Beth Phoenix on the restrictions that were on the Diva’s division

Ring The Belle receives a once in a lifetime interview with the Glamazon herself Beth Phoenix. The four-time champion and Hall of Famer sat down with DS Shin to go over the fan-voted top five moments. During these moments she goes over her feuds with Candice Michelle, Kelly Kelly, and Melina. She also discusses the wonderful friendship she has developed with Natalya.

Phoenix was a focal point during the Diva era of WWE. This time was filled with many obstacles and restrictions for the women to receive matches and to be taken seriously on TV. She explains how she made it around those obstacles and restrictions during that time.

“We just tried our best to work within our comfort zones. We had to do things that weren’t great. I had to do bikini shoots. I had to do bra and panties matches. I had to do a lot of stuff I didn’t love and didn’t want to do. But I knew at the end, I’m here to entertain and make people happy. And I knew it would change. I knew in my heart, someday if we don’t give up, it’s gonna change. And it has.”

As a result of how far women have come in the WWE, Phoenix recalls her tearful reaction to the first crowning of the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

“That was so special. It did mean a lot to me because the girls felt as passionately as myself and Nattie. It wasn’t always nice. It was always a battle. It was always a fight. Every week you knew it was gonna be a fight. So I appreciated that the girls continued to fight and they got a win. That felt like a win.”

As a result of the fans picking her match against Eve at Survivor Series as a top moment, Phoenix divulges some juicy details about that match. Most particularly her memorable Super Glam Slam spot on Eve.

“It was Madison Square Garden. The same place where Bret vs. Owen took place, which is the match that inspired me to become a wrestler. And also, this particular move, we weren’t supposed to do in the match. This is pipebomb, but we were not supposed to do that move. Eve and I were like, we’ll take the flack. Whatever flack comes from this spot, they were concerned of the danger aspect, it was too dangerous, which I get that. But Eve and I knew that that would be the moment from the match. This is what it will take to make the match memorable, and we’re in Madison Square Garden….We took a risk, and we believed in ourselves. Obviously, fans remember it.”

Phoenix also comments on the wild feud that has been happening between both her husband, Edge, and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch on Twitter. From this, she explains her thoughts on her bestie Natalya facing Lynch at SummerSlam.

“I’m looking so forward to Becky and Natalya at SummerSlam. My best friend against somebody that I feel has changed the business. So I am really excited for SummerSlam.”

Summer Rae comments on Sasha Banks’ WWE status

Former WWE Superstar, Summer Rae sat down with Ring the Belle’s DS Shin to countdown the top five moments according to fans. Rae, whose real name is Danielle Moinet, speaks on many topics while discussing these moments. She comments on her time in NXT, the infamous Rusev/Lana storyline, her feud with Layla, and her friendship with Sasha Banks and much more.

The formation of the faction BFF, which was listed as a top five moment, is where Moinet mentions she and Banks were and still are good friends. Shin capitalized from this moment by asking the hard-hitting question about the rumors circulating about Banks. Moinet seemingly confused was unaware of these rumors about her friend being unhappy and wanting to quit WWE.

While she doesn’t know anything about the aforementioned situation she says there were many rumors of herself going around when she was with WWE. After mentioning that everyone goes through things she mentions that she stays off the dirt sheets. Moinet feels a lot of information that is provided is hearsay and the dirt sheets aren’t right at all.

Her sentiment rings true in many situations. There are always two sides to every story. We certainly live in a world where a big game of telephone is what dictates the current social climate.

Watch the full video from Ring the Belle to find out the rest of the fans’ top five Summer Rae moments. She also speaks on the slap heard around the world on Total Divas and talks on if she plans to return to the ring. Thank you to DS Shin for making this exclusive interview happen.

Former Divas discuss creative struggles in WWE

Former WWE Divas Molly Holly and Lisa Marie Varon (known as Victoria during her career) shared their experiences with rookie Divas, and what it was like to pitch ideas to the McMahons.

DS Shin of Ring the Belle sat down with the legends to discuss fan-voted top five moments of each woman’s career.

