Raw Redux (August 15th, 2011): Kelly’s Winning Streak Rubs Off on Eve, Stephanie is Back, Vickie and Swagger?!

What a fantastic 48 hours for the WWE as a whole, as well as the Divas. A lot of us doubted that the ‘E could keep their momentum after Money in the Bank, but they’ve certainly proven me wrong, and I hope all of you as well. SummerSlam provided us with the return of the … Read more

Raw Redux (August 1st, 2011): Beth Turns Heel While Vickie Continues to Bring the Fierce

When Raw has a good showing three important things happen; angels start to sing, a unicorn sprouts fairy wings and begins to fly, and I get to write a happy Redux. Last night, Raw had a good showing, and I found myself incredibly excited to talk about the show, and write about it. So lets … Read more

Raw Redux (July 11th, 2011): There’s No Difference Between Malnourished And Malnurtured, Right?

Oh, except according to Dictionary.com, Malnurtured is not really a word. Oh Brie Bella. If my face were an emoticon, it would be the frown face one.

Yes, it’s me. Not only am I the resident Khaleesi of Diva Dirt Live, I’m also your Raw Redux writer, at least for this week. I’ve overthrown Steven, high-jacked his Redux, and now I ‘m going to grace the minds of each and every reader with my opinions of what went down this week. You’re absolutely on the edge of your seats, aren’t you? It’s been a hot minute since I’ve written one of these thanks to the lack of action of SmackDown, as well as, an out of town trip on my part. Forgive me if it isn’t up to my usual low standards. I’m just giving you all fair warning.

We all follow the Bella twins on Twitter, right (twitter.com/thebellatwins)? Earlier in the night they teased that they were going to reveal the truth about Diva’s Champion, Kelly Kelly, which I reckon was their way of building heat for the Brie versus Kelly title match this Sunday at Money In The Bank. It followed a match featuring the rarely seen Diva known as Melina, who took on the champ. There is also a random guest appearance by Eve Torres. Lets take a look at how everything went down, shall we?

Raw comes back from break with Melina in the ring, playing to the crowd. If you’re anything like me, you were shocked by this (not to mention overjoyed, estatic, happy, insert other adjective here…), and the moment was cut short when they switched to the Bella twins over at the commentary booth. Brie, and Nikki Bella, are being their wonderful selves. We have all the makings of an epic Diva segment, right?!

Raw Redux (April 4th, 2011): Trish & JoMo’s WrestleMania Roll Continues

Fresh off of her WrestleMania win last night, seven time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus teamed up with John Morrison once again to face off against Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler this week on Raw. Can the ‘Diva of the Decade’ and ‘The Shaman of Sexy’ pull out another win? Check out the match below:

The segment starts off with Vickie and Dolph coming down to the ring and pinning the blame for their loss at WrestleMania on Lay-Cool and challenges Trish and John Morrison to a mixed tag match. Never ones to pass up a challenge, Trish and JoMo accept (after a short commercial break).

John Morrison and start the match off, and after a bit of back and forth, Morrison gets the upperhand, sending Dolph scrambling to his corner to tag in Vickie. In an attempt to mock Snooki’s back handspring at WrestleMania, Vickie tries her best to hit a cartwheel. Vickie celebrates her acrobatic feat, but takes her eye off of Trish and get rolled up for a nearfall.

WrestleMania 27 in Review: Stratusfaction & SnookiMania Runs Wild

Raise your hand if you expected any other result last night? (Hopefully no one has their hand raised or I might question whether you enjoy Long Island Iced Teas as much as Snooki.) Going into last night’s WrestleMania 27 it was pretty much a given that this was going to be a star vehicle for Snooki. She’d win the match, have a nice little moment and Lay-Cool would run to the back with their tails between their legs.

What we may not have expected, seeing this match on paper, is just how darn entertaining this segment turned out to be! Yes, I’ll be the first to admit it: I was thoroughly entertained by something involving Snooki from Jersey Shore. Does that mean I’m going to run out and buy her book or the entire first season of the show? Hell no. But for what it was, last night’s six-person tag team match was actually enjoyable. I would say that was thanks, in no small part, to a Stratusfying comeback from Trish Stratus and in my opinion, the most consistent Diva in WWE right now, Michelle McCool.

Raw Redux (March 21st, 2011): Eve Gets a Lump of Cole While Vickie Continues Her Roll

After being shafted from Raw last week, in favor of Snooki, Divas Champion, Eve, is in action this week, taking on Maryse in a non-title match. We even get a mid-match interruption by Michael Cole. Oh joy… Check out the match below:

We come from commercial to find Maryse already in the ring, doing the usual preening. Eve makes her way out next to a pretty good reaction, while Maryse mocks her from inside the ring. The official signals for the bell, but Maryse stops to do a very over-dramatic hairflip before the match begins. Eve brushes Maryse and does a little mocking of her own. Maryse offense and goes for a slap, but Eve dodges and strikes back with a slap of her own.

