Update on Sonya Deville’s possible return to the ring

Sonya Deville has been thriving in an authority role on both SmackDown and RAW. Deville made her return to WWE to kick off the new year on the Jan. 1 episode of SmackDown.

Her absence from WWE programming started at SummerSlam in August when she lost in a Loser Leave WWE match against Mandy Rose. She was hitting her stride just as she had to take time away from the company.

Since Deville’s return, she has been in charge of many decisions across the main roster. These decisions have included helping out Charlotte Flair get reinstated in a storyline and she has been the driving force for building this year’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

So when will Sonya return to the ring?

According to a report from Fightful Select, she could be headed back to compete in the squared circle very soon. WWE sources have told Fightful that Deville is expected to return to the ring soon as long as everything goes according to plan and this is at least the indication given to creative.

Deville has been training for an in-ring return, which hasn’t been kept a secret, however, she has maintained in interviews that she is content with her current authoritative role. Those within WWE that Fightful has spoken to have had a glowing review of Sonya and how she has handled the last year and the way she has worked in her current role.

There has been a significant push to have her involved in the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. And at least at one point, she was penciled in for the match.

There is one spot left for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match after Deville herself declared today that Natalya will take the seventh spot. The eighth and last spot has had fans hoping for it to be either Deville or possibly a returning Sasha Bank.

Gigi Dolin steps up to challenge Sarray on NXT

0

NXT has a doozy of a match set for tomorrow’s episode as Gigi Dolin stepped up to take on Sarray.

Sarray challenged Toni Storm for a match but the Aussie denied her request believing Sarray was not on her level.

During an interview with WWE digital Sarray stated that despite Storm’s refusal she still wanted to face her in the future. Dolin then interrupted to offer her own challenge to Sarray, who gladly accepted.

The match will be Dolin’s first singles match in NXT. Her only matches thus far are tag team bouts. The first was her debut in the women’s Dusty Classic. She teamed with fellow newcomer Cora Jade in a losing effort against The Way’s Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell.

Dolin then teamed with another newcomer Zayda Ramier two months later to face The Way once again.

Sarray is undefeated since her debut victory over Zoey Stark in April. So Dolin will have her work cut for her.

What do you make of the match? Let us know in the comments below.

RAW Discussion Post: 07.12.21

Welcome to the final RAW before Money in the Bank and the last time we see the Thunderdome as WWE goes back on the road this week. This show was pre-taped.

WWE announced today via Sonya Deville that Natalya has joined the upcoming Money in the Bank Ladder Match that will take place this Sunday on July 18. This leaves just one spot left in the eight-woman match. She joins Zelina Vega and Liv Morgan from the blue brand along with the four women from RAW – Naomi, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Cross.

The four women from the RAW roster will battle it out tonight in a Fatal 4-Way match.

Elsewhere on RAW, Rhea Ripley will once again defend her RAW Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair this Sunday. Ripley has held the title since defeating Asuka at WrestleMania and has successfully defended it on two pay-per-views since. At Hell in a Cell last month, she caused her own disqualification against Flair to make sure she didn’t lose her title.

Eva Marie and Doudrop weren’t able to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but that hasn’t stopped Eva from taking the credit for all the wins that have been listed under her name since her return. Last week during the eight-woman tag team match, Nia Jax got the pin for her team and Eva continued to call herself and herself only the winner.

As always, feel free to discuss tonight’s episode in the comment section below.

Natalya announced as seventh contestant for women’s Money in the Bank

0

One-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natayla is the seventh competitor in the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

The WWE legend was added to the match by Sonya Deville and will take on Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Liv Morgan, Nikki Cross/ASH and Zelina Vega who will battle it out to become Ms Money in the Bank.

The announcement came from Deville via Twitter and read;

With all the changes and challengers for #MITB and #Smackdown, I will be the one to establish some consistency for this Sunday and there is NO ONE more consistent than 1/2 of our @WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions… @natbynature. Nattie, welcome to the MITB Ladder Match!”

Deville has played a huge role in the women’s MITB match thus far. She inserted former MITB winner Carmella and the returning Vega into the match. The following week she removed Carmella and added Morgan. Carmella was removed to replace the injured Bayley as Bianca Belair‘s challenger for SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Natalya has competed in all women’s MITB matches except last year’s event. She will no doubt be looking to add Ms Money in the Bank to her list of accomplishments.