Shin asked Holly and Varon what it was like to work with rookie Divas, after a wave of new talent emerged in the division with no previous wrestling experience. Varon spoke on the expectations Divas were made to uphold, and how they got new talent over.

“It’s a tough sport. I always say to fans that come up to me and want to wrestle, go to college or play golf or something like that. It’s a tough, tough business. Only the tough survive. You’re fighting for your own spot. You have to be thin, you have to be pretty, you can’t wrinkle, you can’t get gray hair, you always have to have a smile on your face.

I think our forte was working with the rookies and making them look good; better than they are. I mean, we would sacrifice our form and everything like that just to make them get the big pop, and people to cheer for them and boo us.”

The former champions also discussed creative struggles women in WWE had to face, and how it felt pitching to the McMahon family.

Varon participated in the first-ever women’s steel cage match, which aired on Raw in November of 2003. She explained how the women wanted to make the match hardcore, but faced discrimination.

“Interesting fact about this gigging. We gig our forehead to bleed sometimes, or we have the ref gig us, or something like that, and I wanted to gig [during the match]. Fit Finlay goes, ‘No, no, no, you’re not allowed to.’ And I go  ‘What? We’re doing a cage match, though.’ You know? We were hardcore at the time. I would never do it now, but at the time I was like, ‘Oh, were so hardcore and we can do anything the guys do.’ We didn’t think it through. I went to Vince to ask him and he goes, ‘No, thank you Victoria for wanting to do it, but no one wants to see a Diva bleed.’

I did tell Lita, ‘Throw me as hard as you can against the cage so I can get color gigging, naturally.’ And I didn’t know how to do it, so I went ‘thunk’ and I got a big knot.”

Molly Holly faced her own creative barriers. Holly faced Victoria at WrestleMania 20 in the infamous “hair match” for the WWE Women’s Championship, with the added stipulation that if Holly lost, she would have to shave her head bald. Victoria won the match.

Holly spoke on how the championship match almost never happened.

“I was the champion, and the writers told me that there was only room for one match, girls’ match, at WrestleMania. They were going to do like a pillow fight, or a mud thing with the Divas. I was like, what? Like, I’m the champ and I don’t get to defend my title at WrestleMania? I was really devastated, so I thought, ‘I’ve got to come up with something that makes them change their minds.’

So, I put a bald cap on and had my photo taken. Then I made a booklet with a bunch of different storylines that could go either way, like, with showing my head getting shaved. I presented it to Stephanie McMahon. I presented it to some of the writers, and said, ‘I’m willing to shave my head, can I please be on WrestleMania?’ And sure enough, they came back to me couple days later and said, ‘All right, we’re going to let you get your head shaved at WrestleMania.'”

With the Royal Rumble only a few days away, fans have speculated as to who the remaining nine unannounced women’s Royal Rumble match entrants might be. Varon and Holly are two names that are frequently in the discussion. Varon spells out how WWE returns usually happen.

“It is not my decision. They have to call and invite you. I still do the indies and a lot of signings at Comic Cons. A lot of people think I have a choice. The company has to decide. It’s out of our hands.”

Check out the entire interview with the Divas above, and be sure to visit Ring the Belle’s YouTube channel here.

The premiere episode was a success, with fans and critics expressing their eagerness for more episodes of WOW.

Former Diva on issues with AJ Lee and possible WWE return

Ariane Andrew, who was known as Cameron during her stint at WWE, recently spilled details on her relationship with AJ Lee, wardrobe malfunctions at WrestleMania, working with Ember Moon, and a possible WWE return.

The former Diva sat down with DS Shin of Ring The Belle to countdown fans’ top five Cameron moments.

Andrew touched on her torrid relationship with WrestleMania, including her canceled tag match against the Bella Twins on WrestleMania 29, and a wardrobe malfunction during the Vickie Guerrero Invitational Battle Royal match for the Divas Championship, at WrestleMania 30.

“[WrestleMania] has not been my best friend. We got the match cancelled then we had my top come off. Luckily, I was out early and not later, because, you know, the fans would’ve gotten a full preview of these little nuggets right here.”