Raw Ratings: Snooki Loses Viewers but Trish & Vickie Bring Them Back

A breakdown of the Raw ratings from this past Monday shows that Jersey Shore star Snooki’s appearance on Raw went much in the same way as her co-stars’ in TNA: the ratings went down. The period featuring Snooki’s in-ring promo and Drew Carey’s Hall of Fame announcement lost 301,000 viewers, according to the Wrestling Observer. … Read more

Raw Redux (March 14th, 2011): Snooking for Some Stratus-Faction

It’s here! The day we’ve been waiting for all… week? Snooki of the Jersey Shore made her long awaited and highly anticipated WWE debut as a guest host last night. Oh yeah, and someone named Trish Stratus — you may have heard of her — had a match against Vickie Guerrero. But that’s not why you’re reading this, right?! You want to hear about all the hard-hitting Snooki action, so let’s get right into it, shall we?

First we have a backstage segment featuring Snooki and Vickie with Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison playing supporting roles. Let’s see how the drama unfolds:

The segment starts off with Snooki and JoMo chatting backstage for some reason. I wasn’t really paying attention to what they were saying, but I’m assuming they were comparing spray tans. Right as Snooki offers Morrison a spot in the Jersey Shore house, Vickie and Dolph make their entrance. Vickie tells the ‘Princess of the Poof’ to keep her hands off of Dolph. Confused, Snooki asks Vickie what her problem is and Vickie tells her that Snooki getting the cover of Rolling Stone is her problem. Vickie goes on to say that she was offered the cover of Playboy, prompting Snooki to make a predictable crack on Vickie’s weight. (Insert pot and kettle joke here).

Offended, Vickie goes to slap Snooki, but Snooki blocks it and lays Vickie out with a slap of her own. Ouch. John Morrison quickly rushes Snooki away, leaving Vickie to stew in her rage and punch poor Dolph in the chest.

Not a terrible segment to be quite honest. I was expecting much, much worse. Also, Snooki’s slap looked like it hurt like hell. Guess she was taking out some of pent up anger from that time she got punched in the face…

Raw Redux (March 7th, 2011): The Divas Get Rick-Cole-d

After winning a No.1 Contenders’ Battle Royal on last week’s edition of Raw, I’m sure Brie Bella was primed and ready to take on Divas Champion, Eve, in a title match this week. Unfortunately for her, she was replaced by her twin sister, Nikki in the match. There’s a joke in there somewhere about ‘Twin Magic’. In any case, this week Eve went one on one with Nikki Bella with Brie Bella in her corner. To even up the odds, Eve brought along Gail Kim for back-up. Will the Bellas’ ‘Twin Magic’ score them another victory over the champ? Check out the match below:

We come from commercial to find Eve in the ring getting a pep talk from Gail Kim. I know I’m always getting on Eve for not showing much personality, but she is oozing disgust and disdain for The Bella Twins tonight. I must say I’m impressed. Out next are The Bellas and despite being in singles action, both are dressed for in-ring action. Come on, ref. You have to see what’s coming from a mile away…

SmackDown Redux (February 25th, 2011): Vickie’s Reign of Terror Comes to an End. Lay-Cool Continue to Fall Apart.

(Sorry for the lateness of this Redux. I don’t make this a habit but last night a migraine hit me and I couldn’t finish it. So yeah, apologies everyone.)

The six-hundredth episode of SmackDown went off without a hitch in my humble opinion and to say the Elimination Chamber was amazing would be an understatement. The momentum kept on rolling with a solid Raw, so with history not on the side of the Divas, this SmackDown can either be a hit, or it can be a total miss. I’m not entirely sure which it’s going to be because I’m writing this intro without having watched the show. So how about you great readers take this journey with me this week?

SmackDown doesn’t really waste any time getting started this week. Before the intros even roll, a video package highlighting last week’s firing of Dolph Ziggler is shown. This is relevant to us Diva fans because number one, Dolph is sexy, and number two, it involves Vickie Guerrero. And Vickie is made of win. Once the package concludes, SmackDown General Manager, Theodore Long, is shown on the screen. He says that due to Vickie’s involvement with Dolph and Dolph’s attack on him (Teddy), Teddy has every right to fire Vickie. But instead of doing that, he is going to give Vickie a chance to fight for her job. Tonight’s main event is going to be a mixed tag team match featuring the team of Vickie and former Intercontinental Champion, Drew McIntyre, taking on the team of Kelly Kelly and the World Heavyweight Champion Edge. If Drew and Vickie lose, then Vickie can kiss her SmackDown career goodbye. Teddy smiles, takes off his glasses, and the SmackDown intro begins to play.