There is one place remaining in the women’s MITB. RAW and SmackDown are still to take place prior to the event that takes place this Sunday, July 18. So we could be in for one more surprise.

Money in the Bank is the first WWE event to take place before a capacity crowd since March 2020. The show takes place this Sunday from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

What do you make of Natalya being a part of the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match? Sound off in the comments below.

Chelsea Green debuts with Ring of Honor; Women’s Championship Tournament brackets revealed

Chelsea Green has made her debut with Ring of Honor.

Green made her debut with the promotion during tonight’s Best in the World event. During the event, Maria Kanellis Bennett announced the brackets for the Quest for Gold Women’s Title Tournament. Since the end of April, Kanellis Bennett has been scouting women for the promotion in order to rebuild its women’s division and crown a brand new ROH Women’s World Champion.

You can view the first-round brackets below:

Green came out during the bracket announcement to say she was there to watch the competition. She wanted to come and participate, bad arm and all, but she was told by the Maryland Athletic Commission that she wasn’t deemed to compete.

She explains that she will be ringside during each and every match – watching and studying. When she can get back in the ring she is going to show the entire world what she can do. She says that she is unstoppable and she deserves to hold the ROH Women’s World Title over her head. In one month, when she is healed and stronger than ever, she will join the ROH women and take the division to another level.

In a report from Fightful Select, they further discuss this appearance by Green. They have learned some information on her involvement with the promotion. The agreement was put into place over a month ago and she had to get WWE clearance to make an appearance prior to her 90-day non-compete clause was up. Which for her now is in a few days. Green was released by WWE on April 15.

She is set to appear on future ROH tapings in a commentary position [presumably while unable to compete] and Fightful has been told she does not have a contract with the company at this time.

What are your thoughts on Green appearing in ROH? How do the first-round brackets look? Join the discussion below.

Naomi receives messages of support after deactivating Twitter account

0

Naomi has deactivated her Twitter after falling victim to a torrent of online abuse following her husband Jimmy Uso’s recent DUI.

Uso was arrested last week for another DUI, which led to a vocal minority of idiot Twitter users sending abusive messages to her.

Since Naomi deactivated her account, fellow WWE Superstars have come out to support the former two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Zelina Vega, who recently returned to WWE, sent Naomi a message of solidarity.

Mia Yim and Cedric Alexander also sent her support via Twitter messages.

Noami is set to compete against seven other women in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match on July 18 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

All at Diva Dirt send Naomi our best wishes and support.

SHIMMER talents make an appearance at MLW event

Over the weekend, MLW taped its Battle Riot III event. At this event, fans started seeing the new partnership MLW has with the founder of SHIMMER, Dave Prazak. Just days ago, MLW unveiled some huge news that they will be launching a women’s division and it will be spearheaded by the SHIMMER founder.

On Saturday, two matches were part of the taping that involved four women. Willow Nightingale took on Ashley Vox while Brittany Blake took on Delmi Exo. While Willow got the win over Vox, Exo was able to defeat Blake.

The Sea Stars (Vox & Exo) have been rising up throughout the indie scene as of late and have also made appearances for AEW and IMPACT Wrestling this year. They are the current SHIMMER Tag Team Champions and have held the titles since defeating Cheerleader Melissa & Mercedes Martinez in November 2019. SHIMMER’s last event in October 2020 saw the Sea Stars defend and retain against Allysin Kay & Marti Belle. Both Nightingale and Blake also participated in that event.

Nightingale has been seen more frequently as of late. She has appeared for AEW on Dark & Elevation and is partaking in the upcoming Quest for Gold Tournament to crown a new ROH Women’s World Champion. As for Blake, her last match was at a SHINE event in June.

This show will air on July 24 on beIN Sports.

Check back in with Diva Dirt as we start to see more women appear for the MLW promotion.

Bianca Belair & Sasha Banks win an ESPY award for their WrestleMania match

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and “The Boss” Sasha Banks are now ESPY award winners. In the category of WWE Moment of the Year, their WrestleMania main event match took the prize. The award was fan voted.

https://twitter.com/WWE/status/1414043873492484099?s=20

There were four nominees for this award and Belair herself was nominated twice in the category. Her second nomination was for winning the Royal Rumble and holding the longest time in a women’s Rumble Match. They were up against Edge winning the men’s Royal Rumble match (becoming the third person ever to do so from the number one position) and Bad Bunny teaming with Damian Priest at WrestleMania.

