ChickFight Returns with Alissa Flash vs Princess Sugey for PWR Championship

Diva Dirt’s sister promotion, ChickFight: Female Fighting, will return to action on September 19th at the Santa Cruz County Fair with a big title match featuring Alissa Flash.

In a ChickFight sanctioned match for the Pro Wrestling Revolution Women’s Championship, Flash will face the reigning champion, Princess Sugey.

This will be the first time Flash (Cheerleader Melissa) and Sugey have squared off since their cage match during the finals of ChickFight I back in 2004. To watch that match, click here.

Mia Yim Joins Diva Dirt LIVE Team

Diva Dirt is extremely excited to welcome independent wrestler, Mia Yim on board as the newest team member of Diva Dirt LIVE, our weekly flagship Internet radio show.

Mia was a big hit with listeners when she was a guest on the show last month, so we are excited to have her join the show on a more permanent basis. Mia will join David, Jennifer and Melanie to co-host the show once every month.

“I am so excited to be a part of the Diva Dirt LIVE crew. I felt so welcomed the last time I was on. It’s an honor to be on board full time,” Mia said in a statement. “Being a fan of Diva Dirt even before I started wrestling, I never imagined that I would be asked to be apart of the crew. The rising star, who is featured as ‘One to Watch’ in the November issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated, will interact with callers and have her say on our topics just like our current hosts, but also lead her own segment.

In a tweet to Lisa Marie Varon (Tara), Taylor said: “Let’s smoosh! Monday be there!” TNA will be taping Impact next Monday and Tuesday in Orlando.

Varon responds: “What is Monday? I don’t get it.”

Wilde, trying to cover her tracks, then wrote: “I just thought I’d make Monday’s the international smooshing day. I miss ya! Maybe I’ll swing by your hood sometime soon.”

So for those of you that are still sceptical that it is Tara, there you have it.

Things Looking Up for Rosa Mendes in Wake of Tiffany’s Legal Woes

WWE has released its line up for the company’s return to Madison Square Garden next month and there seems to be a silver lining in Tiffany’s recent legal woes for one Diva.

Rosa Mendes, in an apparent babyface turn, is coming off the bench and will team up with Kelly Kelly to take on Lay-Cool at MSG on September 26th.

I’m assuming that this is an updated line-up and the original spot was for Tiffany. I can’t see Rosa and Kelly teaming up randomly otherwise.

We’ll see if this also means a push for Rosa on TV when SmackDown tapes tonight in LA.

As we all know, Melina picked up a huge win last Sunday at SummerSlam over Alicia Fox to win the Divas Championship, but her moment was ruined by the BFF champs, Lay-Cool. Will Melina get her revenge on the Flawless Ones? Will Alicia get a chance to redeem herself and win back the Divas Title? Will Melina come to the ring as a Vegas showgirl again? No. None of that happens. Instead we get a 6 Diva tag match pitting the team of Melina, Gail Kim and Eve Torres against Alicia Fox, Maryse and Jillian. Check out the match below:

Out first are the babyfaces and I must say, they look like a rag-tag group of super heroines. but I like it for some reason. Next, we have the heels, led to the ring by Alicia, who gets right in Melina’s face. This lead to a bit of a scuffle between the two teams. The referee finally gets control of the situation and signals for the opening bell.

Gail and Maryse start the match off for their respective teams. In her usual arrogant manner, Maryse shoves Gail, before narrowly dogding a bitchslap to the face. Maryse charge but is quickly taken down by a drop toe hold. Gail follows up by slamming Maryse’s face into the canvas repeatedly. Maryse tries to get back into the game by reversing an Irish Whip but Gail using the ropes to hit a springboard crossbody. Gail ties Maryse up it the Tree of Woe and tags in the Divas champion, Melina. Gail grabs the still incapacitated Maryse by the hair and Melina leapfrogs over her partner, coming down hard on Maryse’s mid-section.

The former Divas Champions can be seen in the game-play picture above, which was posted at IGN.com today.

New RCW Champion, Alissa Flash (Cheerleader Melissa) will make her first title defense on September 4th against the Latina Sensation, Mercedes Martinez it was announced today.

Check out the announcement video below:

Alissa made history a couple of weeks ago by becoming the first woman to win the company’s top title, usually reserved for men, by defeating Joey Spector. Meanwhile, Martinez is the current reigning WSU World Champion, coming off a huge victory over Mickie James.

SummerSlam In Review: Melina is Comeback Queen, But Lay-Cool Steal the Spotlight

After Monday night hit-and-miss match between Melina and Divas champion, Alicia Fox, fans and critics alike were curious about how these two would fare at SummerSlam with the title on the line. While it wasn’t as sketchy as Monday’s match, these two hardly put on a mat classic. Check out the match below:

Out first is the champ, sporting some new attire. I’m not crazy about it, but it’s probably my favorite out of her new pinata gear. Melina is out next and… wow. Going all out for her hometown return, Melina has donned an over the top and blindingly bright Vegas showgirl outfit, complete with headdress and feathered boots. While it may not be my cup of tea, I have to give Melina points for originality and creativity. Rarely do we see a Diva put so much effort into her ring gear, so kudos to her.