Do you know the enemy….

Elimination Chamber in Review: Divas Deliver 100% Stratusfaction (That’s a Guarantee!)

It’s funny how things work out sometimes, isn’t it? You take a throw away pay-per-view like the Elimination Chamber, the show that’s get stuck between the big two, and you put together a rather weak card of five matches that leaves so much to be desired. For Diva fans the show appeared to suck even more because there wasn’t a match announced at all. I can’t speak for everyone, but I didn’t really want to watch the show. All day I debated whether or not to order it and my gut kept telling me to do it; give the show a chance and you won’t be disappointed. The show ended up getting ordered and low and behold it blew the Royal Rumble completely out of the water. Not only did the matches deliver, but the show was full of surprises. New champions were crowned, both Elimination Chambers far exceeded expectations, and the WWE continued their theme of shock/awe returns. That Diva match never happened but if you want my humble opinion (and you know you do), what we got was much, much better.

When an announcer gets in the ring for what seems to be no apparent reason, I, like all Diva fans should, cringe because it usually spells bad things for the girls. Diva dance offs or bikini contests, or something that’s not a match, usually ends up taking place. So when Booker T got in the ring, my reaction was natural. Booker T has a microphone and he says that he wants to introduce somebody and that this somebody is going to be a trainer on the new season of Tough Enough along with himself and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. He glances in the direction of the stage and a few seconds later some very familiar theme musics begins to play.

TRISH STRATUS WALKS OUT!

Elimination Chamber 2011: Kelly Rehired, Trish Stratusfies Lay-Cool

Lay-Cool meet Trish Stratus! Despite having no advertised Divas match, WWE certainly delivered an explosive night for Diva fans at Elimination Chamber tonight. After Vickie Guerrero entered the ring pleading with Teddy Long to rehire her boyfriend Dolph Ziggler, Teddy instead rehired Kelly Kelly who had been fired by Vickie a couple of weeks ago … Read more

Paging Cupid! Could Cupid Help Make These WWE Couples Happen?

Last week during Diva Dirt Live, David decided to call me out on the fact that I haven’t written a Southern Belle Smack column in a long time. Well, I’m here to change that… sort of. This is not a SBS feature but it is me doing something other than a Redux! I figured that I would give each and every one of you a special little treat during this fine holiday. Earlier today, the Diva Dirt staff took you down a rose-petal lined stroll on memory lane with a special feature on some of the greatest wrestling couples of all time. Remembering the likes of Savage and Elizabeth, Lita and Edge, and Molly and Spike brought back wonderful memories, but it also got me thinking. For every great wrestling couple from the past, there’s an equally bad couple. Who could ever forget Bertha Faye and Harvey Whippleman, Dawn Marie and Al Wilson, or Vickie Guerrero and Eric Escobar? And thinking about all these couples got me thinking about the point of this feature. With the emergence of Gail Kim and Daniel Bryan as a power couple in the making, and Vickie Guerrero absolutely dominating SmackDown on behalf of her beloved boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler, what other couples in the WWE should be happening right now? It is Valentine’s Day afterall, and cupid’s arrow can land anywhere, so April, David, Eric, Steven, and myself have decided to play matchmaker and help cupid aim in the right direction.

MARYSE AND KING SHEAMUS
Every king needs his very own queen and what better Diva to fit the role of queen than the Sexiest of Sexy of herself, Maryse? Her relationship with Ted DiBiase has clearly run its course thanks to DiBiase’s inability to win matches and a woman like Maryse demands perfection. Or at least someone who has money, power, or a championship belt. She doesn’t seem picky and why be picky? Everyone knows true love comes in the form of presents and Sheamus would no doubt consider himself lucky to have a girl like Maryse on his arm. He would shower her with presents and worship the ground she walks on. Together, they could rule the WWE with an iron fist; the Celtic Warrior and the French-Canadian bombshell. There’s no need to understand the words they speak because no one really can. The only thing that the Superstars and Divas of World Wrestling Entertainment need to understand is that both Maryse and Sheamus will do whatever it takes to make sure no one stands in their way. Of course, this pairing likely won’t last. Expect Maryse to bolt almost the minute the King of Kings, Triple H shows up to extract his revenge on Sheamus. The first time she nearly gets Pedigreed, Maryse is gone, and it’ll be lights out for the terror-filled reign of King Sheamus and Queen Maryse. But don’t expect Ted DiBiase to take her back because…