Both of the women’s nominations made history this year. Belair became the first African American female to win a Royal Rumble Match. As for the main event with Belair and Banks, this was the first time two African American women fought for a title at WrestleMania as well as main-evented.

Both Superstars had many photos taken during the event and on the red carpet. Belair posted on her Twitter account that she made her dress for the night just as she is known for making her wrestling gears.

In 2019, Becky Lynch was nominated for winning the first-ever women’s main event at WrestleMania capturing both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Titles. Ronda Rousey was also nominated for winning the RAW Women’s Title at SummerSlam. Roman Reigns took the honor that year for returning to the ring after a recurrence of leukemia.

Congratulations to both Bianca and Sasha for their well-deserved win.

Bayley says a fond goodbye to the WWE ThunderDome

0

WWE is moving out of the ThunderDome after a near 12-month residency. The last set of tapings took place this week before the promotion go back on the road starting July 16 in Houston, Texas.

Bayley took to Twitter to commemorate the time she spent at the WWE ThunderDome.

Here’s what the former SmackDown Women’s Champion wrote;

Tons of championship matches, multiple tag team matches, so much yelling at Cole, contract signings, 2 Hell in a Cell matches, frustration, wins, losses, tears, endless memories for the past 15 months. So….What’s another 9?Goodbye PC/Pandemic/Thunderdome Era

Bayley is one of the MVPs of the “Pandemic-Era”. Along with Sasha Banks she ruled the wrestling world in the throes of the pandemic. As the ‘Golden Role Models” they ran WWE across all three bands capturing all women’s titles on the main roster.

The ‘Role Model’ was set to challenge Bianca Belair for the SmackDown women’s title at WWE’s first fully fan attended show in 15 months. However, in a cruel twist of irony, she tore her ACL in a training session that will keep her out for 9 months.

Allysin Kay dethrones Kris Statlander to become AAW Women’s Champion at United We Stand

On Friday, Allysin Kay became the new AAW Women’s Champion for the AAW Wrestling promotion at its United We Stand event. She defeated Kris Statlander who held the title since December 2019 when she won the belt from Jessicka Havok.

For those that may be unfamiliar with the AAW promotion they are based out of the state of Illinois and opened their doors in 2004. A women’s title was introduced in 2017 and with Kay being champion, five different women have held it. Havok was the inaugural champion and has held the title twice. Other than Statlander, Kimber Lee and Kylie Rae has also held the gold.

Kay is looking to add another title to her extensive resume as she is about to take part in the Quest for Gold Tournament for Ring of Honor.

These two ladies weren’t the only ones to tear down the roof at United We Stand. There was a highly competitive “I Quit” Match between Skye Blue and Hyan. Blue was able to make Hyan utter those two words and won this bout.

Updated report on Deonna Purrazzo’s mystery opponent for Slammiversary

Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo is set to defend her title at Slammiversary on July 17. But who is her opponent?

Note: This article contains possible spoilers.

Former seven-time Knockouts Champion and IMPACT producer Gail Kim made a face-to-face announcement on this past week’s IMPACT! that Purrazzo will not find out her opponent until the day of the show. It is a mystery. This has caused a lot of speculation on who it could potentially be.

With a few names that were released by WWE in April ending their 90-day non-compete clause, those names are on the top of the list. Chelsea Green, Mickie James, Cassie Lee, and Jessica McKay (The IIconics) are the four that would be included in the conversation. Another name that fans are speculating is Ruby Soho (formerly-Ruby Riott). Unlike the names previously mentioned, Ruby was released from WWE on June 2.

In a report from Fightful Select, they shut down the idea that Ruby could be Purrazzo’s mystery opponent. They haven’t heard the details of her non-compete clause, but they haven’t heard of any bookings for her publicly. What they have heard, which is good news, is that the mystery opponent is someone who is currently not on the IMPACT Wrestling roster.

So with that last statement, it can be determined that the reemergence of Su Yung nor the missing in action Taylor Wilde, will be Purrazzo’s opponent at the time of this writing.

Check back in with Diva Dirt for all news/rumors for Slammiversary.

Yuka Sakazaki in action on AEW Dark: Elevation

Yuka Sakazaki makes her return to the AEW ring for the first time in five months.

Last month Tokyo Joshi Pro announced the ‘Magical Girl’ was returning stateside to return to AEW.

Her comeback match takes place on the first-ever edition of Dark: Elevation outside of Daily’s Place. The matches were filmed before Dynamite: Road Rager at James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida last week.

Sakazaki’s opponent is AEW Dark regular, KiLynn King.

The show also features a stacked card with several top names in action. Former Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida takes on newcomer Julia Hart.

Former NWA World Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa takes on Dreamgirl Ellie who returns to the promotion for her third time.

Amber Nova also returns to the company to challenge the first-ever AEW women’s champion Riho.

Tay Conti faces debutant Labrava and finally, Red Velvet takes on Leila Grey.

What do you make of the card? Sound off in the comments below.

Stay tuned to Diva Dirt for all of your news, reviews and updates from the world of women’s wrestling.

Liv Morgan added to MITB; Carmella now facing Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Title on July 16

Bayley‘s injury that was reported earlier on Friday shook the SmackDown women’s division and put a wrench into the Money in the Bank plans. Bayley was set to face Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Champion at the July 18 event but due to an ACL injury during training, she is now out of action for at least nine months.

WWE Authority Sonya Deville had to find a suitable replacement for Bayley now that she is unable to compete. Prior to Deville making her announcement, Bayley had some words to give to the WWE audience.

Now, what happens with the SmackDown Women’s Title match? It is no longer on the Money in the Bank card but will be on the July 16 episode of SmackDown, the first show back with a live crowd. Belair will be facing and defending her title against a former SmackDown Women’s Champion and two-time Money in the Bank winner – Carmella.

The most beautiful woman in all of WWE will have the chance to become a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion which means she will no longer be in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Before Deville could announce that last part, an irate Liv Morgan made her way to the ring. She was tired of seeing Carmella getting handing opportunities while she herself has earned them.

Deville then snapped back at her letting her know she should have let her finish. Because Carmella has been pulled from the MITB match, Morgan is now in. As Morgan leaves with a smile on her face, she says she hopes Carmella defeats Belair so that she can win the briefcase and cash in on her.

This of course caught the eye of Bianca Belair. She says that she will gladly take Carmella as her challenger. She sends a message to Bayley saying she looks forward to finishing their feud when she comes back.

The Money in the Bank Ladder Match participants is now: Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Naomi, Nikki Cross, Zelina Vega, Liv Morgan, and two more women to be announced.

Check out what else happened on SmackDown with the debut of Shotzi & Nox by clicking here.

Check back in with Diva Dirt as we update you on all the news for Money in the Bank and the women of the SmackDown division.

Shotzi & Nox make their official SmackDown debut; Toni Storm coming soon to the blue brand

Now dubbed as Shotzi & Nox, Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox have officially made their debut on SmackDown. They faced the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina in a non-title match.

Nox just made her return to NXT this past Tuesday after being out action for nearly a year. Sidelined with her third ACL tear, Nox was written off NXT television after she was attacked backstage by Candice LeRae. Nox distracted LeRae during her and Indi Hartwell’s NXT Women’s Tag Team defense which resulted in a title change. Io Shirai and Zoey Stark became the new champions.

As for Shotzi, she was in a well-established tag team with Ember Moon. The duo were former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions and had a rivalry with Dakota Kai and NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez. Shotzi is now with Nox as Moon is staying in NXT. Moon took to Twitter to congratulate her now former tag team partner.

As for the match between the debuting team and the tag team champions, Shotzi picks up a huge win for her team after pinning the veteran Natalya. With the lack of tag teams on the main roster (mostly as a result of the WWE releases), this is a good start.

Shotzi and Nox aren’t the only call-ups coming. A vignette aired for the former NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm. Storm has worked a dark match with Nox recently and along with Shotzi and Scarlett have been rumored to be moved to the roster. There is no further news on Scarlett at this time.

SmackDown Discussion Post: 07.09.21

Money in the Bank is a week from this Sunday on July 18 and WWE dropped some major news earlier today. News that no one expected to hear, Bayley will no longer be competing at Money in the Bank due to injury and will be out for approximately nine months. She was scheduled to possibly end her feud with Bianca Belair over the SmackDown Women’s Championship in an “I Quit” Match.

From the announcement by WWE, they state that we will find out tonight who will now challenge Belair for the title at Money in the Bank. WWE Authority Sonya Deville will make the decision tonight.

Moving on to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match itself. We have six out of the eight women confirmed – four from RAW (Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Naomi, Nikki Cross), and two from SmackDown (Carmella, Zelina Vega). Liv Morgan has been on a mission to prove to Deville that she needs to be in the match. Morgan holds two victories over Carmella and last week’s win over Zelina. What more does she have to do to prove her place tonight? Looks like Deville has a busy night on her hands.

The Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina are present for SmackDown as well, will we see them tonight?

As always, feel free to join the discussion below. :)

Update on Bayley’s injury, including backstage reaction

WWE broke the sad news just hours ago that Bayley will be out of action for approximately nine months due to an injury.

As a result, she is unable to compete at Money in the Bank and challenge Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. That match was planned as an “I Quit” Match. Belair will receive a new opponent that will be announced on tonight’s SmackDown.

Fightful Select is reporting a lot of insight on what happened to Bayley. From the people they have spoken to in WWE, Bayley was training at the Performance Center with another Superstar this week. During the training her “knee popped” and it has been concluded that it is her ACL. This isn’t officially from WWE or Bayley herself, just what Fightful has found out from speaking to staff and talent. The injury is being categorized as a “freak accident.”

From what has transpired and as of Friday afternoon, they have heard that her injury may have caused plans to change for incoming talent. Two talents on the SmackDown roster reportedly were openly frustrated that the company’s lack of depth left them scrambling to find an appropriate replacement, with one saying “they did it to themselves.”

This was said before acknowledging that Bayley helped carry the company during difficult times especially since the start of the pandemic. She has always been regarded as easy to work with even when so much extra has been asked of her.

Bayley’s injury, although common, has hit fans and fellow talent hard. She has been the glue that has held WWE programming together recently and has been one hell of a work horse. Below are just some of the social media messages people have left:

WrestleVotes tweeted out in the past hour alluding to a call up being made to SmackDown. Although they kept the post open for interpretation one can assume this will possibly be Bayley’s replacement or perhaps an additional member(s) on the blue brands roster in general.

Diva Dirt once again sends out our heartfelt well wishes to Bayley. May she heal up quickly and safely and return to continue as our Role Model. ?

Bayley out for approximately nine months with injury, Belair to receive new challenger for Money in the Bank

WWE has officially announced that Bayley has sustained an injury while training for her upcoming Money in the Bank match.

She was scheduled to take part in an “I Quit” Match against SmackDown Women’s Bianca Belair. A replacement for Bayley in the match against Belair will be announced tonight on SmackDown. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed at this time.

WWE.com states:

WWE Digital has learned that Bayley sustained an injury while training for her WWE Money in the Bank match against Bianca Belair and will be out approximately nine months.

A suitable replacement for the SmackDown Women’s Title Match will be announced tonight on FOX.

Bayley and Belair have been in a heated rivalry for a number of months ever since Belair won the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania in April. Belair has been besting Bayley during their encounters and defeated her at WrestleMania Backlash and last month inside Hell in a Cell. Bayley pinned the champ in a recently Mixed Tag Team Match which led up to the “I Quit” Match stipulation that was planned for Money in the Bank.

Diva Dirt sends its best wishes to Bayley and hopes she heals up soon.

Check back in with Diva Dirt tonight for a SmackDown Discussion Post and join in on the discussion to find out who will replace Bayley in that match as well as how the rest of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match will shape up.

Deonna Purrazzo to defend her Knockouts Title against a Mystery Opponent at Slammiversary

After Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo successfully defended her championship in an open challenge to a debuting Lady Frost, she declared that she didn’t even need to know who her opponent will be at Slammiversary. IMPACT Hall of Famer and seven-time Knockouts Champion Gail Kim then joined her in the ring.