After a few awkward moments of Melina removing her boot covers, the referee rings the bell and our way is underway. The two fierce competitors square off in the center of the ring, each trying to assert their dominance and show their opponent that they’re not intimidated. At long last, the Divas lock up with Melina getting the upper hand and muscling Alicia into the corner. The challenger breaks clean and they tie up again, but this time Fox get the advantage with a headlock followed by a takeover. Melina manages to get to her feet and to the rope, forcing the champ to break the hold.

In Pictures: Becky Bayless in TNA

As we posted last week, independent star Becky Bayless made an appearance for TNA last week managing new signee, Rob Eckos during a dark match.

The pair worked a Jersey Shore-esque gimmick with Bayless appearing as ‘Cookie’, a take-off of Snooki from the hit MTV reality show.

Earlier today, Becky posted a couple of pictures from the night on her Twitter page. Check them out below:

Becky looks awesome and this looks like a pretty fun gimmick. Hopefully Becky is also offered a contract and they put the duo on TV.

Lay-Cool & Melina: Where Do We Go from Here?

Last night’s SummerSlam pay per view is in the history books and while Steven will be reviewing the Divas match at length later, I wanted to broach the subject of Lay-Cool vs Melina, which was teased to us at the end of the Divas Championship match. Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but last night’s attack on Melina at the hands of SmackDown’s mean girls opened up a world of opportunity and to me, was the Diva equivalent of the then-NXT season one rookies hitting the ring on Raw back in June, in that now infamous ‘Tiegate’ segment.

“Why was Lay-Cool there?” “Why did they attack Melina?” Those were just some of the questions that people were asking last night. Did it all make sense? No. But then again, did that NXT invasion all make sense that Monday night in June? Answers, I expect, will come tonight and in the coming weeks on Raw and SmackDown.

For what it was, however, last night’s angle was an explosive and exciting way to begin what seems like a new cross-promotional feud between the self-professed co-Women’s Champions and the new Divas Champion. WWE quite literally kicked things off with a bang, with Michelle McCool hitting that devastating running knee into a defenceless Melina, who was propped up against the announcers’ table. Kudos to all involved, because that had me — and I suspect many of you — anticipating what would happen next.

Drew McIntyre Says Tiffany Incident Was ‘Complete Misunderstanding’

WWE Superstar, Drew McIntyre (real name Drew Galloway) has spoken for the first time since reports came out last Friday that his wife, WWE Diva Tiffany (real name Taryn Terrell) was arrested following an altercation between the two at a hotel in Los Angeles.

McIntyre, speaking to the Sunday Mail, a newspaper in his homeland of Scotland yesterday, said that the situation was a ‘complete misunderstanding’. “I can’t say anything else until it’s cleared up, which will be very soon,” he told the paper.

Meanwhile, McIntyre’s mother, Angela Galloway, is also quoted in the article saying that Drew and Taryn are still together, suggesting things are not as bad as they seem. “I knew they were going to a party on Saturday but I didn’t know anything about Taryn getting arrested. I spoke to Drew and he said not to worry, that everything had been blown out of proportion. He says he is OK and he and Taryn are still together.”

Glad to see that Drew and Taryn are okay and hopefully this situation resolves itself soon.

Fan Report from SummerSlam Axxess on Sunday: Kelly, Alicia, Maryse & Natalya

Diva Dirt reader Yuri attended yesterday’s SummerSlam Fan Axxess and sent this along:

Okay so I officially went to axxess today. I didn’t get to meet all the divas there, but I met a crucial group, I feel.

The first Diva I met was Kelly Kelly… this girl is beyond gorgeous. Beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe her. I was one of the first people to spot her coming towards us so I called out to her and “Whoooooed” her. I told her “Kelly you’re gorgeous!” and she smiled at me and said, “Thanks!” She was amazingly sweet to everyone, especially the kids. She called everyone sweetie and tried to be personable with everyone, personalizing autographs and whatnot. She looked so good too. I think she may have gotten a little thinner if that’s possible. It was a great way to start the day.

After Kelly, I went to see Alicia Fox, who oddly enough, had the shortest line so I jumped on it. She also didn’t have her title with her which was a bummer because I would have loved a picture with her with it. I always thought she was pretty, but that was all… and then when I saw her today, she just blew me away. She’s surprisingly UNLIKE her in ring character. She’s a bit soft-spoken, but in a good way. She was really sweet and trying to get the crowd into it, but they weren’t having it. And boy she is TALL!!!!!! She has a gorgeous smile. I looked at her and told her how beautiful she was and how TV doesn’t do her justice. She smiled and said “Awww, thanks!” and as she signed my book, I told her good luck before they shooed me away.