Andrew experienced her first championship match at Elimination Chamber against AJ Lee, in Feb. 2014.

The Total Divas staple was asked what it was like to work with AJ Lee during a period when Lee was at the top of the division. At first, Andrew pleaded the fifth, then decided to elaborate.

“Wrestling fans are going to hate me out there because [AJ Lee] did make a huge impact in the division. But what I will say is, I respect her, her work ethic, and what she’s doing now with her books, and stuff like that. But I will say that for someone who was new, I wish I could’ve had someone who was a little bit more guiding and not leave me out to the wolves. That is what it kind of was, with dealing with her. It was major tough love.”

Andrew would continue by making a comment about needing guidance from a wrestler who didn’t show up to matches at the last minute. Also alluding to the fact that the Elimination Chamber match with Lee almost didn’t happen, due to an illness Andrew questioned.

“I’m gonna spill some tea here because [AJ Lee] said she was sick. Her stomach was hurting, but then she told me to do my move where I drop the leg on her stomach. So, I was like, ‘Girl, I’m confused.'”

After the Funkadactyls broke up in 2014, and Andrew experienced an unsuccessful singles run, she was sent to NXT in late 2015. When describing the chemistry she had with Superstars, Andrew spoke fondly of Ember Moon.

“Someone who was my complete favorite was Ember Moon. She wasn’t on the roster on my time, and this is when I was back down in NXT. We had some great matches. We just vibed. Our chemistry was just always on point, and I had the best matches with her.”

When describing a finisher she developed in NXT that was not seen on television, Andrew let it slip that she might return to WWE, soon.

“Actually, I had another finisher when I was down in NXT, as a comeback. You guys didn’t get to see that. But maybe you guys will in the future. I may have an announcement to possibly make. Who knows what it’s about? To possibly, maybe come back in WWE.”

See the entire interview from Ring The Belle in the video above.

What do you think about Andrew’s comments on AJ Lee? Will we see a Cameron return at the Royal Rumble?

Watch Tenille “Emma” Dashwood vs. Rachel Ellering for free

Tenille Dashwood, formerly known as “Emma” while working for WWE, has embraced the independent wrestling scene since she was released from her WWE contract in late October of 2017. When wrestlers are released from WWE, fans are uncertain what their next career move will be. Some wrestlers parlay their WWE success into work within other entertainment channels, and others choose to continue wrestling. Tenille Dashwood chose the latter and has hit the ground running on the independent scene.

Tenille’s first big match took place on February 3rd, in the New Jersey area, when she wrestled Angelina Love for the promotion know as WrestlePro. Not soon after, it was announced that Tenille Dashwood would be wrestling for Ring of Honor in their Women of Honor tournament to crown their first ever Womens Champion.

Recently, Tenille Dashwood came full circle and was involved in a match with her mentor and trainer, Lance Storm. On February 11th, in Providence, Rhode Island, WHAT Wrestling booked two graduates from the Storm Wrestling Academy, Tenille Dashwood and Rachel Ellering to do battle with Lance Storm as the special guest referee. This match caught buzz immediately and WHAT Wrestling decided to share it with the world by releasing the match on their YouTube channel.

Tenille was very grateful for the opportunity and tweeted her appreciation to Lance, Rachel, WHAT Wrestling and their fans.

Tenille is accepting bookings all across the world and is very excited to meet her fans. Here are a few of her upcoming announced shows and links to each promotions website or ticket page.

2K Games rolls out entrances, rating system and CAW details for upcoming WWE 2K18

Ahead of WWE 2K18’s release this month, 2K Games released more in-depth details about this year’s game.