Although Purrazzo complimented Kim she also didn’t take too kindly that she interrupted her. She went on to say that she was going to accept the match that Kim was about to disclose to her thinking that she was going to face the legend herself. Kim then confirmed she is retired from the ring but let Purrazzo know that since the champion doesn’t need to know who her opponent is to defeat them, her opponent at Slammiversary is – a mystery.

The champion will find out who her opponent will be at the event. Kim tells her that she better prepare for the fight of her life.

With speculation already swirling on who Purrazzo’s opponent may be, she is not the only one who has to defend her title at the upcoming big event. The Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire ‘N Flava will have to defend against Havok & Rosemary.

Havok & Rosemary earned their title match by defeating Kimber Lee and Susan on this week’s IMPACT. After Havok neutralized Susan, Rosemary hit a spear to get the pin and the victory for their team. In preparation for their tag team title shot, Havok will take on Tasha Steelz next week one-on-one.

Kimber had no choice but to consult Father James Mitchell after the match. She is tired of losing and now that Purrazzo has kicked her and Susan to the curb she is getting desperate. She has to go to her backup plan. She needs Su Yung back.

Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb with a K guested another All About Me. A show where whoever is invited on becomes the host and has to ask Dashwood a question. With Jazz appearing on this week’s show, Dashwood is upset that she has spent the entire year so far trying to get a tag team partner to win the Knockouts Tag Team Titles.

She has spent all this time and effort and feels that it isn’t her fault that everyone she has tried to team with ends up being the issue. Finally, she thought she had the perfect partner in Rachael Ellering (who is Jordynne Grace‘s partner) because they had instant chemistry and she blames Jazz for messing things up. Jazz brought in Ellering to be Grace’s partner and played the peacemaker between the two when things were rocky.

The segment got intense and when Jazz thought that she was done with Dashwood, she was attacked from behind being thrown right into the camera. Moments later, Grace and Ellering found their friend laid out on the ground. They helped Jazz up and the duo is far from pleased. They cut a promo later saying that they are coming for Dashwood and Kaleb and a match is set between the two teams next week.

What did you think of this week’s IMPACT? Who do you think will be Deonna’s opponent? Will Havok & Rosemary become new tag champs? Join the discussion below!

Dani Jordyn is The Real Mean Girl With a Bright Future

Back in June, Sarah Hirsch along with her business partner Tina Miller got the opportunity to interview The Real Mean Girl Dani Jordyn for their podcast, Peaches and Powerbombs

From the podcast, Sarah & Tina learned how Jordyn got her start in wrestling and got to know her thought process about her involvement with it.  Wrestling all over Georgia and other places in addition to AEW, it was interesting to see how Jordyn is taking it all in and applying what she learned in AEW to her career.

Perhaps fans have seen Jordyn before, most notably on AEW programming (Dynamite, Dark, Dark Elevation).  Jordyn’s character is “The Real Mean Girl”, a play on the movie “Mean Girls”.  Jordyn is notorious for her prop the “Burn Book”,  which is an attempt to taunt her opponents before a match.  Jordyn relies on the mental aspect to gain an advantage.

The Burn Book isn’t the only thing that Jordyn has under her sleeve.  Jordyn also has a good skill set in attempts to get the better of her opponent.  One notable move she does is the DDT she performs from the middle rope.  It is one of her signature moves that is yet to be named.

Perhaps AEW fans are scratching their heads as to why I say that, well here is a fun factor:  Jordyn has been Georgia’s Women’s Wrestler of the Year three years in a row.

With an accolade such as that, it’s no wonder Jordyn finds herself working with the amazing talent in AEW.  Facing the likes of former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida, Jade Cargill, and Red Velvet are all great opponents Jordyn can put on her resume.

Of course, with an influx of young and older talent backstage, she is also able to get some incredible advice from the likes of Dustin Rhodes and Chris Jericho to name a few.  Those opportunities are paying off as Jordyn continues to leave an impression in the growing popularity that is women’s wrestling.

Dani Jordyn
Credit: @DaniJordyn

Having an opportunity in the AEW Women’s Division as an enhancement talent is something Jordyn understands as she works on her own ring skills.  As told to Peaches and Powerbombs, Jordyn’s goal in the ring is to hopefully be able to grab fans’ attention to draw them in.  With bright pink gear, a prop that gives The List a run for its money, and good wrestling Jordyn has a great starter pack.