Fan Report & Pictures from FCW Live Event in Punta Gorda, FL (February 12th)

Long-time reader Bobby Lea Burchill sent in the following report and pictures from an FCW live event last night:

I attended the FCW Live Event on February 12th with Vickie Guerrero as the special meet and greet guest. I’ll try to go in order and remember everything I can so bear with me lol. After we go inside, the line for Vickie was already huge as I had stopped to meet some of the FCW stars before she came out. Then out of nowhere everyone starts clapping and out she walks! Vickie looks insanely skinny in person, which was a topic of conversation from a lot of the fans. She’s really lost a lot of weight and looks great. As the line started moving, I could start to hear some things Vickie was saying, which interested me. She said how she almost didn’t make it out to the show due to a SmackDown live event but how she loves to give back to the fans because they are what has kept her in WWE as long as she’s been there. She even added how thankful she is for each of the storylines she’s been in.

SmackDown Redux (February 11th, 2011): Eve Continues To Roll While Another Diva Should Watch Her Hands

A not so appropriate title for this week’s SmackDown Redux would be “The Hangover Edition” but that’s incredibly unfair to the newly crowned Diva’s Champion, Eve, and her opponent on this week’s episode of the A-List show, Layla. However, after last week’s epic episode, I truly felt like this week was nothing more than a buzz kill. The match itself was okay, and so was the backstage segment that featured Michelle McCool and Vickie Guerrero (…and Dolph Ziggler). But unfortunately it just failed to live up to the high expectations that last week set.

Of course, I’m getting ahead of myself. This is not the time to talk about my personal opinion. This is merely the introduction so let me get all generic on you people and say…

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO HEREEEEEEE’S SMACKDOWN!

Tonight’s Diva portion of the show kicked off with a segment. Lay-Cool are walking backstage with Layla dressed to wrestle. They’re chatting about the Royal Rumble and Michelle calls Eve a snake. They agree that she didn’t deserve to be in that match at the Rumble and Michelle says that it’s all because it was Lay-Cool’s rematch. They can’t decide how Eve got into the match and Michelle seems a little annoyed that no one ever seems to help them out like that. They agree that Eve’s victory was nothing more than a fluke and Michelle makes the statement that had the referee been doing his job correctly that she would be the new Diva’s Champion. Layla stops them and goes “don’t you mean we?” Michelle just looks at her and goes “yay, whatever Lay.” This insults Layla and rightfully so, but before she can reply, the door to Vickie’s office swings open and out walks the woman herself.

SmackDown Redux (February 4th, 2011): Kelly Kelly Defends the World Heavyweight Championship and Gets Sent Packing for Her Efforts

For the first time in the history of my SmackDown Redux, I’m going into the A-List show absolutely cold turkey, unsure of what exactly is going to happen. On Tuesday night I took a serious vow to remain spoiler free this week and to not watch the show until it airs in the U.S. on SyFy. I’m pleased to report that I stuck to my vow and as I write this, the show is getting closer to starting. All I know is that the main event features the team of Kelly Kelly and the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge, taking on the team of Michelle McCool, Layla, and Dolph Ziggler. As cool as mixed tag matches are, this one gets even better because on Raw, Vickie Guerrero announced that this match would be for Edge’s championship. Call it his punishment for using the banned spear at the Royal Rumble. I call it freaking epic because this is going to be the best Redux in the history of Reduxes.

I really should not be this excited for a taped wrestling show.

And so the show begins. We kick things off with Booker T in the ring announcing that he is the newest addition to the SmackDown broadcast team. This upsets me because I am a Matt Striker fan. I’ll miss you blue eyes. Anyway, Booker T does his spinaroonie thing in the ring and as that concludes, Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler make their way to the ring with extreme, massive heat. Vickie is screaming excuse me and they get in the ring with Dolph helping his girlfriend get in like a true gentleman! Vickie says that tonight will be a SmackDown we will never forget. She has set up qualifying matches for the SmackDown elimination chamber and then she begins to talk about tonight’s main event. She calls Dolph the uncrowned world champion and she brings up Kelly. She calls her a tramp and orders her to come to the ring.

RIGHT NOW KELLY KELLY.

SmackDown Redux (January 14th, 2011): The Good. The Bad. The Ugly.

