Welcome to a new feature here at Diva Dirt, the concept of which you may recognise from The Late Show with David Letterman. In every episode of The Late Show, Letterman has a satirical ‘top ten’, that combined with the recently published “20 Rules for the Diva Afterlife” gave us an idea! Check back every week for Diva Dirt’s Letterman-esque Weekly Top 10!
10 Rules for the Diva Mark
1. Pick a Diva
The first step to being a Diva mark is picking a Diva to mark for. Duh! Prime candidates are Divas with limited ring skills, zero charisma and/or a questionable past ( modeling, contest winners and porn). These flaws will make perfect targets for others to pick at, making for the perfect opportunity to unleash your marky fury.
2. Declare Your Love
Once you’ve picked your Diva, the next step is to show everyone how much you love them. Scour the message boards for any and every thread about your Diva. Leave borderline obssessive messages such as: “ZOMG! She’s the bestest diva everz!'” Make sure every other message on the thread is yours.
3. Twitter Me
If your Diva of choice has a Twitter (or any other social networking profile), use it !This is your direct line to your chosen Diva and your best chance to grab her attention. Send messages like: “You’re the like best ever!” or “What are you doing RIGHT NOW? I wish I was there =(”
If she doesn’t respond, keep trying! She can only ignore you for so long…
4. Take Her Name
Change your Twitter username to ‘BobbyKanellis4Maria’ or something similar.
5. The World Revolves Around Her
One of the mark’s most unique qualities is their uncanny ability to insert their Diva into any conversation. She is the Alpha and the Omega — no other Diva matters. Here’s a perfect example:
John: Hey did you see Mickie James’ match against Beth Phoenix?
Mark: Yeah… it was OK. You know what would have made it even better? If Candice was in it! I know she’s been out of action for a year, but she totally deserves the title. I mean, she is the best, right?
But don’t stop at wrestling conversations. Bring your favorite Diva up at the dinner table, at work or even during your biology presentation. A true mark’s work is never done.

It’s official: Twitter has become a full-blown internet phenomenon. I mean, what’s better than seeing the inner thoughts of your favorite celebs? I’ll tell you what – seeing the inner thoughts of your favorite Divas! That’s why we’ve devised a new weekly feature, titled Tweets of the Week, where we’ll take a look at what the women of wrestling have been tweeting this week: the funny, the poignant, and the random. We’ll scour Twitter and serve it up for you, complete with the requisite Diva Dirt charm.
This week’s #5 is FCW Diva and WWE trainee Angela Fong (@missangelafong) witnessing an age-old Fourth of July tradition with a mixture of fear and awe:

#4 sees Divas Champion Maryse (@maryse0uellet) takes advantage of a recent tour through Australia to admire some of the locals.. sort of:

In #3, brings us Indy darling, former TNA Knockout, and SHIMMER girl Nikki Roxx (@RoxxiNikki) recounting an incident that proves physical humor is always the best humor:

As you all know, tomorrow night’s episode of Raw was taped last Monday due to an international tour — the Raw brand is currently visiting Australia. Check out a few ‘preview’ pictures after the cut courtesy of a user at the Wrestlingfigs.com Forums.
The pictures are pretty non-spoiler, they don’t necessarily reveal anything about the outcome of the show — only the Divas on the broadcast. Just to be safe, they are under the cut. To read spoilers [if you haven’t already] click here.

Just last week in our Roundtable, we were wondering when TNA had planned to introduce Ayako Hamada, who was signed several months ago. Well according to a new report, Hamada is set to debut at the next batch of Impact tapings — which will occur after Victory Road on July 19th.
As you know, TNA tapes their month’s worth of shows the week after their pay per views so Hamada will enter the Impact Zone later this month. When her debut airs on TV remains to be seen.
Hamada joins a recent slew of new Knockouts including Victoria and Sarita. Meanwhile, Raisha Saeed will be repackaged as Melissa Flash, making her a new-ish Knockout too.
One Knockout that is no stranger to Hamada is Awesome Kong, who she worked with in Japan. Check out one of their matches from 2004 after the cut:
Have you ever thought that a certain Diva resembled another celebrity out there? Ever done double-take while watching a movie or TV show and thought “Hang on, isn’t that so-and-so?” Well we certainly have! We can all agree that, with a few exceptions, Divas get the short end of the stick when comes to entrance themes. While the male superstars get music from actual bands and artists or custom made songs with lyrics, Divas get stuck with crappy production music. If I had the chance I would change all the Divas music to something a little… well, better. Hence, Diva B-Sides was born; a Diva Dirt exclusive where we match WWE Divas and TNA Knockouts with new entrance themes. Today B-Side is for Smackdown’s resident (and I use this term loosely) fashionista, Maria:

PICK #1: “DROP THE GIRL” BY HIT THE LIGHTS
Maria actually happen to be one of the only Divas on the roster to have an actual song for her entrance theme. Unfortunately, that doesnt make it any less annoying.
I was never a fan of Zebrahead (the band that made her theme), so I was cringing long before I heard the entire song. I decided to pick a band that is equally nasally, but half as annoying.
“Drop The Girl” sounds strangely similar to “With Legs Like That”. They both have a punk rock feel that compliments Maria image, or at least the image she’s trying to convey. The best part however, is the subliminal messages not-s0-hidden in there. “Drop the Girl/She’s not worth the time”. Hmm… I’ll leave it at that.
Hear Maria’s B-side and my second pick after the cut:

In the week since last week’s SmackDown and today’s, the women’s division for the blue brand has become almost unrecognisable. There’s a new Women’s Champion in Michelle McCool and the brand took a severe hit, when it lost solid workers in Gail Kim and Alicia Fox. The aftermath of the trade on Monday night, hurt because we’re huge fans of Gail and Alicia as well as the way SmackDown was booked in the past couple of months.
But I’m pleased to report, that the trades haven’t affected the quality of the show as this week business continued to boom for the Friday night show, showing no signs of mourning for the dearly departed Divas. Watch below as Melina teams up with an unlikely partner, Maria to take on the now heel again, Layla and McCool:

This past Thursday, TNA lead us into a featured Knockouts competition with a quick promo to hype the debut of Sarita – definitely something to look forward to in upcoming weeks.
Next is the contest of The Beautiful People, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky vs. the team of Awesome Kong and Victoria. I’ve never quite understood the appeal of wrestling in mini skirts, but nonetheless The Beautiful People make their way to the ring looking as tawdry as ever with a prop-donning Madison Rayne as their escort. Awesome Kong then enters, still accompanied by Raisha Saeed. As Victoria’s presence is felt, we see the notorious black box attached to her hip, which is only a haunting sign of things to come.

As of late, we here at Diva Dirt have witnessed a bit of a tide turning against Divas Champion Maryse. That’s not to say fans have become hostile or spiteful, but (with the exception of a well-received turn at the commentary table this week on Raw) fans aren’t loving Maryse as much as they used to.
I feel that with this, like most other investigations, it is best to start from the beginning. While on SmackDown, Maryse went from lowly Diva Search reject to Divas Champ, all the while picking up fans and changing steadfast negative opinions to ones far more in her favor. Wrestling skills and ring presence seemed to spring from nowhere, and she quickly ascended to become one of SmackDown’s top Divas. Her heel character, cocky and arrogant, seemed to capture people’s attention and display plenty of charisma, despite the apparent language barrier. Love her or hate her, you can’t deny that the difference between the beginning and end of her SmackDown tenure is like night and day. Don’t believe me? Check out this clip, back from when Maryse’s top skills including saying “welcome back to SmackDown” and blowing air kisses:
Granted, those vignettes, which aired throughout 2007, didn’t give her much of a chance to show her worth, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t write her off right then and there. I mean, who needs another blonde chick who can’t do more than lie around in skimpy clothing? Which is why, when Maryse started wrestling in early 2008, I was quite shocked to see at what level of skill she was. No, she wasn’t the next Wendi Richter by any means, but in comparison to someone like Maria, who had many more years in the company (and seems to be metaphorically pedaling away on a stationary bike), Maryse was improving at light speed. She showed a comfort level in the ring that you can’t fake. So it came to be, with less than a year of experience of wrestling on television, Maryse won her first WWE title:
