We’re All Mad Here

With NCAA March Madness kicking off today, the Divas donned jerseys of their favorite teams (but really just the ones with the prettiest colors) and posed for a photoshoot that WWE.com is calling “March Madness: Round One”, which leads me to believe there’s more to come from the Divas we don’t see here. Some of … Read more

Diva B-Sides: Alicia Fox, Kelly Kelly and Katie Lea

We can all agree that, except for a few exceptions, Divas get the short end of the stick when comes to entrance themes. While the male superstars get music from actual bands and artists or custom made songs with lyrics, Divas get stuck with crappy production music. If I had the chance I would change all the Divas music to something a little… well, better. And that’s just what I’m going to do. Here’s a few changes I would make to the Divas’ soundtrack:

Alicia Fox“Just Dance” by Lady Gaga

The name says it all. This would be the perfect song to fit Alicia Fox’s disco dancing gimmick. Not to mention, it would be a welcome change from her current Jacko-esque theme.  The lyrics fit her outlook totally: “Just dance/ Gonna be OK”. This would have to be her theme alone, because the thought of DJ Gabriel dancing down  the ramp to this is laughable.

ECW Watch: March 3rd, 2009

Boy, is it good to see Natalya in a match again or what? Apparently still part of SmackDown, Natalya took on ECW’s Alicia Fox last night. Check it out below along with my thoughts. ECW: ALICIA FOX VS NATALYA I enjoyed this match, while Alicia hasn’t exactly been in the spotlight too long, she is … Read more

FCW: The Savior of the Women’s Division?

For the last few weeks, I’ve been covering FCW. More specifically, the ‘Queen of FCW’ tournament. After watching all the quarter final matches, as well as tonight’s Eve vs Michelle, I’ve come to the following conclusion: FCW is the best thing to happen to the women’s division. I don’t know what Steve Keirn and co. are doing with these ladies, … Read more

Oooh, Foxy Lady..

Alicia Fox looks so great in this photoshoot, I can’t help but hear that classic Jimi Hendrix song in my head.. It’s fitting, then, that this shoot is titled “Foxy Diva”. She looks kind of retro, wearing a ripped top and headband, but it doesn’t look gimmicky. You wouldn’t think posing in a hallway would … Read more

What If?: Alicia Fox, Mickie James and Candice

You guys ever wonder what could have been in WWE? Ever think that a few less ‘future endeavors’ would have made a difference in today’s division? Ever think of how things would be without the Diva Search? No? Well, don’t worry cause I’ve done the thinking for you. Here’s a couple of circumstances that woulda, coulda or shoulda created an alternate reality in Diva world.

WHAT IF: Alicia Fox had stuck around on SmackDown?
As we all know Alicia Fox was a integral part of a major storyline last year. She was the homewrecking wedding planner in Edge and Vickie Guerrero’s broken marriage. However, after her interference at ‘The Great American Bash’, Alicia disappeared from our TV screens and reappeared on ECW a few months later.

I’m sure if Alicia had stuck with Edge on Smackdown she’d definitely be a much bigger star than she is today. Being matched with a top star would have had her ringside for plenty of main events and high profile matches. Not to mention Vickie would have done her damnest to make Alicia’s life on Smackdown a living hell. Vickie might’ve even ‘hired’ a Diva to take her out.

WHAT IF: Mickie James had debuted in her original gimmick?
If you’re as big a Mickie James fan as I am you might know that she originally debuted on Sunday Night Heat in a non-televised match. She was the manager of the current Intercontinental Champion, CM Punk and was sporting a sleazy punk rock gimmick. However management didn’t like the combo and shipped their asses back to OVW.

All I have to say is THANK GOD! That decision was the best thing to ever happen to Mickie’s career. That cheesy gimmick probably would’ve been her downfall. All most we would have seen of Mickie would’ve have been at ringside, and she if ever did get to wrestle I’m sure that WWE wouldn’t have let a lowly valet hold championship gold. Whew! I guess she dodged that bullet as she’s argubly the most popular diva in WWE today and a four- time Women’s Champion to boot.

WHAT IF: Candice hadn’t broken her collarbone?
Two years ago Candice  Michelle was on the top of the world. She was a former women’s champion, the only former Diva Search contestant to hold gold and involved in a high profile program with ‘The Glamazon’ Beth Phoenix. She was WWE’s golden girl. Then she hit a roadblock in the form of a broken clavicle. Her position in WWE has been falling ever.

Had Candice not been injured I think she would probably be the number two face on Raw behind Mickie. While she was never the best at wrestling, she was improving week by week. I’m sure if she kept on that track she could have won the belt at least one more time(as much as I hate to admit it)

Her absence from the ring and lack of training once she was healed resulted in major ring rust and a rebroken collarbone. By the time she rehealed the damage had been done. The fans stopped caring and became enamored with a fresh face in Kelly Kelly. Tough Break, Candice.

That’s it for this week, folks. However, the Reader’s Choice edition of ‘What If?’ will go online later this week, submit your suggestions after the cut:

FCW Divas To Get Golden

It looks like some lucky FCW Diva may be sporting championship gold in the near future. For those of us who don’t follow FCW, last month they began a “Queen Of FCW” tournament. Participants include some of our newest WWE Divas, as well as a few new faces.

While there was never any mention of an actual title I can’t see any other reason to go through so much trouble. Maybe I’m jumping the gun a bit, but I see the winner of this tourney getting more than a crown and a pat on the back. I have my money on Angela Fong or Wesley Holiday, as they’re the only Divas that haven’t been called up yet. Here’s the brackets and the first three quarterfinal matches.

Quarter Finals:
Angela def. Rosa Mendes
Girl from Mexico def. Saylor James
Alicia Fox def. Jenny Cash
Tiffany def. Wesley Holiday

Semi Finals
Angela vs. Girl from Mexico
Alicia Fox vs. Tiffany

WWE Gets More Mileage Out of the Rumble Theme

Photos of Melina, Alicia Fox, Beth Phoenix, Jillian, Kelly Kelly, Mickie James, and Tiffany have been added to yesterday’s Vroom Vroom” photoshoot, and it’s pretty much more of the same. Kelly looks great, and I love the little handkerchief-drop pose. Melina’s leather gloves add to her look, and make it look more “race”-inspired than just … Read more

Alicia is Indeed “Fox”y

Alicia Fox is the WWE’s newest Diva, so it’s about time she’s had her Eye Candy christening. Her new studios have been added to WWE.com without fanfare or a photoshoto title, so I’ve taken the liberty to name it myself – “My Hero”. Her comic book-inspired to shirt was obviously the inspiration. It’s cute and … Read more

The Big FCW Post

So we haven’t been keeping up to date with FCW since it’s early shows and I know a lot of you are interesting in seeing the matches etc. We receive a good few e-mails every week with people linking to YouTube videos for us to post. I apologise for not keeping up to date with them, but just to make it up to you, here’s a big ole post with lots of Diva action from FCW:

FCW EPISODE 5: ALICIA FOX & ROUCKA VS KELLY KELLY & WESLEY HOLIDAY

Weird to see Kelly Kelly as the big star of this match, considering she’s learning herself. It was interesting to see her face off against Alicia Fox, who she was signed with in 2006. The two previously used to model together for the same catalogue, which is where they were infamously found. Seeing as they were signed together by WWE, comparing their two careers right now, is really intriguing. Kelly’s become a big star while Alicia is still in the minor leagues. WWE could just as easily have pushed Fox in Kelly’s role when ECW began in June 2006. What a twist of fate…

FCW Watch (Ep. 2): Kelly Kelly’s Diva Twist Off

On last night’s episode of FCW, Raw’s Kelly Kelly showed up to host a Diva-flavoured “twist off” competition and in true Diva fashion, it resulted in a catfight! The Other Divas Brawl at the Bash

