t steal the spotlight from her and further degrade her rookie. In fact, I wouldn’t put it past her forcing it on Kaitlyn in the first place–all the better to avoid Kaitlyn donning a sexier costume. Fans would definitely get a kick out of seeing Kaitlyn in glasses, red curly hair, high-wasted pants, and a blank expression. Not to mention, it’d be a nice opportunity to tell fans to “Vote for Kaitlyn” when she wears it on her shirt.
Get the look: Do it yourself.

Read on to see more costume suggestions.

NXT Redux (October 19th, 2010): Cloudy Days on NXT

Previously on NXT…

Fresh off a disaster of an elimination episode, NXT put together it’s most impressive and exciting episode yet. Naomi soared to new heights as she impressed in a match against pro Diva, Alicia Fox. Kaitlyn and Vickie Guerrero reached the point in their relationship where they reluctantly agreed to tolerate one another until the next elimination. AJ proved to everyone that she is a legit wrestling fan by dominating the “Name That Tune” challenge and Maxine continued to impress everyone with her mic skills. The icing on the proverbial NXT cake at the end of the night when Aksana lost it over her immigration woes and Goldust reiterated to her that they do indeed have options to fix these problems. He got down on one knee and popped the question, and Aksana happily accepted it.

So what happens next with the second elimination a mere two weeks away? Lets take a look…

It’s redundant that NXT always begins with Matt Striker introducing the rookies and tonight was no exception. He’s standing in the ring and introducing the rookie girls. Kaitlyn, Aksana, Naomi, AJ, and Maxine make their way to the ring where the host himself is standing. He tells the girls that they’ve made it to the halfway point of the season and that in just two weeks, the second cut will take place. He congratulates Naomi and AJ on their wins last week and tells them that they are one step closer to immunity. He starts to tell the others that they have plenty of time to catch up when Vickie decides that she wants to interrupt. She starts screaming “Excuse Me” and begins to walk down towards the ring. She tells Matt that she just can’t handle the way he talks to the rookie Divas and then she turns her attention towards Kaitlyn. Vickie wants to know why Kaitlyn is dressed the way she is and basically, Vickie does not approve.

Maxine Comments on Last Night’s NXT Match

NXT Rookie Diva, Maxine took to her Twitter page earlier today commenting on her match with Kaitlyn last night on NXT. NXT Redux (October 12th, 2010): Thank You Christopher Columbus for Discovering America and Giving Us NXT

Previously on NXT…

The first elimination of the season took place and perhaps the most well known rookie girl, Jamie, was sent packing. Her send-off from the show was filled with dignity and class, and well wishes for the remaining five. Aksana‘s immigration woes took a turn for the worse when it was revealed that she had four weeks to clear up her issues or she would be deported. Maxine took a horrible bump in the ring that may or may not keep her sidelined with a neck issue. And finally, the Kaitlyn/Dolph/Vickie Guerrero love triangle came to a head when Kaitlyn defeated Vickie in a one-on-one match.

How will tonight’s episode play out? Keep watching and find out!

As per usual, the gorgeous Matt Striker is the first person we see when NXT begins. He announces the girls and out comes Maxine, Aksana, Kaitlyn, AJ, and Naomi. They get in the ring and for some reason all of them have air horns in their hands. Striker tells them that the next elimination is three weeks away and as far as challenges go, the slate has been wiped clean. Everyone starts from scratch tonight and the first competition of the evening is going to be Name That Tune. For the first round, thirty seconds of a WWE Superstar theme will play and the first girl to sound their horn will get a chance to answer. In the second round, the points will be doubled.

This competition isn’t really a competition to be honest. AJ basically gets every single theme song right but one. All the other girls stand there and look dumbfounded and AJ even seems a bit embarrassed that she knows every single answer. She scores 1900 out of a possible 2000, with Naomi getting 100 points for an earlier answer. Needless to say, AJ picks up her first challenge win. Striker announces that up next is a rookie versus pro match, with Naomi taking on former Diva’s Champion, Alicia Fox. The show fades to a promo for Chris Jericho’s new DVD.

WWE Reportedly High on Two NXT Rookies

WWE are reportedly backing Kaitlyn and Naomi on the current season of WWE NXT, according to the latest issue of Figure Four Weekly. Kaitlyn, who has been one of WWE’s favorites since the season began, is said to have impressed management in her match with Vickie Guerrero last week. Meanwhile, Naomi, who was the early … Read more

NXT Redux (October 5th, 2010): Jamie Says Goodbye While Aksana Shines

Five weeks of build, anticipation, heart break, and horror culminated last night in the very first elimination for season three of NXT. One poor girl would have her dreams shattered as she is sent packing back to Tampa. Also this week, the Aksana/Goludst angle heats up as an immigration officer rears his ugly head (literally… he has an ugly head) and threatens our favorite Lithuanian. The Rookie Divas try their best to master the art of faux bull riding and of course, a Diva talent show takes place.

Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuun!

This surely gets redundant but once again NXT (now exclusively on WWE.com) kicks off in grandiose fashion with Matt Striker announcing the rookie Divas. Naomi, Aksana, AJ, Jamie, Maxine, and Kaitlyn make their way onto the stage where the Pros (including Alicia Fox, Vickie Guerrero, Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella, and Nikki Bella) are already sitting. Striker teases the girls that this is the biggest night of their young careers. He explains how things are going to work tonight and then brings us into our first rookie challenge of the evening.

It’s a bull riding competition complete with mechanical bull.

NXT Redux (September 28th, 2010): The Most Ridiculously Pointless Episode of NXT Ever!