With approval from 2K, several YouTuber’s are featuring Superstar entrances. All women’s entrances, except for DLC characters Beth Pheonix and Ruby Riot, have now been released and can be seen below courtesy of DenkOps – Chris Denker:

Additionally, YouTuber The Revelleution has a peak at new Create-a-Wrestler items for women including hairstyles, gear, makeup, and more:

According to IGN, this year’s CAW suite will include:

  • A variety of face templates that represent different races and ethnicities, that you can use as is, or modify to your liking.
  • New Body Types customization to shape the ideal body type to your Superstars.
  •  Hair style flair
  • The ability to place Scars around all over the body.
  • Fully customizable teeth
  • New Material Types such as Carbon Fiber, Glitter, Glow and Black Light.
  • The “infamous” issue with the edges of a design/logo fading out when being stretched, has finally been addressed in WWE 2K18, with a new Logo Mapping method, that allows you to fully wrap the logo around the part.
  • The Stitch Pattern feature from last year has been improved and redesigned, now allowing you to draw the patterns first, apply them and resize them, as well as save them to be re-used on any other Superstar.
  • To go along with the new Lighting System in WWE 2K18, in the Create A Superstar Menu, there is now the ability to preview the different lighting scenarios throughout the game, with options for Backstage, Match Lighting, Day Light, Black Light and Lights Off.
  • The Lighting Preview comes really handy when applying and previewing the Glow and Black Light material, for easier control on how intense you want these effects to be. And you are not limited to just Attires and Clothes. You can also apply these effects to Tattoos, Body Art, and hair as well. And when you combine this with Create An Entrance, you can really create some interesting looks that really help your superstar stand out ala Chris Jericho’s jacket or Naomi‘s GLOW entrance.
  • You will now have more control on the Menu Pose as well. Not only you can choose which pose you want for the body, but hands pose and face expressions can also be individually customized, to give your Superstar a more distinct look. In addition, it’s now also possible to choose the Entrance Attire as a Menu Screen Pose.

2K Games also revealed character rankings for some Superstars:

Missing from the announcement are rankings for Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, Stephanie McMahon, Lita, Ivory, Jacqueline, Trish Stratus, Tamina, Nikki Cross, Summer Rae, Paige, Brie Bella, and Alundra Blayze, along with DLC Characters Beth Phoenix and Ruby Riot.

Other new game modes include create-a-match mode, a Road to Glory mode (akin to My Career but it still doesn’t allow you to play as a female Superstar), WWE Universe mode, and more.

WWE 2K18 will be in stores on October 17, 2017.

WWE referee Jessika Carr corners the spotlight ahead of Mae Young Classic broadcast

All eyes won’t just be on all of the women wrestlers during the upcoming Mae Young Classic. WWE’s first official full-time referee Jessika Carr will also get her turn in the spotlight throughout the highly-anticipated event.

The Baltimore native says in a brand-new video on WWE.com that she started wrestling in 2009, eventually moving to Florida to train at the Dudley Boyz’s Team 3D Academy. “Along the way, in order to get to Team 3D, I won an NWA scholarship. They picked me out of 40, 45 people to continue my career and awarded me money. So I used that money to go to Team 3D Academy and that just shows you that they saw my passion and my potential,” she explains.

Jessika admits that the journey to become an official WWE referee wasn’t easy and that the job itself doesn’t seem like the glamorous in the world of wrestling. But, she explains, referees are “just as important” as Becky Lynch or Alexa Bliss. She adds, “We’re that third person in the match. The best referees are very passionate about what they do, and without a doubt, I am.”

Like many wrestlers and fans, Jessika reveals that the sport helped her see the light at the end of some heartbreaking circumstances in life. “For me, wrestling was something I always loved. Something that got me through a lot of hard times — of being bullied, of being overweight, of a parents’ divorce. It was what I looked forward to,” she says.

Now, Jessika, having fulfilled a huge life goal, is encouraging others to do the same. “If you have a dream, you have to chase it. You have to really look deep inside yourself and say, ‘This is what makes me happy. This is what I want to do. This is what I need to do.’ I didn’t want to want up and go to a job that I hated. And now I can say that.”

The first installment of the Mae Young Classic kicks off August 28 on the WWE Network.

Are you excited to see Jessika Carr in the ring? Which female wrestler are you voting for to become the first-ever Mae Young Classic champion? Sound off in the comments below!