Diva Dirt reader, Artie rightfully reminded us that we’ve been focussing so much on Michelle McCool‘s Divas Championship victory over Natalya, that we’ve forgotten to even acknowledge the other Divas brawl at the Bash. Well more of a catfight than a brawl but highly entertaining nonetheless, Vickie Guerrero laid her former wedding planner, Alicia Fox … Read more

SmackDown Redux – July 18, 2008

This week on SmackDown: The Divas celebrated Vickie Guerrero‘s wedding by attempting to catch her bouquet. Michelle McCool attacked Natalya, Cherry caught the bouquet and was then beaten by both Natalya and Vickie herself.

Thoughts & Reactions
On paper, I was kinda looking forward to the Divas action on this week’s SmackDown. On screen, I was bitterly disappointed by how things played out. When I read the spoilers that Michelle attacked Natalya during Vickie’s bouquet throwing, I thought this could be a fun way of selling their match this Sunday at the Great American Bash – instead the spot felt uneasy to watch and rather lame. As all the Divas stood together on the outside of the ring, did Michelle not notice that Natalya was standing next to her the entire time until the camera was on her? It looked really stupid when Michelle was happy-go-lucky, waving to the crowd one minute and then the next, she turns and sees Natalya who has evidently been standing next to her through the length of the segment. This just came across as unrealistic and silly, not the way I would have these Divas leave things before their big night at the Bash.

Elsewhere, poor Cherry got to job twice in two minutes – three whole minutes less than the 5 minutes I first predicted in this week’s Diva Dirt Sheet. When I initially read the spoilers, it said something of the lines of “Natalya absolutely killed Cherry”, getting my hopes up for a competetive match in which Natalya really showed some of her great ring presence. Instead, Natalya’s beat down of Cherry consisted of a hair pull and hitting her with a bouquet of flowers before locking in the Sharpshooter. In all, the whole segment lasted less than 3 minutes and that was it – our fill of the Divas for the week. I was lenient on SmackDown last week for it’s shortened use of the Divas, but at least that match and it’s aftermath helped sell the Bash this Sunday. Honestly, I didn’t feel as though this was a segment to write home about and it certainly didn’t help push the first ever Divas Championship match!

Possibly the saving grace of this segment was the other Vicki – Victoria, a welcome return to SmackDown for the Vicious Vixen who displayed her large personality as always. I’m not ashamed to admit that I laughed at Victoria waving her arms around, gotta love this girl! And on another plus note, the Divas did look rather elegant in their gowns though I am not a fan of wrestling in dresses.

Despite being a hellish heel, Vickie Guerrero (as WWE has pointed out on SmackDown) has shown some streaks of brilliance with introducing the Divas Championship and towards the Divas, she’s always been very friendly as “mothersome.” This was a cool aspect to Vickie’s character because the rest of the time she’s a bitch we love to hate, Vickie really makes it seem like she loves and more importantly, respects the Divas on SmackDown and is “friends” with them, even though they may not be friends with each other. I don’t know about you, but I like this quality because it gives SmackDown’s women’s division some importance, some meaning because they can tie it into the GM. Of course, that was somewhat tainted on SmackDown when Vickie virtually pinned Cherry in a matter of seconds, but the interaction beforehand was pretty cool.

Fast forward to the final segment of SmackDown and gosh darnit, what many have speculated would happen, has happened. Edge made his move on wedding planner, Alicia Fox, though I have to say the video footage was really stiff and badly acted. Nonetheless, this gives Alicia some prominence and I cannot wait to see her folded into the mix as it were, in future weeks – hopefully she’ll be joining the women’s division very soon! Let’s not forget, Alicia’s not the only new Diva – I fully expect Maria to make her SmackDown debut next week, I’m glad they have held her off until after the Bash because it puts the spotlight on Michelle vs Natalya.