Previously on NXT…

Lay-Cool paid a visit to their old stomping grounds and literally stomped the crap right out of Kaitlyn. AJ continued to roll and secure her status as fan favorite of season three. Naomi gave us all hope that the Diva future is bright when she squared off against Michelle McCool as part of the six-woman tag team match main event. Kelly Kelly went ghetto when she stepped up and challenged Lay-Cool on behalf of Naomi and Jamie. Aksana revealed a huge secret to Goldust about how good her chances were of being deported and how she would get beat with a shovel if she returned home. And the best part of the show, CM Punk stepped up and blessed the WWE Universe with his brilliant commentary.

Will these storylines continue? And more importantly, will Punk keep his promise to remain on commentary?

This week NXT begins in it’s typical fashion. The four pros in attendance (Vickie Guerrero, Alicia Fox, Primo Colon, and Kelly Kelly) are sitting on the stage and the handsome Matt Striker (dressed in an amazing Argyle pullover sweater) introduces the rookies. Aksana, AJ, Kaitlyn, Jamie, Naomi, and Maxine make their way out and Striker says that the competition is now starting to heat up. He announces that Wednesday, starting at noon, the WWE Universe can vote along with the pros for their favorite rookie Diva. Striker makes his way down the ramp while speaking and tells us that being a WWE Diva means you have to have athleticism. He stops in front of a shiny, red wheelbarrow.

Each Diva has to take the wheelbarrow and run around the ring. Whichever Diva has the fastest time will win the competition. The rookie Diva with the most challenge wins will have immunity from next week’s elimination. Maxine is called to the starting line first. She gets ready to take off but that naughty tease in the argyle suggests that the wheelbarrow should have something in it. He takes a shot at Michael Cole in the process.

NXT Redux (September 21st, 2010): The Most Ridiculously Awesome Episode of NXT Ever

Last week on NXT, Jamie Keyes and Kaitlyn secured their statuses as NXT winner worthy. Jamie shined in the ring and on the mic, and Kaitlyn came off as a homewrecker who could kick some ass and do an obstacle course. You gotta love this show. This week, we were treated (or not) to a game of musical chairs, a Talk the Talk challenge, two matches, and of course, the goddess-like presence of the self-proclaimed co-Unified Divas Champions, Michelle McCool and Layla. How did the show play out? Well lets take a look!

Josh Matthews is seen at the broadcast booth all by his lonesome when NXT starts tonight. Michael Cole left the show last week and everyone rejoiced. Matthews says we can take our televisions off mute tonight. The theme music of CM Punk (which I like to sing every morning on my way to school) starts to play and he walks out in his ring gear and this hideous brown jacket. He walks to the broadcast table, tells Josh to shut up, and announces himself as Cole’s replacement. He tears up Josh’s autograph picture and says that he loves women, then throws it up to our blue eyed host, Matt Striker. Striker introduces the rookie Divas: Kaitlyn, Maxine, Aksana, AJ Lee, Naomi, and Jamie Keyes.

CM Punk: “I thought she won NXT season two…my bad. I thought she was Kaval.”

Tonight is going to be epic.

NXT Redux (September 14th, 2010): Knock Knock. Who’s There? Jamie. Jamie Who? Jamie Keyes, Your Next WWE Diva?

Last week during the season premiere of NXT, we were treated to a dominating performance by Naomi, a pretty decent performance by AJ Lee, and a dance contest. As seen on Monday Night Raw, dancing skills are must haves for all potential Divas! This week, the Divas got a chance to prove that they have a sense of humor by competing in an exhilarating joke telling contest. We also got two matches. Lots going on so lets get started.

NXT did NOT kicked off in its usual fashion with Matt Striker announcing the pros and rookies. Vickie Guerrero started us off tonight and she came out screaming “excuse me.” She said Kaitlyn embarrassed her last week so she decided to bring someone out this week that would make her proud. She announced her boyfriend, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler. Dolph, Vickie, and Kaitlyn make their way to the ring while a package of Vickie getting punked by AJ played. Zolph got ready for ring action and then helped Kaitlyn in the ring. Their opponents are AJ and Primo Colon.

Dolph and Primo begin the match and the guys start jockeying for position. Dolph struck Primo and Primo replied with a dropkick. Dolph didn’t appreciate that and he tagged in Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn didn’t seem to happy but she got in there anyway. As the rules of a mixed tag go, AJ had to come in. So she did.

Kaitlyn taunted AJ for a second and the Jersey girl wasn’t impressed. She motioned for Kaitlyn to come on, so they locked up. AJ got Kaitlyn around the midsection and ended up getting in her a quick pinning combination. Kaitlyn powered out. AJ applied a side headlock to Kaitlyn and the greenest rookie of them all tried to power out of it. AJ held firm until Kaitlyn was finally able to force the smaller woman into the ropes and knock her down with a clothesline. With AJ down, Kaitlyn decided to be smart and step across AJ’s midsection. She tried to pick “Pocket Rocket” up by the hair, but AJ responded with a kick to the skull and got up. Kaitlyn came rearing back but AJ pancaked her with a kick to the gut. AJ continued her onslaught with forearms to the face and a kick, before running to the ropes and flying at Kaitlyn with a crossbody. Kaitlyn caught her like she was supposed too (and set it up so we could see how choreographed it was, haha) and fell back, with allowed AJ to hook the leg and try for a pin. Kaitlyn kicked out, got to her feet, and snapped AJ in half with a clothesline. She made the tag to Dolph.