After Alicia, I went and met my future husband Evan Bourne~! But he’s not a Diva so I’m moving on. I went to meet the Million Dollar couple, Ted DiBiase and Maryse. They were by far the most personable pair of superstars there. They talked, “flirted,” and played with EVERYONE. They somewhat stayed in character, but it was sweet and playful~! Maryse was a bit aloof I think. I couldn’t necessarily see what she was feeling because the sunglasses never came off, but she was nice. She looked great, as always, and I even spoke to her in the limited French I remembered from high school. I said “Bonjour” and she smiled and said “Ah comment ca va? (How are you?)” and I said “Ahhh…comme ci, comme ca (pretty okay)” and then she said something else but I was getting shooed off so I waved them goodbye. On a side note, Ted DiBiase was amazingly handsome and charming! I just about died when I met him.

I thought after that I would be done but then my friends flag me down at the Hart Dynasty table… they were almost to the front and Tyson Kidd, DH Smith, AND Natalya were there so I jumped on the chance to meet her. She’s one of my favorite Divas after all. Let me tell you something… when I say TV doesn’t do justice, she is the EPITOMY of that. She is so much more beautiful in person! When I went last year she wasn’t there so I only met Tyson Kidd and DH Smith, so when I saw her this year I was so happy! I told her I was a huge fan of hers and she looked so happy! I think it’s because not many people say that because of how little they see her wrestle. It’s a shame really. And on my shirt, I had put her name on the front. She saw it and gasped. She went “Oh my God!” and she grinned. I smiled and told her I had to represent! She gave me that trademark Natalya grin and high fived me!!! She loved my shirt and told me like 5 times hahahaha.

I didn’t have a chance to meet Eve, Jillian or the Bella Twins but I saw them and gorgeous as always~!!!!

Melina Wins Divas Championship… But Lay-Cool Get the Last Laugh

A-List Diva, Melina became Divas Champion just moments ago at SummerSlam, defeating Alicia Fox in her hometown of Los Angeles, California.

However, Melina’s celebration was cut short by SmackDown Divas, Lay-Cool who attacked the new Divas Champ, leaving her unconscious after Michelle hit her with a sick running knee into the announce table.

EDIT: As a result of Melina’s title win, the term ‘Melina’ began trending worldwide on Twitter. Double congrats to Melina!

Will Melina complete her comeback trail by winning the Divas Championship before her hometown in Los Angeles? She faces Alicia Fox tonight at SummerSlam. Our predictions below…

Cryssi: It seems surreal to me that this match is actually taking place this Sunday. Melina has been back on television for two weeks now and she’s already earned a championship match. Unreal. To me, this just goes to show how little thought and effort goes into the Diva’s division these days. I understand that my girl never officially lost the title. And maybe that has something to do with why she is getting a chance to face Alicia tonight. What needs to happen is Alicia retains in some ridiculous fashion and then a feud for Night of Champions should start heating up. Let these two girls have a proper rivalry and give us all a chance to watch them grow together and become comfortable in the ring with one another. I’ve NEVER gone against Melina, even in matches I knew she would lose, but tonight I’m going with Alicia Fox to retain. I doubt it happens, and my heart tells me it won’t. But stranger things have happened in World Wrestling Entertainment. They did give Jack Swagger a World Championship reign after all.

David: Years from now when I look back at SummerSlam 2010 I will remember this match differently. I will remember it as a quality Divas Title match and forget that it was booked too quickly and that it moved some deserving talent to the sidelines. Melina’s return should have been handled much differently, to show her chasing Alicia and to build great anticipation for an eventual showdown. (I would have booked it for Survivor Series in the fall.) The WWE, however, pushed Melina right over Eve, Maryse, and Natalya and gave her this high profile title match only a few weeks after her return. To that end, I think Melina is a safe bet to defeat Alicia Sunday and will leave her hometown as the new Divas Champion.

Erin: It’s wayyyy too soon for Melina to win the gold, especially given how she already defeated Alicia on Raw. Despite the WWE’s tendency to screw over Alicia mid-push, I really feel that they’re going to stretch her title reign a bit longer, if only to make for a more interesting build up to Melina’s eventual win. It would seriously shortchange this feud if they were to switch the title too soon, because I think babyface Melina is best suited at the moment to chase the title, not hold it. Alicia Fox wins and retain the title.

Fan Report from Saturday’s SummerSlam Fan Axxess

Unfortunately I only caught part of the autograph session Maryse did. What I noticed was that she was very popular… she had a one of the longest lines I saw of anyone and it stayed that way. I got there an hour late and the line was still long. Not sure if part of it was fans wanting photos of her or if they really wanted her autograph. But she is stunning in person. If there is such a thing as a “California blonde,” Maryse fits it.

Regarding Jamie Keyes, talk about someone in need of a photoshoot. It was nice to see her step into the role Lilian has done in years past but she does need to tweak her announcing. She announced the matches during Fan Axxess and sometimes it sounded like she was asking a question and not making a statement. But I can’t get over how she looks. More than any other Diva including Beth, Jamie looks like a fitness model. She spends a lot of time in the gym and it shows. If she’s as strong as she looks then Beth needs to start working out more.