Outside of AEW, Jordyn recently won the Intense Wrestling Entertainment Women’s Championship and reminds fans every single day on her social media pages.  She continues to wreak havoc in Georgia’s Southern Honor Wrestling, and will make an appearance for WrestleMerica this coming weekend.  It’s full speed ahead for this Real Mean Girl, and soon enough she will reach even greater heights.

Lady Frost makes her IMPACT in-ring debut

Lady Frost coming from “somewhere cold” has made her IMPACT debut.

Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo made an open challenge with her title on the line for this week’s IMPACT just nine days before Slammiversary. Lady Frost answered the challenge.

With Lady Frost holding her own, she delivered a spinning roundhouse kick before going up top. She executed a beautiful moonsault but was unable to connect and tweaked her ankle in the process.

Purrazzo capitalizes with a couple of kicks to the face and drove her challenger into the mat. Instead of getting the three count, she pulled up Frost at the count of two toying with her for just a moment. She then locked in the armbar causing Frost to tap and Purrazzo retains her title.

Lady Frost has done recent work with both AEW and NWA. She has faced the likes of Red Velvet, Taryn Terrell, and Jennacide. She has also appeared for WWE in 2018 on RAW in a match against Asuka under the name Jamie Frost.

What did you make of Lady Frost’s debut? Would you like to see her more in IMPACT? Join the discussion below!

Holidead and Marti Belle added to ROH’s Quest For Gold Tournament

ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis Bennett took to the company’s YouTube channel to hand out two more tickets to gold. ROH is just about to announce the brackets of the Quest for Gold Women’s Title Tournament, which we finally now know is set to kick off in three weeks. The brackets will be revealed this Sunday at Best in the World.

The two women who just received their tickets are Holidead and Marti Belle. Both names are popular on the indie scene and have appeared with major promotions. Holidead was recently seen on AEW Dark in a match against Nyla Rose. She has worked for many promotions including ROH and is a former SHINE Tag Team Champion with Thunder Rosa.

Belle has also worked with many promotions and is most known for time with IMPACT Wrestling as a member of the Dollhouse with Taryn Terrell and Jade (Mia Yim). She participated in WWE’s Mae Young Classic and she is a two-time SHINE Tag Team Champion with Jayme Jameson. Other than with SHINE she was recently with NWA until November.

With the addition of these two competitors, they join the list for the tournament as follows:

Vita VonStarr was originally scheduled to be in the tournament but the stipulation was she would no longer interfere in the men’s matches. She could not keep to that promise and Maria removed her from the tournament. Allie Recks was offered a ticket to gold but was unable to accept it at this time due to injury to her knee.

With this list, there is one spot left. It was recently announced that Quinn McKay will receive another shot at gold. She will be facing Mandy Leon in under two weeks to see if she can earn her spot.

The winner of the Quest For Gold Tournament will become the new ROH Women’s World Champion with a new lineage. The prior title was deactivated in 2020 after former champion Kelly Klein‘s contract was not renewed.

Slammiversary is already one week from this Saturday on July 17 and we have yet to hear of any Knockouts matches announced for the event. Hopefully, we see some announcements for the big event come from tonight’s episode of IMPACT!

A match advertised tonight will possibly determine who faces the Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire ‘N Flava at Slammiversary. Havok and Rosemary are out to prove that they should get a championship opportunity after recently becoming a formidable tag team. They face Kimber Lee and Susan tonight. Last week, Lee said if all else fails she has a backup plan to win…Su Yung.

As for the championship picture, Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo still doesn’t have an opponent for Slammiversary. She has done away with Kimber and Susan so who will step up to her now that she goes at it alone? She has gone through the Knockouts roster already since becoming a two-time champion. Who is next?

Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering seem to be back on the same page. At least from last week as Grace came to help out Ellering and Jazz in their battle with Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb with a K. Are we moving forward with Grace & Ellering still a team or is this just a facade by Grace? Or is it Ellering that may be at her breaking point?

Blair Davenport debuts on NXT UK

NXT UK’s latest newcomer Blair Davenport made her impressive debut on this week’s edition of the NXT UK.

The artist formerly known as Bea Priestley confirmed her arrival in NXT UK in a video package aired that last week.

She made her presence felt instantly in the women’s division with a victory in her first match in the red and black brand. Her first opponent Laura Di Matteo was no match for the debutant.

The match existed only to showcase Davenport’s viciousness and in-ring ability, which is exactly what she did.

Davenport brought all of her eleven-year experience and rock-star attitude to mercilessly beat Di Matteo from start to finish while displaying her impressive skill. Davenport hit a double jump missile dropkick and a V-Trigger followed by a Kamigoye to easily pick up the win.

After the match, Davenport announced her prowess is like no other in the brand and she is here to put the entire women’s division on notice.

Also on the show, video packages hyped up the matches between Jinny and Valkyrie and also the future title match brewing for Amale and NXT UK Women’s Champion, Meiko Satomura.

What did you make of Blair Davenport’s debut? Let us know in the comments below.

Bayley speaks on recent WWE releases – “Most of them are really good friends and so talented”

The longest-reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley spoke out recently on how she felt about the recent WWE releases.

It is never easy to see someone lose their job, but with the most recent releases, Bayley has been hit hard by what has happened. While promoting her upcoming “I Quit” match with Bianca Belair at Money in the Bank, Bayley opened up to Metro UK.

“For me, the past few have been really hard because most of them are really good friends and so talented,” Bayley said. “And I’m just like what?!’ It’s really hard not to see certain ones in our locker room and share traveling the road together.”

One that really struck a soft spot in Bayley was Tyler Breeze. Breeze was released in the last group on June 25. She went on to explain what Breeze me to her and many others in the locker room and was a big help to the women’s roster.

“For one, he gives you his time. It wasn’t just me, he was helping Eva Marie at the time, he was helping so many girls that just wanted more. He helped Sasha so much,’” she said of their extra training sessions to complement their regular classes. “Everybody was learning the same exact things and we wanted more. So, we would ask Breeze if he could watch our matches. Whether or not we knew what we needed to get better at, he did. For me, it was trying to get sympathy from the fans and learning how to sell a body part, certain things.”

She continued, “I’ve been to his school and I’ve seen all his students, how much fun they have learning from him, and the consistent students he has coming in. That just goes to show that he’s doing something right. He’s such a good guy, he’s hilarious, he’s passionate and he’s such a hard worker. We’d all work together and he really pushed me. I owe so much to him.”

“I know that everything happens for a reason in life, and whatever that may be, we’ll found out later,” Bayley said. “But I know they’re gonna be successful. I just can’t wait to see them all do their thing, wherever that may be.”

Breeze first signed with WWE in 2010 where he reported to then-developmental FCW. Over the course of the past several years he was teamed with Fandango known as Breezango. Fandango was also released from WWE when Breeze was. They were on the NXT brand.

Bayley has also tweeted out after other releases took place. Ruby Riott was one that she specifically shared some kind words for.

Sumie Sakai is now in the ROH Women’s Title Tournament; Allie Recks gets the offer but unable to accept due to injury

The first-ever women’s champion in the history of ROH has finally received her golden ticket to the upcoming Quest for Gold Women’s Title Tournament. Sumie Sakai received a call from Board of Directors Maria Kanellis Bennett to receive the offer that she gladly accepted. With only a few spots left it makes sense for Sakai to be in this tournament. A tournament to crown a new champion for the new title.

Kanellis made another call to give out a second ticket to gold. This time it went to Allie Recks. In a heart wrenching moment, Recks wasn’t able to accept her ticket and place in the ROH Women’s Title Tournament. She explained that during her recent match with Max the Impaler on Women’s Division Wednesday her knee wasn’t feeling right and she tried to power through it. She found herself in surgery for her knee and due to her injury she will be out for at least eight to nine months.

On this week’s pre-taped Women Division Wednesday, Recks was in action teaming up with Gia Scott as they faced Sakai and Willow. Despite some disconnect between the team of Recks and Scott, Recks was able to secure a big victory as she speared Willow to get the pin.

Sakai joins the following women who will be in the upcoming tournament. The brackets will be announced this Sunday at ROH’s Best in the World.

Quinn McKay is getting another shot at entering the tournament as it was announced that she will face Mandy Leon in two weeks on ROH TV. Maria will also be handing out two tickets tomorrow. Who will be wrapping up the final spots?

Check back in with Diva Dirt for all news in regards to ROH rebuilding their women’s division and the search to crown a new champion.