The title itself should explain the theme of tonight’s Redux. This week’s edition of Friday night SmackDown truly was good, bad, and ugly. But before we jump to conclusions, lets take a minute to reflect on the week in wrestling in general. There was a horrific match at TNA Genesis (popular consensus, of course. I, myself, have not watched it). There was an axed Diva’s match from Raw and lets face it, that’s not always a bad thing. Superstars saw the underused and underrated Alicia Fox and Gail Kim square off in a match that many people are saying is one of the most enjoyable matches in awhile (again, I have not seen it). And to cap things off, SmackDown delivered.

And it delivered in a truly ridiculously wonderful way.

To kick us off this week, we’re going to launch right into the good. That’s the whole point of good, bad, and ugly right? Michelle McCool (with Layla at ringside) taking on Beth Phoenix looks damn good on paper. It certainly looked brilliant when I saw the spoilers earlier in the week. The question is, did it deliver?

Lay-Cool, aka the Dynamic Duo, make their way to the ring first. Layla is rocking a hot, blue mini-dress and boots, while Michelle is in her green ring attire that I don’t like very much. They’re still carrying their Slammys and they’re still delicious heels. They play to the crowd as only they can and they get inside the ring to wait for Michelle’s opponent, the one and only Glamazon. Beth walks out in a rather plain Glamasuit but the crowd doesn’t care because they’re in Birmingham. No offense to my fellow Alabamians, but the majority of the state isn’t really up to par fashion wise. I am the exception. Anyway, once Beth is inside the ring and her entrance dies down, the bell rings and the match begins. The two statue-esque blonds circle one another. Beth gains the early advantage when she breaks the lock-up and forces Michelle into the turnbuckle. She drives her shoulder repeatedly into Michelle’s mid-section and follows up with several nice punches to the former school teacher’s skull. Beth finally backs off and Michelle moves from the corner, but she’s still positioned by the ropes. Beth whips her across the ring and takes her down by clubbing her in the chest.

NXT Redux (December 21st, 2010): Maryse and Ted Come from Money but They Can’t Buy a Victory…

Well folks, Christmas has come early around these parts because not only did the WWE deliver a Divas match on NXT tonight, but yours truly gets to put on her NXT hat and bring you a Redux one more time! On tonight’s episode, season four pro, Maryse, and her pro boyfriend, Ted DiBiase, teamed up with their rookie, the beast of a man known as Brodus Clay, to take on the team of Chris Masters, his rookie, Byron Saxton, and a mystery Diva partner of their choosing. Lets take a look at how all of this played out!

The abortion of a theme song, “I Come From Money”, begins to play as the main event gets set to take place. Maryse and Ted make their way to the ring, arm in arm, with Brodus trailing behind them. The happy couple are chatting as they enter and get set, and Brodus just looks scary. Once their music fades, Christ Masters’ theme starts to play and he walks out with Saxton. They head to the ring and stop at the apron waiting for their mystery partner. It doesn’t take long for the music of the WWE Divas Champion, Natalya, to hit and she is greeted by a nice reaction and kisses to her hand from both Saxton and Masters. Talk about charming (especially Saxton with that million dollar smile)! Josh Matthews and Todd Grisham go over the rules for a mixed tag match while Nattie plays to the crowd. The bell finally rings.

SmackDown Redux (December 21st, 2010): What Happens On SmackDown Stays on SmackDown (and Should Never Happen Again!)

After a brutal tables match at TLC and a fun match on Raw complete with a heel turn twist, you’d think that on the live edition of Tuesday Night SmackDown, the great Diva match roll would continue on. You would think that after announcing a handicap match on Raw for SmackDown featuring Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero teaming up against Super John Cena that this week’s SmackDown would be the most epic SmackDown ever.

Oh it was epic alright. An epic fail.

Instead of greatness, we were forced to witness the complete violation of poor Vickie. Storyline continuation in the WORST way. And a reunion of sorts that the majority of the free world wishes wouldn’t have happened at all. With that kind of intro, you’re just begging to take a look at the action, aren’t you? Well sit back, grab some tissues, and get ready to weep. It truly is just that bad.

The first Diva sighting of the night involves Rose Mendes. She’s walking alongside Big Show Santa Claus and they’re handing out presents backstage. After Rosa says ‘Feliz Navidad’ to backstage worker and gives him a present, Hornswoggle pops into the picture. He has a toy bag over his head and when they pull it off, he is dressed like an elf. Of course he is. He places his hand on Rosa’s hip and the three of them continue to walk with the promise of more to come later.

Random Observations: Oh joy. I just can’t wait for more. On a more positive note, Rosa looks smoking hot tonight and her little Santa outfit is sexy! I wasn’t exactly a fan of the darker hair at first, but she’s working it tonight.
